GROUPTHINK (noun): The practice of thinking or making decisions as a group, resulting typically in unchallenged, poor-quality decision-making.

Foley is cooked? What the **** does that even mean? It means nothing.
Just because someone else said it, does not make it fact. Nor does it make those who parrot it clever. Quite the opposite really.
No impact? Bullshit. He is having disposals at a rate of 10 a quarter during the hottest part of the game. He is getting to the contest, which is more than can be said for some. Foley achieved more in 30 minutes than Jake King achieved in 60.
Foley should be playing the entire game as part of a midfield rotation. At worst he should be subbed off, NOT subbed on.

OUT: Cotchin (rest), Conca (Rest…hamstring cramp problem)

IN: Knights + Lennon

SUB: Lennon: give Foley a few full games before completely ruling him out. Doesn't have a chance with being the sub, awful.

Cotchin rest? Wtf

At 1-1 we are in no position to rest our captain and best player. If he's sore he'll still play

I think everyone will be better off for the run against Carlton was a pretty gruelling game.

I cant see any changes this week against the Dogs

Players you expect to be in our best 22 but out for various reasons would be Rance, Jackson, Knights, Maric

with a host of others at the fringe Lennon, Batchelor, McIntosh, Edwards, McDonough, Arnot, McBean

However ..... long-term changes

Petterd - had a very good last quarter but his first 3 were very average - he AGAIN he over committed to a contest out of defence at the 16 minute mark of Q3, as he did with Prestia in Q4 last week allowing a long run and goal, allowing Yarran to run away down field. On both occasions he should have run past and blocked the run. His kicking was also woeful - remember when we had a mantra in the recruiting department that you must be able to kick?

What to do when Maric returns? If Griffiths continues on with his solid form what do we do? I'd keep him in the side and rotate Maric & Hampson of the bench with one to be subbed each week in Q3. I don't believe Maric or Hampson are that good as forwards but having all three would mean we'd be a running player down. Griffiths ruck work is more competitive then Vickery's, his kicking is better also but can he get to as many contests?

I have question marks in one way or another over Newman, King, Foley but all three also but I also see there value in the team at the moment. I'd actually expect that this is Newman's last season as he looks to have lost a yard in pace, and King's constant injury build up each season would also be of concern post 2014.

I think at seasons end we may be in a good position to bundle up 2-3 players in the trade period who have talent but need opportunity

GWS had 10 first round draft picks in their reserves last week - surely some good talent that fits our needs may be there

For mine Will Hoskin-Elliott is the player with pace and endurance we need, he is contracted until the end of 2015 but doesn't mean a trade cant be done.

O'Rourke, Jacksch, Bugg are other interesting players

Jesse Lonergan at Gold Coast, although also contracted until 2015, is another who my not see much opportunity.

Leave the outs to the selectors, but I would love to see Knights at HF, classy finisher & a smart player.

Knights looked proppy don't think he'll play. I think we'll see Jackson in and that's about it.

Jacko and Knighters I rate this guy and think he is quality. I want to see him as a permanent fixture in the side. Hope Dusty does not get red carded.

Yarran & Garlett kick straight and he would have last night.

I did say he stays in the side, but if he doesn't there are replacements available. Dea is one option when fit, Grimes can play on smalls, Batchelor is better on medium/small forwards than KPF we keep playing him on. Petterd isn't the worst going around and even McDonough has shown that he can play back if needed. The replacements might not be everyones first choice or favored players but they are there.
you can add newy and houli to that list...mind you I'd rather them not back there on small fwds. Nah Morris stays maybe with instructions to be man on man ..forgot being third man up.

Jesse Lonergan was only just drafted in 2012, surely they'd give him some more time. However, seeing as Gold Coast is loaded with midfield guns we might get a chance to NAB someone.

King either plays four quarters or doesn't play at all. Cannot understand the decision to sub him.
Foley is a horrible sub. McDonough would have been better.
Matt white is a great sub but wait didn't he go to port for more game time opportunities???....

Dropping Morris is silly. How many defenders could have stopped Garlett or Yarran last night? They played the games of their lives.
Yarran plays to his potential like that maybe once a year and we just happened to cop it.
Yarran and Garlett seem to play the games of their lives against Richmond nearly every time we play Carlton. The reason Morris! Morris is their bunny. He over commits to the contest time and time again when a team comes at us. I have stated this in another thread, 'Rabbit in the headlights'. When the pressure is on and a team comes at us he has no idea. Panic sets in. Instead of covering his man he over commits to the ball leaving his man unchecked. Players like Garlett and Yarran love this. He is scatter brained when put under pressure diving at the contest rather than keeping his feet, flying for ridiculous marks and giving away stupid free kicks. He over plays the tough man role also.
He is a hack and I have been shocked that others have not seen this. Yes he is courageous but to the point of stupidly as he over commits at far to many contests. Richmond need to look for a better defender than this bloke.

Just be glad Carlton didn't have Betts.

When Morris was on Garlett, who was on Yarran? And when he was on Yarran who had Garlett? The poor bloke was basically playing a lone role as a stopping small defender on TWO smalls who also has licence to push up the field. While he was beaten, as I said, who else would have done a better job? He needed help from others.

Name a better small defender in the competition.

King might get a phantom suspension for his phantom kick to Waite's phantom teeth.
Not condoning cheap shots but damn if one could connect Waite would be a good pick
