See you all in the draft thread. Ugh.

Is Lisfranc potentially career threatening like the Navicular? Or is the prognosis for the rest of his career all good?
My understanding of this injury is limited to the fact that if you rest it and give it the correct amount of time to heal after surgery your chances are greatly increased of full recovery. The bones and joints in the foot do not have great blood flow so the healing process is longer (from what I have been told) the fact the club have said the season is over means they are going for the complete time frame for the best result possible.

I'll have to revise my earlier ins and outs with our injury crisis, take no chances with Berry and McCluggage please.

Outs- Mitch Robinson, Charlie Cameron, Hugh McCluggage, Ryan Lester.

Ins- Sam Mayes, Rhys Matheison, Corey Lyons, Tom Bell.

I'm in no way a Tom Bell fan but he has been putting up some pretty decent numbers in the 2s so I expect him to come in for one last shot at it. I had Cedric coming in but I'd like to see Lyons given a go now, if Christensen doesn't come up I'd love to see Hinge get a run.

My issues with those calling for Lester to be dropped is that he was brought in ahead of Bell, Mayes, Matho, Lyons, etc. last week and then the reserves were all terrible. I can't see any of the reserves having done enough in that terrible performance to warrant a selection ahead of Lester.

Like it or not he'll probably play this week.

I did think the same before he was dropped the last time though.

I agree, Lester wont be omitted, just wishful thinking on my behalf.

NEAFL sluggish against Aspley

The Lions’ NEAFL side struggled against the Aspley Demons on Saturday, suffering their second consecutive loss 6.10 (46) to 9.11 (65).

Aspley recorded 12 more inside 50s than the Lions, and the majority of their scores (7.2) came from turnovers.

Running defender Mitch Hinge was impressive with 23 disposals, four contested marks, eight intercept possessions, seven score involvements and a goal.

Corey Lyons collected a team-high 31 disposals, Rhys Mathieson had 15 contested possessions and Ryan Bastinac kicked two goals.
Thanks Jason, I missed that. You were right, very good contested numbers from Matho.

If all three were to miss in addition to Charlie and Robbo being out and Cox unavailable we'd need to make 4 changes.
All of Mayes, Mathieson, Bell, Beams, Bastinac, Lyons, Barrett and Hinge would probably be in the mix?
Bastinac apparently playing sore in the twos, might be unlikely. Mayes for Charlie probably the only certainty. Will be very interesting to see the other changes as you suggest. Two chances for a debut.

I think we Charlie out we need someone for the opposition to genuinely worry about up forward. I think DBeams has to play forward.
Hinge into defence for NRobbo to play midfield.
I think we should give McCluggage, Berry and Christensen the extra week and try something different.

Surely you would expect with so many forced replacements coming into the side, Fagan might mix experience with youth, and I can see Bastinac getting a call up again.

EDIT: Just saw post that he has been carrying an injury and playing sore in the twos. Disregard my comment.

Could this be a chance for Paparone to come in and play forward up the ground again? I know his form is hardly anything to write home about, but I still hope there is something there to persist with and maybe it'll all click for him and he'll become a handy player. Still fondly remember his 3 goals on debut!! Surely Fages and the rest haven't missed that fact?

Interesting to see Lester on that list. I don't know why but I had it in my head that it was a knee injury after he drafted him. Did that result in him losing some pace? I swear when we drafted him he ran a sub 3 second 20m. Seemed like occasionally he would show that after the injury with ball in hand but then would look slow as molasses when covering the ground.
Do they drug test the draftees at the combine because there is no way he runs at that speed, must have had a top up!
