I'll agree (to disagree) and I know I will cop flack for this post.

The thread to me mean you play a team full of rookies only.

I agree dropping Bowden if he is out of form, but the guy has averaged 30+ possies a game in the last 4 weeks [admittingly a lot of uncontested possies]

I'm not saying to keep Bowden for the sake of it, but dropping a guy when he gets 30 possies a game is a bit unfair don't you think? There are 22 positions in a team. Even if you get 10 rookies in your side, surely there is room for Bowden (in the last 12 positions).

Does that mean that Melbourne should drop C.Bruce, R.Robertson and co and Essendon to drop Lucas, Lloyd, etc? I don't believe Robbo and Lucas would be dropped unless they were out of form, but Bowden seems to be the scapegoat.

Maybe there is less tolerance due to the fact that Tigers have not been doing well in the last 5 or so years, but Bowden's 15, 22, 44, 28, 28, 35, 14 possies are decent number to anyone standards, besides the first and most recent game. Yes they are uncontested, but Bowden still gets the ball, still tries to make play.

I am okay with dropping senior players where there is a drive for youth, but dropping a senior player for the sake of it...I don't know about that....

Yes, Bowden is in my Supercoach [and that's how I know he gets these high number of, yes I know, uncontested possies]. But if Lucas got dropped for the sake of it, I'd be annoyed. Lucas was dropped as he was out of form, even though Bombers have a drive for youth too.

Anyhow, Tigers are improving I must say. Good luck, but Go Bombers!

people only want him dropped because he holds up the play to much, and when he plays a bad game they all call for him to be droped.

For mine, Moore is supposed to provide far more drive off half back than he does. I've barely noticed him this year.

Past 40 games.Moore has leaked a massive ave of 2 gls per game.He has an off game and you want to drop him.

Thursfield in for??? Has to be someone because we saw yesterday how undersized we were down back against an experienced war-horse like Tredrea.

With the Bombers moving it in quickly to Lloyd & Neagle we need to reinstate our core backline from last year of Thursty, McGuane & Moore.

Raines could easily go out as well IMO and may be the one to make way for Reiwoldt who has to come in to get some structure back into our forward line.

from an outsider i'd be shocked if bowden was dropped. the only positive i could see from doing that in the short term is that the young defenders might play more direct footy on instinct as opposed to looking for bowden to give it off to etc. IMO the young players panic and look for bowden way too much.

Yeah but he was taking the 3rd best forward alot of the time. H'e too small to play on Brown, Tredrea etc. Thurtsy is a bit taller and has longer arms. He plays 5cm taller. Thursty should have never been dropped imo

Thought Collins was ordinary in the 1st half, but worked his way into the game in the 2nd and was valuable. You don't drop kids after they show a willingness to turn a bad game into a good one.

Good post. Thursfield for Polo. I suspect it might be Riewoldt for Morton, given the team rules thing and his last quarter effort, a shame. With Brown, Morton Pettifer we can actually afford to play Jack closer to goal. Raines is just inderdone, pointless sending him back after 1 game. I thought Collins played pretty well actually despite what a few here have said, does they 1%'s pretty well, knows when to shepherd and block, God knows we need more of that to prevent kicking under pressure so much. We must make sure we have enough pace to match the Bombers, and our forwards must not let Dempsey, Lovett etc run the ball easily off half back. Hopefully our following division can set us up a bit at centre breaks and stoppages and wear Ryder down.

Cant see too many changes coming this week, but we cant keep droping players after 1 bad game, you gotta give them a crack. Like Raines people are asking for him to be droped,yeh he had a shocker but so did Roughhead, Monfries, Fev etc. give him time to get back to match fitness and he'll prove his worth.

Patto for Simmonds too, just looks like a dinosaur out there.

Other than that, I think most players earnt their keep yesterday. Can't afford easy defensive rebounds, which places the onus as much on the delivery into the forward 50 as the pressure once the ball is in dispute. As usual, need to win the contested footy and curb the effectiveness of Jobe Watson in close.

Look forward to a cracker of a game (hopefully).

Riewoldt on the other hand gets dropped, cops it on the chin and goes and kicks 6 goals for coburg.
