McAnus was so terrible yesterday. Yeah he got 22 possessions but his disposal was detrimental and on more than one occasion I saw him screw up a hand pass, follow it up, get another possession to an out of position player tallying to a total of 5 possessions, when for example Carr would have had a more efficient disposal for a total of 2 possessions.

And imagine everyones attitude here if the umpire called that high tackle on Le Cras correctly and he kicked truly?

Keep Murphy I reckon. He's been dropped after every game he's played for the season and generally torn it up in the WAFL each time. Let him play the rest of the games this season and see what happens.

I would agree, I thought Thornton was quite good yesterday besides his disposals..... I think with an intensive pre-season working hard on his disposal he will be a very good player. He is very confident with his speed/run and with that base he can only become better.

Webster apparently had 31 touches on the weekend, should deserve a call up some time soon.

i know i probably sound like a broken record McManus was horrid at the stoppages. Watch the stoppagees closely, he was playing on Priddis and Priddis led him to the ball every time. The times he did get clear and had a chance to win a clearance, he fumbled and bumbled.

There was one play in the 3rd quarter on the Eagles attacking 50m arc when he went into contest and just ran past the football. And to top it off, his disposal was horrid and nearly gave away another critical 50m in the dying minutes.

Webster deserves his spot. is Dodd back this week?

Leave Murphy in for the rest of the season, he is a good reason why our forward line functioned, yes he only got 1 goal, but thats 3 quality talls makes it hard to double Tarrant and Pav when he is in. He has had a very good season in WAFL and should be rewarded because dropping him after every game doesnt send the right message to him.
McShiit and Thornton are the 2 to be dropped for sure.
Webster may have had 31 possies but his team was smacked all over the ground, he got alot of cheap ball and wasnt that grat with it.

I thought Thornton was great. A couple of glaring turnovers which make his whole day look worse. Apart from that his runs through the centre corridor were great. Talk about breaking the lines and creating overlap. He forced their midfielders to run at him while our midfielders got loose just outside the arc.

Whilst he was lucly to get away with that clothesline... he was as ever putting his body on the line like it was his last...
It was his last derby so he deserved to play IMO.

Nothing depressing about deeply admiring him because of the service he has given to the club and his attitude despite his percieved lack of skill.

The word legend is bandied around more as an expression of how much fans love him, not because of football achievements.

I am not the biggest fan of Macca these days, but I just watched the tape and I can't see why some of you guys want to bag him. 22 possessions is good stuff, and only a few mistakes in that lot. I know he has a tendency to give away some clumsy free kicks, but he wasn't the worst out there today.

For mine, this is what should happen:

Out: Schammer, Murphy

In: Choose from Dodd & Headland (if fit), or Foster, Ibbotson, Webster. I hate to say it but NO COOK. He's been a great service, but are Freo FC a charity? No. The finals are still a remote possibility, and we should be playing the youngsters.

Schammer will come back stronger next year, but he looks quite ineffectual at the moment. Ten possies and one tackle doesn't make for good reading.

Murphy did very little again. I was a huge fan of him last year but he doesn't get much of the ball, and he made at least two big mistakes in the forward fifty. I know that there is the theory that he loses confidence by coming in and out of the team, but he has to know that he's playing for his spot every week.
