Yeah looks like he was swung back after he was injured. Didnt do a lot for half the season, l spose getting match fitness back. Got nice goals toward the end. But Lisle and Acorn was dominating the NEAFL, so l would hope that if he goes back into the ressies or starys in the seniors he starts showing a bit. Even if it is only a goal a game, really put defensive pressure in the forward pressure.

Assuming you mean in the forward line... He did that on the weekend, he was doing everything you want a forward to do when they don't have the ball.

Can't believe they don't work off any precedent the MRP is so subjective. Reading the Geelong board one guy was saying the challenge could be to grade it a strike rather than rough conduct. Really quiet puzzling looks like Mitchell took a dive wasn't really anything rough about it.

They don't work off precedent so they can make it up as they go along.

In the preseason game against the Suns, I remember Close grabbing a mark about 40m or so out and immediately signalled for a shot. That struck me as a really good sign. I like what McGuane adds to the team, but I'd be really pleased if Close got a few games (assuming they are substitutes).

oh lol, yeah. I thought he was really good defensively. I just wish he had a bit more of a presence in the foward line. Even if it is only a goal a game

Pretty sure he's still around 90 kg, most key forwards his size are over 95 kg. Most of his opponents this year are going to be stronger than him.

I would tell Close to just run and run all day. Draw his opponent way out of browns/crumbers space and would be looking for him to be a link so heaps of marks not real worried that he might not score many goals. Doesn't have the body strength to have 1v1 duels deep inside the forward 50. If he doesn't stick to this role then he gets subbed.
Was thinking Robbo for Taylor straight swap and rocky for mcguane as the forward just
Play Rich or Hanley as the extra Mid rotating off HB.
Geelong would be worried you'd think with brown now in the side.

What about O'brien? Or is he on the rookie list? Gutsy midfielder with great beep test an great hands. Might be. Great addition to the midfield.

I don't think it's possible because we have no one who is going to be injured for 8+ weeks.

Either Taylor comes into the starting 21 for Rocky, or he goes back to the Reserves to get a run. I can't see him being the sub two weeks in a row. He needs to get some game time.

Even before Rocky's suspension, I was thinking that Raines might be a possibility to shadow Selwood - he's done OK before.

So I'm thinking:

Out: Taylor, Rocky
In: Raines, Bewick

I'd bring Raines in for Rocky, drop Lewy back to the reserves with a clear indication that his taste last week was to show him the speed at the top level and now he can go back and tear it up in the NEAFL. I would then probably bring Robbo in, though I'm not sure how he would go as sub.

It sucks, and I'm sure the club steamed a bit about this, but they've made the smart choice. We just can't afford to potentially hobble ourselves for two games early in the season.

Anyway, no point dwelling on it now. I've chucked my tanty about it and now we move on.
