Bit harsh on Morris. Didn't have his greatest game last night, but has shut down the oppositions best small forward many times the past few seasons.

Just basing it on what i have seen this year, pre season included. He seems to think he has to more attacking, less negating and its not working. He is just being absorbed into contests way to early then his mans free. IMO drop him or get him to go back to what worked. A lot of this I blame on the coaching team as I remember a vid where morris was told he needs to do more then stop his opponent this year.

Out: Foley, Newman
In: Jackson (Arnot), Knights

Foley just isn't up to it at the moment, needs to go back and earn his spot back I think. Newy is in a similar boat, had very limited impact on the game and Knights would play his position to a much higher standard, genuine classy half forward. Jacko in for Foley as we probably need extra inside grunt against the doggies, if he's not ready to go then Arnott is a good alternative. Wouldn't drop Morris but for the love of god let him go back to just being a lockdown defender which he is great at, looks all at sea at the moment caught between attack and defense. Eventually you'd prefer to see the likes of Grigg, Petterd, King replaced by McDonough, Lennon, Gordon, Lloyd etc, but that is a more gradual process.

B: Morris, Chaplin, Grimes
HB: Houli, Astbury, Vlastuin
C: Grigg, Cotchin, Ellis
HF: Deledio, Vickery, Knights
F: S.Edwards, Reiwoldt, Griffiths
R: Hampson, Thomas, Martin

INT: Jackson, Conca, Petterd
SUB: King

He is the type that can replace King as well if need be, Arnotts best games have been as a forward pocket

King might get a phantom suspension for his phantom kick to Waite's phantom teeth.

Imo that stat is a little over blown. He has done well on some but gets carved up by others. Over commits in 1 on 1 contests for the all for nothing spoil but only gets it done 50% of the time then we are out of position. The faux tough man is getting a little thin too. Just defend you man and be done with it.

People calling for Morris' head? Not sure how that works but before Morris, small forwards used to look forward to playing us and kicking 3+ goals each time. He has been that small lock down defender we have been crying out for.
Surely they're joking! Morris is one of the best small defenders in the comp. Plus who comes in?

Rance fell off his bike and fractured a bone in his foot. Will miss the Footscray and Collingwood games.

He plays shit against Collingwood anyway  Cloke is gonna kill us but luckily he puts most out on the full

Who replaces Morris?

Who do we have who can effectively tag a dangerous player like Dalhaus out of the game?

He wasn't the best against Carlton, but calling for a players head after 1 game is the stuff that leads to a shit feeling in a football club.

Out: Dusty (if suspended), Foley
In: Knights , Jackson (if fit)

Otherwise no changes.

Just heard that, face palm moment! Rancey, Rancey, Rancey - all those jibes about falling over and he does this!

Dusty won't get a week for that jumper punch if you can even call it that.

If anyone gets suspended it'll be the other bloke. His last punch smacked Dusty right in the chin.

Anyway
out: Foley
In: Jackson

Newman will NOT be dropped, especially whilst Rance is out and we need that extra maturity in the defence at times. Newman was amazing last night in the last quarter. We would've lost, imo, if it weren't for him

I'd leave the team and make Conca sub.

Maybe Knights in for Foley but I'd like to see him get a full game first. No way King is dropped. Morris has no replacement so he stays.

Interesting decision when Rance returns. Astbury has been our best defender. Grimes is loved and Chaplin has been ordinary.

Pre game, Jacko said he was very close for this week....Probably fit, but the medical staff decided it was too much of a risk (better to miss one more week now than risk 5-6 by aggravating things).

Never can rely on such talk entirely, but I'd say he's a good chance to be right.

I'd say Jacko for Foley will be the only change. As I said last week, early in the season, you're not going to make wholesale changes, and that is especially true after a win.

Does everyone just put in their least liked players in the outs every week and their man crushes in?

FFS Newman was critical last night. Morris plays a role others simply cannot (including constant harrassment, which works). However a couple of critical errors cost us. Dropped chest mark meant ball that was heading inside 50 actually scores at the other end, wild handball caused score from Carlton. But I don't blame him for the individual brilliance of his opponent, unstoppable at times.
Foley got 11 touches in one quarter and five minutes...at that rate a 35-40 disposal full game.

I continue to be disappointed with attempted miracles from Shane Edwards. Just doesn't play percentages and a freak point gives the ball back to Carlton. Doesn't hit the scoreboard enough for mine. Drop him? Not yet.

McDonuts might match up ok with Dogs and IMO I reckon we lacked leg speed. Subbing a little guy off for a little guy last night didn't help.

Bottom line don't see need to change but an injection of pace and run to spread the load a bit further would help.

Out: King, Foley
In: Knights, Jackson

Sub: Jackson (if underdone) or Grigg

Tough one King is, his forward pressure and tackling is very important to our forward structure, but his skills really let him down, doesn't add much else.
Foley is cooked, plain and simple, two weeks in a row with no impact from the subs vest.

Knights too good for the VFL and isn't an impact player so I don't think he would suit the subs vest.
