I want to see

Ins - Sellwood, Buku, Buss

Out - JoD (injured/managed), JJ, Poulter

Freijah back to HB, Sanders back to HF/Mid and Davidson back to wing

B - Buss, Lobb, Jones
HB - Dale, Bramble, Freijah
C - Davidson, Richards, Williams
HF - Kennedy, Naughton, Sanders
F - West, Darcy, VDM

Followers - English, Bont, Libba

Int - Sellwood, Garcia, Buku, McNeil

Sub - Cleary (can go smaller if needed)

I agree with the Freijah to HB suggestions. This last month he seems to have laboured a bit. Injured, tired ? I don’t know but if it is not a rest that’s needed giving him a straightforward role may give him a boost. First Red then Freijah we have been blessed with half backs taking to an on ball role these last couple of years

I look at our defence and isolate our selection down to 4 categories that any one of our selected defenders must be elite/very good at.

Mobility, Ball use, Intercepting, lockdown.

E.G Dale - Elite mobility, ball use and can intercept
Lobb - Mobility (for his size) and intercepting ability.

I don’t feel players such as Coffield/Cleary fit none of these and shouldn’t be selected.

And why Caleb Daniel couldn’t survive anymore of this team (especially when his ball use dropped off).

Yes both players have proved very vital in the engen room

Could see Harmes being straight back in this week reading the injury report. Trained last week and then completed a match simulation session on the weekend. If he pulled up well from that and trains fully this week, maybe makes sense just to play him against the Bombers on Friday, can play a bit reduced game time if needed to ease him back...

A few suggesting Bont should be rested, but he missed the first, what six games and then had a bye.

If anything the players that should be rested this week are Libba, Dale, Lobb and Kennedy. All have done world of work this year. Lobb has taken a number of hits the last few weeks also.

We can't afford to rest anyone at this stage. We need to win all games. These games against weak sides are when we tend to drop games.

Hope we persist with Liam Jones, and give him time to get settled.

We need to shore up the backline and I think he could be a key factor there.

Would also be happy to try to settle Bailey Williams down back, rather than wing, for similar reasons.

I'd rather keep Freijah in defence, atleast for another 12 months. Red is our only point of difference in the middle.
Moving Ed back is a tough but sound decision imho. He has an amazing ability to intercept the ball and read the play. His long kicks can break lines and damage the opponent’s defense. He is also fast from half back and has more room which makes very destructive. He could well be covered by rotations with Freijah, Garcia or even Westie. The missing piece is a fit Treloar but that is just hope with his calf injury atm.

Outs : JOD (managed) JJ , Poulter
Ins : Busslinger Sellwood Harmes
JOD to rest his ankle for a week and reward Buss's form at VFL level. JJ been a great servant but is done see if Sellwood can impact at HB. Poulter back to VFL for a full match and Harmes sub to ease him back in when some of the heat comes out of the game.

Agree with Freijah going back. Gives us some extra run and creativity and hopefully allows him to settle and get a bit of confidence back

For mine, "resting" Bont could easily mean playing him forward more and giving him 2-3% less TOG.
The guy is a workhorse who rarely missed games prior to this season.

No need for him to miss this game.

Richards has been the clear AFL leader in goal assists all year. Would be a shame to lose that if he went back to HBF. Unless he saved a lot more goals than he would have GAs. Unlikely.

Freijah seems the logical choice. In a year or two when players like Sellwood and Walker hopefully become fixtures in the senior side Freijah will get his chance for a regular spot in the midfield.

Treloar is not the missing piece anymore. Treloar cannot move the way he used to due to persistent calf and hamstring injuries. They are terrible because you play with caution due to not wanting to re-injury. The moment you go 100% they go again. It's unfortunate yet Treloar has likely played his last game for the club.

You cannot move Ed out of the middle, he is clearly right up there as our most valuable players now and his score involvements highlight this.

Anyone advocating resting players, be careful what you wish for. No matter how poor your opponent is, disrespecting them is how you drop games you should win. Only those who secure top 4, home finals before the season is out get that luxury. We have to win every single game from here on, no mistakes. Everyone plays.

Torn to keep Jones in one more week and see if the chemistry down there can be improved after a full game together. Even though I was not a fan of his inclusion.

IN: Sellwood, Harmes
OUT: Poulter, ????

Freijah is 2 to 3 weeks form having 25 and 4 goals. A down game or two isnt alarm bells
I would say he's been reasonably quiet for 2 months. His form was down before that Sydney breakout game.

It's more that he's already set himself such high expectations both internally & externally. At the end of the day, he's still a 19 year old kid that has a lot of developing left to do.
