Changes vs Fremantle

In: McGovern, Waterman
Out: Allen, Hutchings

We need to stop thinking Allen will make it as a defender his year. He is being asked to be ready to play too many roles and he again looked all at sea in defence and we certainly do not need the height.

Barrass is our best lock down tall defender and I would rather see him get through a full WAFL game and not rush him back - does not make sense against a Freo missing Tabernar, Lobb and Hogan.

My inclusion with Waterman is for him to play a more defensive forward role on Wilson. He kicked 4 in the WAFL and I want us to keep the mix right.

If we want someone to tag Hill, then Nelson is an option so would bring in Cole.

Petruccelle is a junior/fringe player and my policy on anything but A Graders is to make them come through the WAFL.

Out: Schofield Hutchings Masten(gotta go) O Allen(unlucky) Cameron
In: Barrass McGovern Waterman M Allen Petruccelle

Nelson Barrass Sheppard
Hurn McGovern Jetta
Gaff Redden Sheed
Cripps Darling Ryan
Rioli Kennedy Petruccelle

Ruck: Natanui Yeo Shuey
Int: Waterman M Allen Duggan Hickey

Out - Hutchings, Hickey or Allen ( really unlucky, I’ll say Allen is the omission)

In - Gov and Barrass

I can’t see Cole getting back in for Nelson in the immediate future, have to give Nelson some credit, his career is on the line and he isn’t letting us down.

Looks like cole was reported in the WAFL anyway, not sure what for though. Anyone?

Come on West Coast. Let’s 9-0 this lot.

Straight on our board after a win looking for ammo, and we're supposedly the obsessed ones? ;)

Btw I thought you didn't deserve to win up until the last 6-7 minutes when the Hawks started playing for stoppages with a 1 point lead. Hawthorn didn't deserve it doing that shit with so much time left.

Worst of luck next week.

FB Hurn Barrass Shep
HB Duggan Gov Jetta
C Redden Sheed Gaff
HF Allen Darling Cripps
FF Rioli Kennedy Ryan
R NN Yeo Shuey
INT Hickey Nelson Masten Petch

Out: Schofield, Hutchings, Cameron
In: Barrass, Gov, Petch

Positional Changes: Allen back to the forward line. No more contesting ruck

If Petch hasn't recovered, keep Cameron in
If Hutch can recover, take out Masten

Not usually my style I must admit. Not obsessed, more that I find your board mildly amusing. 😉

Worst of luck to you too. 👍

Do we need a tagger for the Collingwood game in 2 weeks?
If we do, it might be good to introduce a new/replacement tagger early in the next week Derby game.
Ah Chee had 10 tackles in the WAFL vs the Bulldogs. He might get this role?

Does anyone know if Josh Smith can play the tagging role?

If not, then:

In: Gov, Barass, Brander, Cole
Out: Nelson, Schoey (unlucky), Masten, Hutchings :(

If Josh can tag, then him over Cole. My argument is Allen provides more utility than Masten or Schoey even though both excel at things that Allen doesn't. But Allen helps our structure more, is the future, and as NN workload increases we can mess with not needing one of Hickey/Vardy and instead use Allen/Yeo in ruck for 10 mins each later in the year. Not right now or in the next few weeks but if NN match fitness improves then we can consider it. Schoey is easily the most unlucky guy in our list as the other 6 defenders are fit and ready. He is straight back in if any def goes down. Would have liked to see more from Cole in WAFL but am naming him for structure, not direct merit. I think Brander's WAFL performance last week earns him a recall for a bit given Masten and Nelson both not too hot. I figure Rioli can run through the midfield a little bit more and share some of that with Brander and Duggan at times to sort out the structure.

Hopefully Nelson keeps his spot, think he was alright today!
Cole has been rubbish all year, until he puts in a solid body of work in the WAFL he should stay there

Gov a certain starter so he’s back in

Barring a miracle Hutchings is a certain out

Conceivably it could be as simple as that with Allen moving forward to replace Hutch and Gov resuming normal transmission down back. But I think that’s unlikely

Simpson seemed to think Barrass would be available next week and he’ll come in if that’s the case

Makes selection really tricky as we strive to find the right balance for what’s likely to be another wet game against a side that likes to scrap and drag you down to their level

Gov and sexual in means Schofield is out. Retaining Oallen gives us an overly tall look but judging from the way Simpson spoke about him in the post game presser I’d suggest he isn’t coming out anytime soon

Do we risk dropping Hickey and rely on Allen as second ruck. Seems dangerous and I thought the hickster had a solid game

So I’ve got the sexual gov combo in for Starksy schoey and Hutch

Assuming no injuries from what was a physical encounter that might be all she wrote but.......

Masten

Had little to no influence on today’s game and if he keeps his spot he can thank Hutchings hammy because he’d be a definite out otherwise. That said it’s hard to justify retaining him especially given a number of players put their hand up in the WAFL

Smith - 28 possessions and a couple of goals is the most like for like
Cole - backed up a BOG game against East freo with another solid outing against south freo. Could make it a hatrick against freo sides if he gets a recall with Nelson pushing up into the midfield
Achee - named in the best and his bigger body could be useful against freo’s midfield

Also Cameron had a quietish game but I expect Petch to remain unavailable so he gets his first taste of a derby

Normally after a 4 goal effort Waterman would be in the mix but Oallen would need to come out for that to happen so unlucky for misty

TLDR - ****ed if I know

Nelson feels like the best suited to take hutchings role, if its deemed required. So i thnk cole or rotham may come in for hutch.

Schofield out for gov.

Barass for cameron, allen back to fwd line. although id prefer cameron stays in. Perhaps masten out who has no Business staying in the team...

Petruccelle is a player whose key weapon is speed- I dont think thers is such a thing as a one week hamstring - i would not risk him or his development

Hutchings replaced by Watson
Nelson into the midfield
Allen Replaced by McGovern
Schofield Replaced by Barrass

Petrucelle May replace Cameron depending on his fitness.
I’d like to see Brander replace Masten but not likely this week

Not sure Barrass comes straight in now. Basically hasn’t played for 3 months then has missed another week with the cork after his comeback game. We have no need to rush him in. Plus we already have Nic on limited minutes, do we need another player with no match fitness?

Out Hutch In Gov
