Hartlett has really gone cold hasn't he? His tackling is also clumsy . An AFL quality player in the SANFL should be racking up the possies. Maybe he senses his time is up and has lost the desire/edge

I have zero issues with coaches working with players to try and get them into the first 22. This is literally part of the head coaches job, to ensure all players in the squad can play senior football. But as you said, its the way it seems he owes it to Hamish to be back in the side, like its an inconvenience he was dropped that does my head in.

That's my point. Earn it, he has been average at SANFL level.

the coaches would put a lot of emphasis on training which we don’t see, though in fairness ken does show an extraordinary amount of faith in Hartlett which i do not share.

I’d also hazard that it could simply be lip service

I don't mind Hartlett as sub in an away game on the Gold Goast, where the 23rd player who may or may not be used won't make a difference to the result - so long as he is straight back out after that and it isn't a sneaky way to get him back in the 22.

With so few players left in the SANFL genuinely pushing for a spot at the moment, better to leave the few who may need to be called on in the AFL to definitely get a game this week than fly to the Gold Coast to (hopefully) only sit on the bench or play half a quarter as his only game time this week.

I assume that's why Frederick is the travelling emergency and not the sub, so in all likelihood he'll be playing on Sunday. Ken is probably pleased to be padding Hartlett's games stats too.

That's unfair on Robbie. All it will do is remind him that Hamish has been there for almost all of the abject failure of the team over his career.
