I don't think Poulter has had the best opportunity this season in his senior games.
If he gets a full game (not sub) against the Dons and doesn't do at least decently, I'm willing to put a fork in him.
Such a weird player honestly. He's clearly a talented bloke, but I just don't see what he actually is as a player. His kicking can be fantastic, but he's about half a second too slow when changing direction or even to just make a decision. At VFL level, he's been utterly dominant as a Georgiades-like power forward, but isn't physically imposing enough to replicate that at AFL level. You can't have him bulk up because one of his best features is running power, but then he can't seem take advantage of that because he's not proactive enough with ball in hand and ultimately slows down our ball movement.

Seems like he'll end up an undersized VFL full forward. I reckon he could become a country league star, and probably make good money doing it. I'm just not sure we ever find the right role for him. I think the Pies figured out the same when they delisted him despite him playing some reasonable patches of footy.

Most of the talking head experts on the footy shows say we've got some stars, B graders but the bottom grade falls away
The so called experts, especially the clown on SEN, has created a narrative that our list is great so he can have a dig at Bevo. The reality is that to win the flag we need to have much better quality in the backline, wings and middle, including the ruck. So in my estimation we are around 6-8 players short of the mark.

Team selection will be the death of Bevo. Not going to repeat what others have said but the treatment of Davidson / Sanders this year has been bewildering, Buss / Jones musical chairs and Buku just gone.

None of what we're doing makes any sense.

Those guys are 30-35 guys on our list. They are there for cheap depth in times of an injury crisis which we don’t even have. For whatever reason, the MC chooses to play them when they don’t need to played.
We hav3 the best list in the comp man….Kane said so….and he’s always right

It is interesting we won a flag with Fletcher Roberts, Zaine Cordy, Joel Hambling, Shane Biggs. Surprisingly 3 were key position players. Not all premiership players are stars however at the moment we seem to have to many role players.

If you can't play in three different positions, Bevo won't pick you. Look at the role players in top-four teams, they have one role they focus on and execute every week, all year. Our role players get shuffled into a new position every second week, and it kills their confidence and their chance to develop and own a position.

Hang on a second….back the truck up….you were having a massive go at Bevo in the autopsy thread last week….now you say we are 6-8 players short….so is it Bevo or is our list shit?

Everyone says we have the worst record against top 8 sides…on W/L metric only. We have been in all those games bar the Hawks and that was still only 22pts. Every other team in the 8 have been flogged by another top 8 side at least once

It was going so well all season. But then bringing in Duryea who EVERYONE knew was cooked..... somehow avoiding feeding Bus any more games to set him up for our future..... dropping Khamis for no reason, when he could have pinch hit in defence and kept developing (same output as Coffield, surely)

We also had Matthew Boyd & Dale Morris controlling that backline. Who is controlling our backline? Lobb is the only one that seems to resemble any sort of leadership capabilities.

In my mind, best case scenario I see a Jarrad Grant archetype. I will admit, that is very optimistic though and probably unrealistic at this point.

Baker comes in to sit on the bench to enable others to get a full game in the 2's.
This is the most plausible explanation I've seen so far.

FWIW I hope he smashes it whenever he gets to cross the white line tonight.
But I certainly didn't have him on my bingo card.

Ed Richards on record saying this earlier in his career. He was moved around & said it was really tricky.

Settled in the back line & flourished.

Nope. Its going to be his win loss record that will ultimately seal his fate.

Right now he's shuffling his cards trying to find a combination that is a winning hand. A situation not helped by having two aces removed from the deck before the game even began.

It makes perfect sense. When you consider (despite what one idiotic pundit says) that we just don't bat deep enough and its always going to be a game of musical chairs for as many as 10 players who make up the named squad on any given week.

Davidson has pretty clearly run out of puff. He's also a player who needs to work on the physical/defensive side of his game. Id go as far as to say he has been a near non contributor for 2-3 weeks now. And needed a spell in the run up to a potential finals run.

Sanders is an inside mid in a side that currently has no need for another. So he has to make his bones filling gaps. Be it on the wing or half forward. After last weeks sub-par showing. Id suggest that he'd be on thin ice with the MC if it wasn't for the lack of viable alternatives.

Jones played as soon as he was fit and ready. Even though he's obviously at the end of his playing road. Such is our desperation for a KPD.

Busslinger has been middling for much of the year and by all reports finally put together an exceptional game on the weekend. Thus he has was bought straight into the team and replaced Jones who didnt exactly set the world on fire.

Khamis is and always has been a liability when he isn't catching and kicking the ball.

If you look closely enough. You'll see a pattern developing as to why it is that all of the aforementioned players are bouncing around the fringes of the side.

Its not exactly a a magic eye picture that one needs to go all cross eyed to solve.

I miss Cody 😞. Has been doing any training? Is he likely to get a full preseason?

Cody has had issues with post surgery infection, and its a slow road to recovery.
