It's starting to feel a bot desperate at the selection table. Once again the match committee have no clear idea who our best team is.

We should win this but I'm doubtful we will win enough remaining games.
It’s been the same all year. There’s 3-4 roles that the MC clearly believes aren’t up to scratch and keep playing musical chairs hoping someone will take the chance.

So far, not one single player has come in from outside the team and clamped down on a role all year.

True, but not far out from.finals you'd hope we had some idea . Bringing Buss in not far from finals, when he could have had another 5 or 10 rounds into him, it fills me with trepidation.

Really we're suffering from not bottoming out & doing a full rebuild. You can't win a flag carrying so many also rans who don't know if they'll be in the team from one week to the next .

Cant say Im super unhappy with the changes.

Bringing Jones in at the expense of taking an extended look at Busslinger was alway at best a sideways move. Busslingers selection should've happened last week. He's the future or he isn't. Now is the time to find out.

I might be in the minority here, but in my view Davidson's form has been tapering off as the grind of his first season has worn on for a while now. Especially the defensive side of his game. Replacing him with Baker is an odd decision, but having not watched Footscray for weeks. Im not sure who should come in. Given the next middling candidate for selection would've been Poulter and he is already in the side.

The bench is a rouges gallery of misfits and I would've preferred one of Khamis or Sellwood added at the expense of just about anybody on the bench. As cover, but what would I know.

Anyways...I hope that the team plays in the positions that they're named in. I

ts a pretty solid starting line-up.

Rough looking bench, but still leagues ahead of what Essendon has named. Nothing to melt about, this will be yet another 80+ point flogging that does nothing to prepare us for finals (assuming we even make it)

I think the team selection says more about the weaknesses in our list than any sort of stuff up my the match committee/bevo etc. We have a lot of lost weaknesses, that's the reality of our current situation. Hopefully buss shoots the lights out.

Some of these selections remind me of when Ayce Cordy got a run of games before being delisted.
You’re playing for your future, show us what you’ve got.

Would they be in the captains run if they were dropped?
I was wondering the same thing. I don’t know who gets an invitation to the captains run.

Is it only the chosen 23 (not the emergencies)?

To me jones is cooked in my book Busslinger well he can be the future FB . How ever Baker to me is is not an ideal selection I'd prefer eighter Khamis or Sellwood if cant beat Essendon 80+ pts and percentage boost simply we dont deserve to be in the 8

Having to replace Davidson with a player like Baker shows where the lower rung of our list is at.

ā€œbest list in the compā€ f***in lol!!
I mean that is purely an MC decision. There are plenty of other options. It’s not a list issue.

If you’re going to play Baker, why not debut Jacques who has played in a similar position? The end result of no material impact on the game is going to be the same.

Then why give him a 3 year contract extension last week. Seems odd if he was showing glaring deficiencies.

Very promising young player in his first AFL season shouldn't have gotten an extension because he still has some areas of improvement?

This is the case for 60% of most playing lists in the comp.

Most of the talking head experts on the footy shows say we've got some stars, B graders but the bottom grade falls away

Not at all happy with team selection, or the associated explanations.

Jones needed to stay in. He wasn't the problem last week, besides JOD could have done with a rest if they really wanted Buss to come in.

Davidson has been great all year and was played out of position last week. If you want to give him a rest then say managed not omitted, so you can bring him straight back in next week.

VDM was poor last week and badly needs a rest, yet stays in, whilst Buku is stuck as an emergency.
Anthony Scott has been playing well in the VFL and would have been a potential direct replacement for McNeil whose form has really dropped off of late.

The potential passenger list for tomorrow's game is long, and whilst we will hopefully still be able to get over the Dons, we have undoubtedly self-created a bunch of unnecessary selection conundrums for the GWS match.

Another Bevo brain fart special. šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø
Beautifully put sir. Play the first year player out of position - then drop him. Bring Jones in for a week, drop him but play the bloke who left the ground in a moon boot . Play the kickless chap who was subbed off with a soft tissue injury .Bevo is safe - Bevo is back - Bevo makes no sense.

We deserve to miss if we can't beat GWS / Freo at home over the next few weeks, not because selection didn't go as you preferred this week.
We deserve to miss because of the hubris shown by our coach and match committee.
This week is evidence. If Essendon were able we deserve to be punished as we were in previous weeks.

The bottom end shouldn’t be made up of 18 year olds.

The Bakers, Poulters, Scotts etc of our team just aren’t on the level of similar best 18-24 players at the better teams. We recycle the same genuine D Graders in the team every few weeks. Serious premiership contenders don’t need to do that.

When you’re contending for a flag and the options are an unproven 18 year old or an average C/D Grader, you’ve got list issues.

What does that achieve though Mike?
We both know it wouldn't change anything in MC. We have about 8 years evidence of that.

Nose, say goodbye to Face. :knife:
