In: Moyd, Jong, Minson/Campbell, Biggs

Out: Stevens (sore), Smith (Inj.), Hunter, Goodes

Roberts stays in, want him + Talia in the team for the rest of the year, bar injury. Need to pump the game time into them. Cordy stays in, try him in a similar role to Blicavs at Geelong. Campbell/Minson to come in as first ruck against Sandilands, depending on who plays better in the reserves. If Jong is no good, Hunter keeps his spot.

Minson simply has to come back in next week.

Cordy did ok around the ground today, but his ruck work is simply not up to it. We are getting monstered in clearances with Cordy in the ruck.

If St Kilda's rucks can dominate Cordy then God help us if we put him up against Sandilands.

Not sure Fletcher has a match up next week?

Roughead to Taberner (sp?) and Talia to pav?

Maybe bring Biggs in his place for more run.

Calmed down a bit but still pretty flat and gutted

We need players that can play Bevo's style and do the pressure and work rate we require.

Out:
Hunter - no where near good defensively just doesn't chase hard enough
Smith - Injured
Stevens - Can't see him getting up this week
Webb - Looked extremely tired
Cordy - thought he was much better this week but need a better match up for sandilands

In:
Minson - Sandilands match up
Wallis - Well be a handy in
M Boyd - If right just comes in
Biggs - Should be right to go
Jong/Dale - reports said Jong 10 fays or 1-2 weeks so fair chance to be right if not Dale in and as sub

Out: Hunter

That's the only absolutely essential change (apart from Clay of course :().
Hunter's welcome back in the seniors when he can play with the ferocity, courage and defensive intent of his 43 teammates. Could be a while.

Couldn't agree more. I remember Beveridge making mention of the men of mayhem non-negotiable this week which are selfless, compete always and manic pressure. He failed on at least two of those, probably all three. Surprised if he stays in the side.

.

We had more clearances and centre clearances today, Longer getting more hitouts had no impact whatsoever on result

Without looking at the stats I would say Sandi and Clarke are very good at hitouts to advantage (stats may say otherwise). So Freo could do a lot more damage than other clubs have from the advantage if Ayce is in the ruck .

Having said that, I didn't midn his game at all. For the first time in a long time he took some contested marks.

Cordy played second ruck/forward role to perfection today, unfortunately that meant we had no first ruck.
Our midfielders over the last three games have had to work twice as hard as they should have.
The first ruck role is to give our mids first use of the ball, Cordy fails in this miserably. If Minson had played a game like that, people would have been screaming for him to be dropped. Cordys best game to date has been equivalent to one of Minsons worst games.
If we are going to concede the hit-outs we may as well just play another midfielder.
We won two games with Minson rucking, then the Hawthorn game which we were never going to win.
Minson did alright in the pre season game VS Collingwood as well.
I just think a lot of people are trying to make up reasons for the continual Cordy selections, smacks of the reasoning behind the non selection of Talia last season.
Newsflash, the coach and the selection panel do not always get it right, i thought last season taught us that.

OUT- Bontempelli, Boyd, Cordy, Crameri, Dahlhaus, Dickson,
Honeychurch, Hrovat, Hunter, Johannisen, Macrae,
Murphy, Picken, Roberts, Roughead. Stringer, Talia
Wood, Webb, Goodes, Stevens, Smith:mad:.

IN- whoever is left.

I think we need to rest some players this week, pity there
was no VFL game saying that it may work in our favor.

lol. no. Blicavs is a genetic freak, a guy his size has no right to move in the way he does. Cordy is not a genetic freak so playing him as an on baller would be disastrous.

I have this sneaking suspicion that Stringer has injured his groin or somewhere around there. Was struggling quite a bit by the end of third quarter. Could see him being rested this game. Feeling Minson has to come in to combat Sandi, could go with Cordy again to totally nullify Sandi around the ground but not sure if he is having as much impact outside of the ruck anyway.

Out: Smith, Stringer, Cordy, Hunter
In: Boyd, Redpath, Minson, Biggs

Hmmm, didn't feel that way watching live but there you go.

I still reckon Cordy has his work cut out against Sandilands, have to bring back Minson.

I think they needed Grants pace today and he is 10x better defensively than Hunter.
In Minson Grant Moyd Wallis
Out Smith :( Stevens Stringer inj Cordy
Yes it was Cordy's best game. Still didn't mean is was better than Wil's worst game. When ur light on mids you can't having him doing the ruck work.

Out: Smith (inj.), Webb (rest), Hunter/Hrovat
In: Wallis, M Boyd, Minson

I think Minson (or maybe even Campbell) needs to come in against Sandilands. Cordy won't be able to compete with him and maybe with some confidence after today's game, he can start clunking them up forward. Roughy looked absolutely cooked in that last quarter, was out on his feet. Will be even tougher next week if he is expected to follow Clarke all over the ground.

Webb needs a week off in my opinion. I like him a lot, very composed, looks like a natural. Was another, of many, who ran out of legs. Freshen him up now and straight back in, in a week or two.

Hunter probably deserves another week after really strong VFL form, can see him making way if Wallis is right to come back in.

Roberts and Goodes omitted.
Smith injured.

Minson, Boyd, Wallis in.

If Jong is good to go then Hrovat out too.
Hunter gets another crack. He wasn't bad today (though the stuff I get on here and read tonight....), and will thrive alongside the Boyd/Wallis/Jong types we were missing today.

Ayce took some nice marks and did some good things today. But his utter ineptitude in the ruck contest is brutal. Not dropping worthy, but bring in Minson to help out against Sandilands and sub one off in the 3rd.

I get the whole team defense zoning thing. But when the ball is a kick away from goal, you need to get a man. Unfortunately Fletch wasn't great today. Had friends down back though, the amount of times our defenders were out of position but got let off the leash by poor skills....

OUT: Cordy, Goodes, Hunter, Webb, Stevens, Hrovat, Roberts
IN: Dale, Moyd, Wallis, Minson, Jong, Biggs

I thought Cordys game yesterday would have settle a few people down, but nup. Seems to me that those that want him out will find a way to justify their slating of him one way or another. Sometimes you have to concede that a bloke played well and perhaps you sometimes get things wrong. Nothing wrong with being wrong now and then. Is there?

Jong isn't going to be back.
I saw him in the ground and he was in a sling. I'll be very surprised if he plays a week after being in a sling.
