If people had the choice would you rather Cotch, Lids or Dusty miss this game?

Tough question.

I reckon maybe Cotchin because it is outside class that we have as an advantage over the Dogs midfield, and Martin and Deledio probably shade Cotchin for that.

I don't under-estimate the Dogs, but they are strong in some areas and not so much in others. They are a genuinely good clearance team. Minson AA ruck and most hit-outs last season. Libba got the most clearances in the AFL last season. Boyd and Picken are great under packs too, but not flash in open space.

If we turn this game into a contested slog, they are gunna get close. If we get the ball out in space, I reckon we'll win by 10 goals.

So rather than having a specialist ruckman available, you'd rather have another depth mid (probably playing VFL). Why?
I wouldn't have him playing VFL , I'd have him doing the inside work that we have others doing who aren't that great at it, yet are dominate on the outside .
We get better inside work and outside work .
I am still not convinced Vickery is a forward , not even slightly convinced .

So, it's definitely not an achilles then.

We do seem to be very conservative about injuries currently...If we'd been playing a final, would they have been put in anyway? Did they have the option of, say, running Lids at 90% until the bye (with some chance of making it worse) or giving him a week off in a game we should be able to win anyway...Not just against weaker teams either...I know that Jacko said last week to 3121 that he probably could have played, but they decided to reduce the risk of him reinjuring it and gave him another week off (well, a run in the 2s)
We played Carlton last week. :p

Well, you're welcome to your opinions. I'll go with the people who have seen a lot more of these players than you.

Ok, even allowing that TV has a lot of improving to do, I would say that 4 goals last week & 6 for the season when not really playing all that well, is slightly convincing that he may be a forward, not totally maybe but surely slightly!

It does amuse me sometimes how people have their heroes and villains in the team...and that often, the heroes are players in the 2s who they rarely, if ever, see but they're convinced would be stars if give the chance.

So.... what is Cotchin's mystery injury then? Not the dreaded 'leg' I hope.

There is more to a game of football than goals kicked or possessions gained IMO.

Yep, winning is one of those things & I would say TV's 4 goals, out of 14, was slightly pivotal in us winning against Carlton.

Not as pivotal to the result as the week before where he won 2 of the 14 contests directed toward him .
TRIB, you said you are not even slightly convinced that TV is a forward, if goals won't convince you then what will - doesn't need you to be wholly, 50% or even 30% convinced, just slightly convinced.

A indication that he actually knows where to lead and ability to use his body would be a good start .

Fair to say we disagree, ever so slightly, on this one. Leave you to it, TV will probably kick over 50 goals this season, I'll be slightly happy with that.

He only has to perform at a little over round 1 level to achieve 50 goals . Sorry but I don't see that as being anything like acceptable .

So what would be acceptable to you? I would point out that last year, only 8 players kicked 50 goals.

In fairness he won't get 2 goals a game playing like he did Round 1 each week. He will see more donuts than 2's next to his name.

Bugger, beat me to it!:D

But he'll get more than two goals a game playing like he did in round 2, so let's say 3 goals a game, that's 66 for the year (22 rounds).
Plus he's not even in great form!

He will have days where he plays decent but has a good opponent though too and struggles. What I was getting at is if he kicks 50 he will have done well, because he won't be getting 2 per game playing like a spud every week.

Not to mention that part of the whole aim is to have 2 good forwards...If TV can be enough of a threat that he takes pressure off Jack (or Griff, or whoever) and open him up to kick an extra goal, it's a win, even if it doesn't show up on the scoreboard.
