I'm not sure why anyone would suggest we replace forwards and midfielders with defenders. We already have far too many defenders in the team already.

Leinert deserves a go. I'd say Garner too based on his game against Westies. Not sure if he will be fit though.

Lord for Marshall - give him a taste
Schofield for Woodcock - ditto
Garner for Farrell - earned, can sit on Rankine

I wouldn't drop Farrell, this is the exact type of game he'll dominate.

All the more reason we should drop him. Players who can downhill ski over bottom teams but disappear against the top sides are the exact reason we're in our current mess.

I don't think Farrell has many runs on the board to be honest... Both him and Bonner should be out. Ya can't have that sort of game and expect to play in the A's again the next week.

If you drop a player everytime they have a bad game, or a couple of bad games, then you will endlessly be cycling through players without achieving anything. Players develop afl traits by playing AFL football.

If we had a Butters or Duursma ready to go, then yes of course you punt the Farrell and Bonner types to bring in quality. But at the moment we have no quality in the Sanfl that play the Farrell position.

Together I could count the amount of good games Ferrell and Bonner have had on one hand... As for who to replace them with.. I agree the cupboard is a bit bare ATM.

Too many defenders yet 3-4 oppo forwards are unmarked in our back 50. Definitely adds to our downhill skiing tag if we don’t run hard to get back and cut that out.

Farrell has played 29 games. Farrell has had atleast 3 memorable games.

Bonner has had none.

Bonner should never play again.

I get the Garner love but I think his biggest problem is just who he replaces.
He has to play back but his lack of speed limits his position. He cannot play the small defender role on say a Rankine so this then means he is looking at Jones or Burton’s spot and they are not going anywhere.

Farrell had a good game against Collingwood but has been quiet the last two. Since there isn't much pressure from the reserves he should get another go. He doesn't have that running capacity or presence to get back in defence. Will be the first out for Duursma.

Bonner needs 10kg and a huge dose of mongrel before he should ever be considered again.
