Who the **** cares about our team, there's something that concerns me a lot more about our opposition this week.

The official words to the Gold Coast SUNS theme song are as follows:

🎶 "We are the SUNS of the Gold Coast sky, we are one in the red, gold and blue."

And yet, on the rare occasions that the team greets the judges and gets to sing the song post game, there is a discrepancy between the above lyrics and what is sung by the players, which is as follows:

🎶 We are the SUNS of the Gold Coast sky, we are the ones in the red, gold and blue."

For me, this is an extremely serious issue and needs to be rectified. Until it is, I can't see that club progressing to the promised land.

Out - Ken or wearing a beanie and saying how much he admires the oppo in the press conference..
Don't mind the beanie when it's promoting a cause that the whole league is behind.

I am sick and tired though of hearing how good the oppo is. Can't we just accept that 18 professional teams with big budgets will be good, at least some of the time, and concentrate on what we need to do to be better?

If not, then why do we even need a head coach?

Jeez there needs to be some statements made at selection because there were some un-Port-like scared pissweak efforts tonight. Not good enough.

This culture of allowing weak efforts has been evident through the continued selection of Marshall.

Out

Marshall - concussion protocol
Bonner - we've seen enough. I don't mind him, I don't believe he's a squib like some do, but he has zero physical presence. He's a hologram. And just on that tangent, how is it that a guy who has been on our list for what 6, 8, 10, 15 years (idk it seems like forever) is still built like a wet ribbon? Geelong aren't a great comparison because *cough*hardworkinthegym*cough* but physically we are behind Melbourne (and they have Burgess!), Richmond, Brisbane, even the Bulldogs who everyone thinks is some fancy dan run and gun team.
Woodcock - I think HG Wells wrote a book about his game last night. Looked nothing more than an honest sanfl trier (when he could be seen). Hardly went near it.
Farrell - assume he was injured from the spear tackle, but another one who melts in the heat of the kitchen and was basically unsighted. Nice goal but.

Byrne-Jones, you are seriously testing my patience.

In

Lycett - done his time for a tackle that had no visible efffect on the everyday performance of his victim
Garner - has done everything asked of him, beating forwards, filling in the midfield, even kicking goals. Has blue collar Port Adelaide toughness in his DNA
Hartlett - torn on this, hoping he plays well against the Eagles, but missed his toughness at the ball last night
Schofield - let's do something a bit different. Yes, he's another tiny teddy in a team with too many of them but he's our tiny teddy. He is superbly balanced, has great footy sense and can involve himself in a game. Could offer no less than three of the dropped players, and potentially more

I wish I could fit Hayes in, but with Lycett back and Ladhams staying in, it won't happen. Which is more a reflection of the almost criminal dereliction of his non-selection during Lycett's enforced absence.

I don't expect Fantasia to be ready yet.

Hartlett's big body would have been handy last night.

I hear they are saving Sam Hayes for a debut on his 35th birthday. Just making sure he is ready. Can’t be too careful.

i Agree no harm in putting Taj schofield in he has hunger and skill and shows more than what Farell does. he's clearly not up to it in big games OPEN YOUR EYES COACH- 5 touches zero tackles last night. against bulldogs he managed 8 touches. disgraceful numbers as a wingman against finals teams. i dont care if he can offer the odd dart on the left peg

I’d much rather hear about us.

Garner is an interesting one. I think his last Afl game was against GWS in that close loss at AO in 2019?
He looked slow to me. Don't know if he was carrying an injury? Thought his card was marked after that game . Deserves another chance.

Fantasia wont be right.

Its clear we lack speed, pressure and tacklers inside forward 50, so if McEntee can have a good game Saturday, I am getting him in. I didnt mind Jones forward either, so perhaps if Garner has a good game as well he goes back to half back and releases jones up the ground. Bonner cant continue to be selected. Lycett for Marshall seems easy.

I think therefore the following:

Lycett, McEntee and Garner IN
Marshall, Bonner and Woodcock

Sub can be Fredericks or Hartlett
