Will Oscar Allen get the second best defender?

I have got mixed emotions on Kennedy being out;

On one hand, its probably smart: our medical team aren't exactly world beating and our capacity to get his ankle right, were he to do more damage to it in an away game, is probably going to cost him a lot more weeks on the sidelines. So from a management perspective, intelligent.

On the other hand, a little part of me cant help but think that on some level, we have kind of conceded the game. Kennedy is a big target up forward and even if he is not 100%, he takes a good key defender. Our capacity to win that game, with him in the side, is greatly enhanced. If this was an elimination final for example, would he have played? I think he would

I don't want to put too much stock into it, but, this game is potentially season defining. Would rather see Josh in the side, even at 50%, then omitted

Yeah I feel your pain...it feels like the eagles are conceding the game ......if it was an elimination final he would be a certain starter.

Even with JK in most likely we lose this game anyway so team management is the way the club has gone.

Not sure why people seem to think (probably) replacing an aging and injured Kennedy with a smaller and quicker Jones is automatically throwing the game.
It's the smartest thing we have done at selection, both for the game at hand and our medium term goals in forever.

Baaed on last week, who would go to Jack, Oscar, Brander and Vardy? They have 4 that can play tall. I am hoping it is Henderson. Pity we are without our dynamic duo of Rioli and Ryan as they would then look very slow.

PS West Coast mids - not the week to be plonking up high and expect clean marking. More of what we did against the Pies and laces out on a lead please.

Think JK out is a sensible move and one that is embraced by most on this board.
So Im really looking forward to all the revisionists spitting the dummy and calling for the MC heads when we lose by a kick ala the Dogs game last year when we didnt want NN playing 5 games in 19 days. Should be a real treat.

The bit missing from the Kennedy discussion is the fact that our superstar veteran in evergreen form misses due to a dog act 100m off the ball. **** head should have got 4 weeks.

Certainly, it was a deliberate dog act, and 1 week for it was a joke.

Blicvas one of the only tall defenders that is a better endurance athlete than JD or Allen. Reckon he'll get the allen match up. Henderson will take Vardy out of the game. JD will cop Kolijazzknee. Don't think we'll easily dominate their defender but will get the wood over them.

We're already two talls up on our best team this year (the one that played Port). JK out for a small gets us much closer to that balance plus gives an aging player a much needed rest and saves a plane flight on a dodgy ankle.

Would be close to insanity to have picked him for this one. It's nowhere near "throwing the game". We're super well stocked in tall fwds and we need more run.

He probably would have got more than a week for it if we'd ruled Kennedy out before the MRO made a decision. Can't do these things retroactively, unfortunately.

H-dog in for Vardy is something I'd like to see tbh.

Surely no worse than Vardy's 2021 ruck output, can sit down back and help out with those big bastards geelong have.
I wouldn’t mind it either but Simmo did talk up Vardy’s ruckwork and mentioned that they don’t measure his game off stuff like disposals in his Ask Simmo segment.

This generation is growing up not knowing what a win at the Cattery feels like.

Having grown up in the 90s it was a bit of a happy hunting ground with wins there in 90, 92, 93, 98 and 99.

Hopefully we can break the hoodoo

What I didn't realise until I looked it up the other day is that from our first season in 1987 all the way through until 2008 there were only two years in which we didn't end up playing in Geelong (1991, 2004). In the 13 seasons since (including this year) we've only been there five times. Which is just...weird. I mean, I'm glad we're not going there every year any more, but it begs the questions (a) why the hell were we doing that in the first place (interestingly, in 12 of those 19 seasons they also played us here, so doubling up Eagles v cats was apparently just something the AFL liked to do) and (b) why the hell did it change?

Conspiracy theory: The AFL can't tell the difference between Geelong and Brisbane? 1987-2008 we played the Bears/North Fitzroy 16 times in Queensland, and 18 times in Perth - roughly equal. 2009 onwards that is now 13 times there (including this year), and just 4 times here. Apparently our "always goes there team" has been switched from Geelong to Brisbane for...reasons?

They Re trying to find different cays to eat the birds. Also early seasons they didn't want to ptsd the fans having them play the heartbreaking team that stomped all over the greated ff all time getting a flag, or some nonsense. The brissy switch is odd, although us and Sydney became 2 powerhouses as they were finishing the dynasty

Just the one change for tomorrow. JJ for JK.

Hopefully our head-bangers have good games otherwise you would have to wonder if either of them needed a spell.

Otherwise i don't see any reason to complain about the team put up.
