Is it too late for him to qualify? If so, then yes he can be dropped.

If Jacobs has a shocking next month, do we turf him out for September?
Form is temporary. Class is permanent.
Call it gold passes if you want.

I agree partly with you Pete. Jacobs is slightly different. We have no real other option as number 1 ruck. However class will eventually shine through in times of need I agree.
Having said all that form is integral. Remember our 06 season. We were on fire until about 5-6 weeks from the finals and started to stumble. I know injury played its part but our form was terrible. This showed in our finals performances.
I am a strong believer in winning form is good form. So whilst our games leading up to the finals would seem somewhat softer if we go in with a 5 game winning streak players will gain a lot of confidence from that and it should carry on through to the finals. If we get beaten its because we are not up to it not because of form.

Where would you rank Callinan in terms of importance to our club?
He's fourth in our goalkicking list, one behind Porplyzia and a half a dozen behind Tippett, with daylight after him. So at the moment I'd say he's pretty important.
People expecting four goals and 20 touches from him every week have no understanding of the role of a small forward.
Please put a number on it Pete? I would say he has spent almost the most minutes up forward this year aswell so I would expect him to be fourth at the very least
Lets look at last season. Collingwood were unbackable until the wheels fell off around this time.... Remember Heath Shaw, Maxwell, Malthouse and Buckley?
Momentum is everything in sport... Try telling Collingwood that loss in the last game of the year vs Geelong didnt have ramifications!
I did put a number on it - 24 goals. The next highest goal kicker in the team is a midfielder - Sloane, with 16.
He's the best crumbing forward in the team, by a stretch.
With all due respect, I think you're the one charged with the burden of proof here.
Not sure if you are agreeing with me or not
I did say form is integral but its not everything.
Played like a politican Pete.
He's in the team Freddy. If you're arguing for him to be out, burden of proof = you.
Walker was dropped when leading goal scorer for us previously so think 4th pretty insignificant really .He's fourth in our goalkicking list, one behind Porplyzia and a half a dozen behind Tippett, with daylight after him. So at the moment I'd say he's pretty important.

I reckon Tag Fyfe out the game with VB straight away. Fyfe wont be able to run off the fittest man in the AFL. Pav is going to be a worry. I think Talia should go with him though. I reckon he will be too quick and play too far up the ground for truck. Also good learning experience for Talia. If we can restrict their clean forward 50 entires this shouldn't be a problem.
Fyfe is a hard one to tag, he seems to create space in packs, and takes contested marks like a ruckman. He is usually under a tag (not usually the first tag though, that has been going to Hill, who's kicks are more damaging).
It should be a cracker. I think you'd be mad to play Tippett yet, most concussions they will say 1 week rest for the first, then 2 extra for the second and 4 for the third, so I doubt they'd rush him back for this. Better to have him primed for the finals rather than risking his entire playing future.Fortunately, our mids have found some form in the last few weeks, and unlike last year, we are building towards the finals, instead of fading fast as we came into the finals. We will miss Luke, but we have a couple of defenders in the WAFL showing form (Faulks/Silvagni and some are even suggesting Jack Anthony, or pushing Kepler back and bringing in a forward - not sure who'll get the nod). Our defence is more of a team effort, so hopefully whoever they have coming in is up to speed on the team dynamic.
Adelaide have been very good this season, especially at AAMI, but I think you'll see a more cohesive team than the one you ran over in the last quarter earlier in the season.
I'm hoping Pav kicks a bag, and our defence stands tall without Luke, as it will be a great contest if that happens.
Don't try and twist the argument. I have said he should be given another week. .
Sorry to disappoint you but he will be playing and will help stretch your defence with Mcpharlin out. 21 days since his last minor concussion
All of his concussions have been minor ones. Especially the last one. Everyone responds differently and 3 weeks could well be all he needs if the doctors are happy with how he's shaping up. Looking forward to having Kurt back out there...Don't get me wrong, I'd rather that we play you at your best. My concern is for his welfare, not our defence. If the medical team thinks he is right to go, and he is selected to play, then I wish him good luck (but not too good ;-) )
If it was Fyfe coming back from multiple concussions, I'd be worried about bringing him back too early. There is a reason the AFL is making all moves it can to protect the head.
Fair enough.
We can resume the argument this time next week then.
Much as like to see Kurt back this week keep thinking that maybe another week to be sure .
Lets face it has problems once more this year then season all over.
Then of course there is the word that from this site that AFL set next week as to be first game back so be interesting to see how real that story is.
