There is very good reason for it Pete... I would give him one more chance simply because if he is dropped I think that will be curtains...

I don't know what the club is thinking at this point, but I would hope they vehemently disagree with you.

If given the opportunity, he will come good at the exact time we need him to come good. Mark my words, Freddy boy.

If I am going to be serious here, I actually think Freddy has got a point. If Callinan does get dropped, he may well not return. I reckon this is the harsh reality of the situation and why I hope he is given an opportunity to find a bit of form again in the crows side.

I think they'll pick Petrenko before Callininan as petrenko has a future and lots of devlopment and is the token zippy indigenous dood all teams seem to like. I think they'll pick Vince before both of them. I think they'll pick Porps before all 3 and I'll think they'll pick mcay before all 4 of them. I also think that when tippet returns , we'll go in top heavy until Tippet is reliable. That would mean a small guy is going to miss out.

Callinans last month has really made his selection out of his control, but then he is another channel 7 syndrome victim. Nothing happens or no one gets noticed until channel 7 says so . They talked him up about a month ago.

I would like him to stay in the team... But his tackle count in the past 3 weeks has been as bad as his scoring involvements. Not trying to be Neil Craig but if he aint scoring he needs to work harder on keeping the ball in our forward line. Mark my words Pete:)

Nobody is going to remember these three weeks in September. Nobody.

This period of the year is historically a point where people overreact on form and selection. They think because August is the closest month to September, it somehow is any more indicative of what's going to happen in finals than any other month.

Write this down. What happens over the next month has NO bearing on what will happen in finals. None. Nil. Ziltch.

Take that to the bank Freddy and lock it in for five years at compounding interest.

Callinan is too good to banish to the SANFL. He will come good. Our forward line is the most efficient in the AFL. Callinan and Petrenko have been a huge part in that.

I think Callinan should play this week since it is likely to be our only genuine test before the finals. The players who are in the 22 against Brisbane will look great and will downhill ski into the finals but it will mean absolutely nothing.

I'm sure Sando will check out the performance of all of our players against Hawthorn, Collingwood, Sydney, Geelong and North Melbourne. Who cares how well a player does against GWS or the Gold Coast. Callinan played well in the meaningful matches earlier in the year but his last month has been poor.

My major concern has been his ability to stay healthy for a full season. Could he be carrying an injury at the moment?

Gold passes allround then:thumbsu:

The lead in to the finals will be used to settle positions and the side, it wont be used to give fringe players some game time.
Some of those you have mentioned will only be considered if we have injuries, others may get a crack depending on team structure and balance.

I only think McKernan and Henderson are a realsitic chance to come in for structural puproses. The others have had very little or no opportunity during the year, therefore will only come in for injuries.

I agree that the last three weeks willbe used to settle the side that will take on the first final. I think Henderson is a real chance to come back in. How about Martin?

McPharlin out would be a big one for us - in particular if Kurt plays - I can't see grade A potatoes Zac and McPhee holding Tex and Tippett.

We need to break even with Mundy, Fyfe and Barlow but should be able to. Will pest #1 (Crowley) go to Thommo??

Truck needs to hold Pav (not literally) who always seems to play well at AAMI.

The other pest/hobbit will need a tight rein. Not sure we have anyone quick enough to go with him (shades of Davey and Jetta last week).

I reckon Tag Fyfe out the game with VB straight away. Fyfe wont be able to run off the fittest man in the AFL. Pav is going to be a worry. I think Talia should go with him though. I reckon he will be too quick and play too far up the ground for truck. Also good learning experience for Talia. If we can restrict their clean forward 50 entires this shouldn't be a problem.

Fyfe basically can't be tagged, huge size for a mid 192cm and close to 90kg's,good speed, incredible cardio, great at contested ball and incredible at contested marking....Hilly is way easier to stop.

Hoping for maca to get off which should set the game up to be a classic contest.

On the Pets, Nutta debate, both have been down on form in the last month and we have missed their goal output as well. Tippett coming back will hopefully help this. Think AFGM is right that Freo is the last real finals test so expect both to play this week.

Being concerned with players height vs Fyfe is a pointless process, noone can go with him, even if they were tall enough he'd jump over them and outrun them, if they are going down the line it's of no real importance he's going to be having to contest with ruckmen.

These ideas that Jaenche has failed come from what? Not seeing an improvement in transition when he's not in the side. Seeing a distinct lessening of it. Not many if any in the back half who can get the ball to travel like him.

Small forwards have 2 problems right now, less quick quicks combined with poor inside 50 kicks which get the contest killed and less targets down forward.
Efficiency has gone down considerably.

Yep, the form of both Pets & Nutta are a concern. With Tippett returning soon & we decide to play a taller forward line with Stiffy as the utility, 1 could easily miss out. Would play them both this week, but put them on notice.

It's a good time to play Fremantle, they have a healthy list and are in good form. It will be a test for us.

I think we will need to be switched on for most of the game to win however over the last few weeks we have been flat, particularly early in the game.

I think it will be Fremantle by 24 points.

I honestly feel Freo will get heave ho'd by us easily! (Pun intended!) ;)

Crows by between 12 and 20 points in my opinion!

There are only three gold passes available and Dogga, Stiffy and Nutta grabbed them at the start of the season.

There is a day pass but that has to be shared by Symes, Tambo and Knighta.

Truck has a lifetime pass which is fair enough given the number of times he has carried our defence on his back over the last five years.
