Changes vs Essendon

Neade is a forward who has kicked 1 goal (a soccer from the goalsquare) from 4 full games this year. I'd rather persist with him than bring in Sam Gray or someone like that, but saying that anybody who wants him dropped 'knows nothing about football' is utterly moronic. But what do you expect from somebody who calls a Port player 'Shittard'?

This thread is depressing...for the simple fact couldnt care if we brought back sam gray pittard moore....

Whatevs....this team has sunk to a new low with me...

Disappointment after disappointment ....

Same bloke carrying the rest....players playing well below their best...

its yahoooo ho hum happy days with our coaches who really dont give a s***

I dont care about losing...I have sat through a lot of s*** this club has produced ....

this club right now represents underachievement embaressment by the riches...

its getting ridiculous to support this club....I have never ever been so pissed off with it...even after 119 2011 and 2012....

We as supporters just sit here take it with our pants down every freakin time....

we have a good list in a matter of fact one the best this year is another freaking embaressment this is not the time for losses we should be home and hose playing in finals ...but nooo we are sitting here discussing changes about players who obviously just dont give a f*** as long as the cheque gets paid...

Same people who moan about Monfries not kicking enough goals. He sure as shit does a lot more than Jakey boy whose contribution this year is essentially being seen in the distance of open play, running near the contest, but never actually applying any pressure or presence.

I don't really disagree with anything Robbie4PM said, apart from 2 things

a) the word Shittard (which in fairness he posts as he's naming him as a desired inclusion). Pittard is a gun. Asking someone "What do you think of Pittard?" is a pretty good litmus test as to whether someone knows anything about football.

b) The big long stupid rant about how Young and Ah Chee never get back in followed by a "lol" at the potential inclusion of the poster boy for never getting backed in by the coaching staff.

I am hearing you loud and clear, been a member from day 1 and the Magpies prior. I am going to remove my auto membership renewal, until i know the direction those in power are taking. Complacency is the issue here, players and coaches taking things for granted, hard earned members and sponsors cash and you don't have to worry about coughing it up we will take it automatically from you credit card. Unfortunately it's more about the business and the we want to be liked side of things. rather than, we don't give a shit about other clubs and we are Port Adelaide and we are here to cause you pain and win Premierships
Very disappointed in our President atm.

I have come to the conclusion that we are Geelong 2006. Lets just keep developing our game plans and introduce youngsters for depth in the future and hopefully we become a force over the next 5-7 years
Love your optimism but in 7 years we also would have lost players like Gray, Ryder and possibly Wingard Wines and many more so if we can't get it right with the talented group we have now, we never will. I agree about building depth but it's always going to be hard to convince interstate players to come to Port to be depth, or to keep young Victorian players to spend 4 -5 years playing reserves and then keep them when they are good enough to play a grade.

I was just taking the piss with the Shittard comment, I know what he adds to the team and he is needed but he frustrates me with his extremely poor decision making on occasions. For me he is in the mind set of that he can't turn the ball over and when he has no options instead of just kicking it long he tries to take the opposition on. To be honest its the fact that our players are not spreading well enough to give him the option coming out of the back. Time and time again on the weekend and previous rounds the opposition have spread better than us when we've been coming out the back completely stopping any run. Back to Pittard, he is a good player but to truly lift his game he must make better decisions.

That is true that Butcher hasn't been backed in either but I think Butcher has been given a fair opportunity in his position of choice when he has come into the AFL team. I don't think Ah Chee or Young have had enough of a go truly in the guts. I watch Cloke, Jesse White etc miss easy shots in front of goal and see how deflating it is to the team and I just don't think you can play a player who'm you couldn't trust to kick through the middle from the goal square. Butcher is fine in every other aspect but poor kicking is poor football and I don't think he's worth persisting with unless they can fix that kick.

We didn't miss Pittard on weekend. Still think we've tinkered with game plan, we look more to a lead coming out of defence, rather than crazy run-on, but then Ken says he wants them to take it on? if that's the case are the players dumb and go sideways on purpose or is Ken telling lies?

I don't see talk being turned into actions, i'm rather confused and really pissed at the effort this year, something went missing, it was evident by round 3.

Butcher...... done.

Seems a deck chair shuffling moment to me as I don't think the selectors will be bringing in any 'young debutants' (ie Harvey) at this stage. Pittard if fit will come back (will do some good, will make some howlers, will continue to polarise all). Stewart who apparently played on Sunday, Out. Then we will implement our rotating 'last' mid policy, Achee out, Moore/S Gray/Mitchell/Young/Amon in.

Match ups will be interesting this week, who will go to daniher? A bit tall for hombsch but backing him to get it done

Trengove>giles/mckernan
Hombsch>daniher
Clurey>ambrose
Impey>zaharakis?edwards? No real suitable match up. Edwards is quick but 10cms taller than jarman
?> hooker they may stretch us

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease DO NOT pick Sam Gray... He's not AFL standard!!!.
Oh really....
Peter Jackson Player of the Week
Sam Gray

This was by far his best game for the season. Sam played with AFL speed and intensity in offence, but I was delighted that his game was also full of tough defensive actions.

We didn't miss Pittard as much as we might have because the Crows didn't lock us down, they got into a shootout and backed their midfield to dominate ours, which it did.

(losing a shootout to anyone is unforgivable given how our team is set up, btw. We should be beating Hawthorn and Sydney in a game with a lot of open space)

Just about every other team has tried to shut down our run, and that's when we miss Pittard, who breaks lines and creates while everyone else stands there with no idea what to do

Pittard makes mistakes because he takes risks, which don't always come off. If he's not making mistakes, he's not taking risks, in which case he's really not that valuable a player to us.

I look forward to his inclusion this week against Essendon.

All our 3 tall forwards will be done by then. They may even be done in a couple of years.

Very different list structures.

Really? I must have missed our defensive six trying to take the game on, we missed Pittard massively and quite possible was the difference. Pittard is the only one that tries to consistently take the game on and most of his turnovers are caused by flat footed team mates in the forward half.

spot on.

Pittard was born with an offensive mindset so I don't think he knows any other way, Ken obviously gives him a lot of confidence whom himself was not too dissimilar to Pittard as a player.

Everybody is saying , drop this or that bloke , do we all agree that our mids are our biggest ( perhaps coaching by side ) problem , that's were we are getting killed , and heaps of piss poor passing comes from , well how about the weakest links being dropped for a change ?.

Fair point!

On this topic. What are the qualification rules for the SANFL finals. We may have a very strong side come SANFL finals time. Imagine slotting P Stewart, AhChee Neade, Young, Krak, Clurey and Impey back into that team from the weekend.

If that was possible and within the rules why do I think it would have the Redlegs sliding in their pants
the $ANFL mad as hell and me with a great big fat cheesey grin on my face.
DO IT PORT I'd be there looking like a split watermelon
