Oddly enough, if we somehow manage to win this week it'll be our best start to a season since 2005.

Wind the clock back 3 years to 2010. In the opening game we were slaughtered by the Hawks (the eventually margin of 56 points should have been a lot greater). Come the following week people would bet both their testicles on a Collingwood victory and we only lost by a solitary point (dat Petterd non-mark). We then won 3 games on the trot after that and ended up having a fairly respectable season, so things can change very quickly regardless of the circumstances.

However, if we put in an identical performance this week, it would be very rude not to punch the panic button...several times.

Can't believe Pedersen isn't in the outs in most posts. He's first dropped for mine- due to having a stinker and more significantly, ducking his head in a marking contest.

Gillies gone, but I also wouldn't be against dropping Garland too. He was awful and has been lost for some time.

We need so much more run and midfield power, so Terlich and Magner have to come in. Kent a possibility.

Praying Dawes and McDonald are fit.

Because Sellar was worse and there's really no ****-forward knocking down the door to replace Pedo.

Alternatively, put Grimes back into the half-back sweeping role and return Watts to the forward line/wings.

Now that young Emmett Dunn has qualified as a F/S pick in 2019 (being reported that he's tearing it up in the Under 3's), we don't need to play Lynden anymore.

I'd like to see Dawes, Trengove, Magner, Terlich and Kent in the side this week.

I'd much rather go and deliver a show of intent against those who were rubbish than care about winning. Trying to build a culture, right Mark? Six of those seven were unacceptable in both their endeavour and skill. Unless they not only give 100% at training, but also at Casey, they shouldn't play for the club. I'd rather get clobbered with the likes of Clisby playing if they're busting their gut rather than watch Col Sylvia lazily ****ing move again.

Players like Sylvia should be shown the EXIT door ASAP. You can't build a quality playing group around players like him. This guy has got immense natural talent, but the heart of a pea. He's an individual, who knows he good, but plays the game only for himself & what it can offer him. If I was head coach, he would be the first player dropped or traded.

Too many tall guys with no run and spread on them. Dunn, Garland, Gillies, Sellar are all out for now.

Yep. Big concern that our recruiting over the break was mostly after KPPs. We're going overboard with talls while the game is getting faster every year. That "successful culture" we were after looks pretty boobish now too.

Blease cocked up a few times when he was on but at least he was trying to make something happen. Sellar, Gillies and Pedersen back to Casey. Garland and Dunn were bad but we can't drop 10 players every week. Get Trengove, Kent, Terlich, etc in. The way Viney and M.Jones played, it seems the less time players have spent in our system, the better.

Guys who are suggesting Magner, for one he can't be elevated unless we have a major injury..
But more importantly for me, he is as slow as a wet week and moves around the ground like Jake Spencer which when we already have McKenzie is not an option.. We were absolutely carved up on the spread yesterday and Magner certainly won't help us with that..

3. as Cannon82 mentioned above, the less time players have spent in the team, the harder they'll go. He's a young bloke, missed his whole first year of footy, would be raring to get a go in the 1's. If the bare minimum we demand is effort, I think he, and some of the other newbies (Kent, Tynan, Terlich etc.) would deliver on that at least, and who knows, maybe the example of the young'uns will rub off on the experienced guys.

If it's Sellar or Pedersen for Essendon, it's Sellar every time. Both make fundamental skill errors (Sellar more than Pedersen), but you'll never see the former duck under a markable ball or not put his body on the line.

If Cameron Pedersen thinks that we will stand for rubbish acts on the field like that in his first game for the club, he can do us all a favour and piss off now.

Our backline is far too tall and slow shortened it so it's faster and now we only have at max three talls in the backline, plus two shorts and two mediums.
Toumpas isn't ready for AFL, no shame in it but will need to work on some things before he'll be in our best 22, replace him with Taggert, deserves a debut has done everything right.
Tapscott was disgraceful and Sylvia wasn't our worst but needs to really earn his spot. I'm sick of this plodder with so much talent wasting a spot on our list. I'd rather have a kid like Kent who's doing everything he can to get a spot than a passenger like Sylvia.
Gillies straight out for Terlich
Jetta in as he had a solid pre-season, his tackling ability was superb during that time he deserves a spot.
Mcdonald, straight in.
Garland and Dunn out due to being an excess of talls who were a defensive liability on the weekend
Trengove in to help out a disgraceful midfield, Dawes replacing an underwhelming Sellar (toss of the coin with pederson). Move Grimes back to his natural habitat off half back.

Missed what Pedersen did but saw it on a replay. One of the weakest acts on the footy field I have ever seen. Squibbed it.
