Two late omissions from the Power team tomorrow. Ollie Wines and Travis Boak have come down with gastro. In comes Atley and Drew for their first games of the year. Well done to the new boys.
Probably would have had more effect if it was Ryder & Wines.

After the great result from Sydney, the team selection for the Fremantle game just screamed "no change". Now we bring in a very underdone Impey. Currently I rate Impey as a potentially above average AFL player. Since being brought into the team he has managed a few spectacular cameo plays that have brought the house down and then he will disappear off the face of the earth for long periods. Just now not quite to AFL standards.

Eddy, unfortunately, did not get a great deal of play time against Sydney due to the fact that Robbie spent more time in the forward lines and hardly went to the centre. Not Brett's fault. This man, in my humble opinion, will turn into a important cog into our team. A replacement for Jay. He just needs quality game time!!

I would hate to see Brett turn into a Butcher Mark 2, due to unreasonable team selections.

Carn, I know we've been burnt in the past, but no point catastrophising just yet.

How is impey very underdone?

Can never have enough talls in a team. Well thats what my old footy coach used to say. Anyway what would be the average height for an AFL player? I would guess around 6'3 in the old terms and to me thats pretty tall. Really dont see a lot of future for short players in AFL unless your something special.

Not sure what it says about our structures that we can take out Eddy for Impey. Very much sounds like we still pick players first and positions second.

Trengrove is lucky he can ruck and the defence is so sacrosanct that it can't cope with a player vacating it for a quick spell in the ruck because he's a witches hat starting in the 50.

Hoff hasn't been KPF since 2007. He's a tall Aaron Young who can swing back.

Eddy is still our no. 2 key forward. Ryder is no. 3.

We're going backwards again. How can anyone be happy about a move taking us closer to last year after our most complete team performance 'all played well' game in a long time where we had no significant deficiencies in our setups, structure, and game?

Krakouer & Eddy should be in our best 22 in place of Amon & Sam Gray

So much this.

Does anyone here feel comfortable that a Dixon-Trengove tall forward set up can sustain success over the duration of this year?

Forget today as a one-off.

What are the coaches' longterm plan to make us dangerous right through the year?

Adelaide have four bigger blokes who can mark the footy close to goal. What's the bet that if Jerkins misses this week, they will replace him with a tall who can pinch hit in ruck. It's about maintaining structure against all opponents.

Dixon is best playing across HF.

Trengove is a combative forward but isn't going to break a game open with 4goals in a half.

If Impey really was too good to resist (which I think is very arguable), then S Gray or Amon could have easily made way for him.

I have lost a fair bit of faith that Ken and his crew actually get it after this one selection.

Shattered by the lack of foresight in their decision to drop Eddy.

Was quite disturbed by Ken's comments that Impey was available and "in our best team."

What has he done to deserve this honour?

Declaring someone best 22 without them having any runs on the board really just looks like blind favouritism to me. He hasn't earned that reputation yet in the way that players like Boak, Gray, Wingard, Polec have.

Hinkley believes he is in our "best 22 players". I'm not sure it could be simpler to understand.

What has he done? Effectively been a "best 22 player" since he was drafted which is no mean feat, I'm not sure what else he is supposed to do.

Blind favouritism is probably thinking someone is a walk up start after a 3 possession game.

Completely disagree.

To those saying he is best 22 and was last year need to consider who he was keeping out of the side to earn his spot.

Jake Neade lol.

It's like saying "he's the least shit so we pick him." Then over the course of your time at port, this warps your thoughts on how good or bad he actually is. Being the best of our shit extra smalls should not make you automatic best 22. Now with the added issue of them breaking up what was a winning structure.

This is even more puzzling when Impey is coming off a JLT series which was beyond putrid.

I hope he plays well, but I'm worried it justifies the selection for all time when he returns to normal programming against the crows.

BECAUSE HE MADE THE TEAM BETTER!

It's that simple! He didn't play bad last week. He was very quiet indeed but I wouldn't say bad. No player was. The entire team clicked and now that has changed under the most tenuous of reasons.
