He hasn't exactly been tearing it up, but he does show signs that he could handle AFL level as he has good composure and skills under pressure. Not sure if this is the week I'd have brought him in though, as his lack of speed might be exposed by the Suns.
He's been building fitness and we need to know the state of the list going forward.
I'd be disappointed if we didn't play him before the end of the year. He's probably got the next few weeks to determine whether we give him a shot next year.

Good point - but is selecting Prudden ahead of Crameri, dale and Webb - selecting to win or for development?

Given players can play multiple roles I'd say it's a balancing act and probably a bit of both - if we want another guy who plays inside mid and can win his own ball he's a decent selection, it may help by lightening the load on a player like Koby Stevens who gets a few more forwardline minutes and less midfield time in a hotter, humid game. On the other hand Crameri is a seasoned performer and we are developing his midfield craft

From what I've seen Prudden is onball or back of centre, and slow. Honey and McLean are fwd of centre players and quickish.

Hunter is fwd of centre I suppose but not overly quick either.

Boyd and Talia would be slower than the blokes they replace in Rough and Hamling respectively.

Against a pretty quick GC team can see us being outrun big time.

Maybe bev does what saints and Carlton have done to us and clogs it up?

Hopefully the outcome is different if we are adopting losing teams tactics

I'm certain Bevo is coaching for today and tomorrow in regards to seeing what players can or can't do but I've heard him say on numerous occasions that he doesn't gift games... And from what I've seen thus far I'd say he's been true to his word. I have no reason to doubt the Prudden inclusion this week is any different.

I would back us to execute a tactic better then those two teams, that's the difference.

Crameri has gone the way of the entire 2012 essendon asada squad
They must have all received bad news from their lawyers recently
We are a better team with him up and about
Very pleased t Boyd is back in
I really hope hunter brings some defensive pressure or he will yo yo back to the vfl
Pruden needs a chance - his church has all but folded - it needs a miracle to restore it
Good to see talia get another chance but hammers must be injured to have missed

Prudden would definitely be playing for his career these next few games. Feel that Cordy was in a similar boat earlier in the season. If Prudden can pull it together with a modest game then he could be in for the next few weeks. If he bombs hard then I can see him delisted at the end of the season.

Really hope Hunter can pull it together too. Will either up his trade worth or force his way into the seniors.

Gonna be a great game to watch if only to see how the two of them go.

Prudden will be fine. Won't set the world on fire, but he'll give us solid performances.

Will be on the list next year.

Hes gone on record saying that he rewards vfl preformances and isnt afiard to drop players aka minno macrae to make them earn their spot

Roughead is one of three Bulldogs forced out of the side with injury.

Mitch Honeychurch (back), Toby McLean (shoulder) and Joel Hamling will miss the game against the Suns.

Defender Michael Talia has been recalled after spending six weeks in the VFL, while highly prized recruit Tom Boyd returns to the side after missing last Saturday's won over Carlton with knee soreness.

Lachie Hunter's impressive VFL form has earned him a place back in the side.

Young midfielder Josh Prudden will make his long awaited senior debut after a horror run with injury over the past two seasons.

The 20-year-old's first year at the club in 2013 as marred by an ankle injury, while a knee injury restricted him to just four games in the VFL last season.

The Age expert tipsters have all tipped us. 23-1 with the Village Idiot tipping the Suns. Am I missing something? Extremely nervous about the game!

We have a great record up there but we have some big outs and they have some big ins. Definitely 50/50 on this one.

Footscray will have a different looking side! No Hrovat, Talia, Hamilton, Prudden, Webb, Hunter and I'm probably missing some! Add to that there won't be any players coming back from the ones!

I'll probably attract the ire of other supporters for this...but I think we're being severely overrated by the media at the moment. Recently opposition sides have set up very well behind the ball, closed off our run and forced us to either kick long to a contest (very bad for us) or over-possess the ball. They're also stretching our defenders and forcing us to decide between an open defence (where our deficiencies are made very clear) or conceding extra men at the contest, which is not ideal. Dahlhaus and Wallis are copping more attention meaning that teams are stopping us from the source also. All of this combines to push us ever closer to the McCartney game style, where our weaknesses (poor contested marking, average skills, lack of fitness, meh one-on-one defending, poor running patterns up forward, etc) are more prevalent. We're not playing badly, we're just beginning to face new challenges, and it's going to be interesting to see how we react.

That's not to say I'm predicting the wheels to fall off - just that we're getting to the point where our game style is no longer hiding our weaknesses. We're being worked out, and our form has dropped a bit as a result (also due to having so many inexperienced types in the team that are unlikely to contribute for a full season). Despite this, we're maintaining the positive media coverage that we earned in the first half of the season. Not that I'm complaining...just hope we're not one poor loss away from the bandwagon emptying.

Ah, OK. Things are being written here like they're official! Was searching everywhere for the teams! :D

That's why I don't read this thread until I read the offical announcements. I just jump on to have a look at annoyed postings because the
selections didn't jive with what posters wanted ; )

I hear you, but ...

Every match (it seems) we hear supporters saying we are overrated, yet we sit seventh, after a really tough early draw, whilst teams like Collingwood are starting to find out where they really stand.

We're seventh, Suns are bottom (or second last?). Admittedly, Gary Jnr is back, the Suns are playing better, but it seems that every week supporters are saying "I'm really worried about this one Team X has been playing good footy for two weeks.'

Don't be so bloody pessismistic ;-)

We also have not had anything remotely like a settled lineup all year. We have had changes for every game, to the point where it has massively changed the structure of the team (think the Cordy experiment). This wold not help a lot with continuity of gamestyle or form.
The good thing is how good will we be once we are settled.
