Forgive the intrusion, thought your boys played well today. Really rate a few of your new players, particularly Terlich who has been a great pick up for you. Do you think Viney will be back this week?

No flipping idea re: viney. We are all wondering.

Never thought I'd say this but I would rather Sellar down back than McDonald at the minute. McDonald has been smashed this season, while Sellar is handy down back. McDonald might struggle to get his spot back.
Certainly brought up an interesting point, because on one hand, Tom McDonald is only 20, maybe 21 and is defending in a horrid team, and though is in poor form it's relatively clear that he's going to play a major role in defence for many years to come. On the other hand you've got Sellar, who isn't really doing much wrong, and is playing his role reasonably well. You can't drop Frawley, and Garland is in career best form, quite burdensome if i say so myself.

That also opens up a whole other can of worms, if the defenders are playing well, and the forwards are doing what they can with limited opportunity, what the hell is going on with our mids? Happy Jones x2 are getting the footy, but defensively, and structurally we're the worst in the competition by a very long way, and that's where I start rambling on about Royal, but that's for another thread.

Viney's out for 4-6 weeks.
Came from the man himself. (his twitter account).

**** sake .....

Well in that case Byrnes if available and watts..

Thought we had a good amount of run so out goes bail and mckenzie

Frawley and garland can both take small if they have to

Really wanted to see Jones, Magner and Viney all playing together
Imagine that, three midfielders! Looks like Viney might have some turf toe.

His name's Mitch Clark, he should sound familiar, after all, not luring him may well cost you a premiership.

Seriously, we have enough talls sitting on the sidelines watching, we don't need any more. He can be a good player, but he's shown with a couple of serious injuries how dangerous it can be putting all of your eggs in one basket.

Glad you guys have seen the light and gotten rid of Schwabb and Connelly.

Anyone think Fitzy could be a good option, maybe instead of Gawn? Fitzy has been very solid in the VFL this year and offers more up forward, especially at a big ground like Subi.

Viney out for 4-6 is a shame.

I would get Fitz in if gawn needed a rest, other then that i see no reason to change

I'd be very hesitant in dropping Gawn. Think he's a good presence in the forward line and also very good for team spirit.

Tough call on Jetta.

Agree he wasnt in our best but along with Tappy was among our most physical.Physical needs to be our priority.

Yeh I thought Jetta was alright yesterday, and he knows how to stick and hold a tackle. I don't see any reason for him to be dropped.

Watts in for Toumpas might be the only change.

Agree with this. His kicking is ordinary, but he isn't afraid to throw his weight around he seems to be a very popular player within the team.

Been eyeing this game off for awhile now. This has the potential for a real smacking. Luckily for us Pavlich and Sandilands are out, Hill could possibly miss and Walters who is in great form has now gone down injured. Not to mention Griffin and Bradley being out long term for them as well. But I still fear the worst. Freo have a fantastic ability to shut down scoring. We could be looking at no more than 4 or 5 goals in this game if we continue to enter the F50 30 odd times a match. Mundy, Mayne, Fyfe, Barlow, Pearce, Ballantyne should prove tough to handle.

With Freo lacking talls, and Patterson Stadium a massive ground, we need run, so Bail probably survives another week. I'd be tempted to keep the same team, minus Toumpas of course.

OUT
Toumpas

IN
Watts

Bail and McKenzie lucky, but we need runners over in Perth, and because of the large injury list to Freo, we have caught them at a good time. Still expecting a 10-12 goal loss however. Wouldn't be surprised if Neeld gives Gawn a rest for a week and looks at Fitz. He deserves one more crack at senior level. Not sure it will be this week, but it should be soon if he continues to go ok at vfl...

I like the look of Gawn, he provides a good target and seems a cult figure with everyone - just like Kepler is for us. Would be a shame not to be able to see him live.

Hill will definitely miss, which is a shame because we'll struggle to replace his speed. I think Garland is a good defender on smalls and could do a decent job on our only good small forward left in Ballas. If Walters was still there then I'd be confident one of them would've gone off, but he's a big out for our structures.

I wouldn't be too pessimistic about a crazy smacking (i.e. 10 goals) because we really do have a shell of a team and we have our best two players out on each line (except defence), not to mention zero key forward options. The biggest win we've had all season has only been 45 against the Suns, followed by 28 against the Bulldogs.

Here's hoping for no injuries for either team :thumbsu: I know we sure can't afford to have any more...

I wish he had the luxury of being able to drop Trengove. Unfortunately there is a line of others (Nicho, McKenzie) who need to go before him, and we don't have anyone to replace them even if we wanted to.

I like the idea of just keeping it to In: Watts, Out: Toumpas

Why play Byrnes, even if he kicks 20 goals for the year it doesn't matter, all it's doing is stopping development of a kid on list.

It's been a disgraceful decision picking up tried players when we have kids on list who are similar heights etc who need games. We would be better off with 5 other kids on our list right now. Gillies, Peterson, Rodan, Byrnes will take us a
NOWHERE.

As for this weekend we are the turnover kings, we put it in the TIgers laps time and time again, on the longer deck this week good luck. Not being able to kick 25m to targets at this level is a disgrace.

We had ample footy to hurt tigers and couldn't make the pill land on the vast spaces of the G

ah yes, kids + game experience = success, aka the Bailey model

If Byrnes deserves a spot over some kid then give it to him and make that kid earn a spot on the team rather than just handing out games. giving young players undeserved games in the seniors doesn't develop them, and it certainly doesn't give them the right attitude.

The main thing holding Fitzy back from being an AFL player is his defensive work, according to the VFL review - and it seems like it could be the only thing.

Banter with Shockers supporters? Not sure its worth it after the quality of the Ninthmond thread.
