Sando really has performed poorly with his selections this year and it really is something he needs to address. The way he has handled Crouch and Lyons was inept to say the least. Lewis Johnson needed to come in this week. We need a KPF who can kick straight in the side as a priority. LJ is that and is in form. We dont pick him.
It is safe to say I have lost faith in Sando and I doubt he will be our next premiership coach.

Im with you i have lost faith in sando as well especially with his play it safe selections. His lack of reward for players playing well in the sanfl is weak and his rewarding of out of form players is a joke.

If S Thompson plays injured this week it will be a poor way for a great to celebrate his 200th. Would prefer him to be fit for his 200th.

It appears that the selectors haven't learnt their lesson yet re playing players carrying more than a minor injury.

I'ld prefer Thomo to rest the next 2 games and play his 200th game against Port thereafter.

People possibly overreacting about the non-selection of Johnston. They've made it pretty clear that he's not a part of future plans, given his continued non-selection in the face of very good SANFL form. I would have thought that one outstanding game would change their minds, especially given he didn't play forward that game. And this is my personal opinion, I could well be wrong, but I really don't think he's big or strong enough to play a KPF role, which is what I imagine the selectors think.

Callinan won't play, unless maybe Wright is a late omission or something. Hopefully Grigg and Kedge play, but it wouldn't be the end of the world if Kedge got another SANFL game to build his confidence post-injury. Luke Thompson is interesting. Does this mean that Otten will play forward the whole game this week? If that was the case I would have thought Hartigan was in line for a call-up over Thompson but meh, whatever.

While some people would react to Tambling getting a game as the worst thing in the entire world, I really don't think it would be that bad. He's been dominant for Sturt this year, and if he gets a chance to move into the midfield rotation he could conceivable make an impact. But still, he probably won't play. I think at the end of the day, we had to include 5 ins. The only youngish guy who isn't an in who is dominating the SANFL was Johnston, and its pretty clear what the selector's stance on him is. I'm not sure who else you want them to bring in in place of Callinan and Bling. Shaw? He's been pretty ordinary since coming back from injury, TBH.

Mcday touched on it. Those whingeing about callinan & Tambling into the 25, who in the sanfl deserves it ahead of them? Its not like there's 5 blokes missing ahead of them. Only LJ has some sort of claim.

Grigg is one of the ins.
Anyone see Brice Gibbs and Josh Jenkins child?

Is this the worst team on paper we've fielded for some considerable time?
When you add in the form of Jacobs, Thompson and Mackay it would have to go close.

How can Wright be in?

He was insipid against Collingwood, he must be the sub.

Wright was sooking it up big time last Friday night.

I agree. Cant believe Wright held his spot. Three times against west coast he didnt even bother to chase his opponent in which one resulted in the winning goal and yet sando still contines to pick him. Can you imagine Malthouse putting up with this. Sando has blind faith in too many players and has paid the price for it this year.

Regarding Johnston, yes he played a terrific game (on ball not as a forward), but he has missed over half a season. There is a massive jump physically from sanfl to afl as Stiffy said. He probably needs another game. I don't think the coaches would be against picking him, he just needs more footy and hopefully sustained form.

The other thing is the weather. Showers with possible thunder and hail for Saturday. Clearly not Lewis Johnston conditions. It's not the week to go taller. If it's Kerridge & Grigg for Jaensch & Danger I think it's spot on.

I'd like to have alook at Johnston at the next level but this isn't the week. I would also love to see Shaw and/or Hartigan get in the side. Also when Mckernen is back it gives us flexibility to drop Jenkins if his form is not up to it.

IMO the selections were spot on.

I still have high hopes for Wright. Yes he was pathetic against West Coast for 3 quarters then nearly won us the game in the last. Yes he was pathetic for 4 quarters against Collingwood. But he's just good, so I don't mind us picking him.

Hope he doesn't continue the worrying pattern we've developed of promising looking players not improving after multiple years on the list.

We have so few good players you can't afford him to yo yo into obscurity like all those others.

Who comes in for him? Who? Grigg and Kedge are in, and they are the only two who play similar positions and have played well enough in the SANFL to come in to the team. Would you rather Jaensch have stayed in?

You have to consider team balance as well. Obviously his form is down (apart from the 4 goals a couple of weeks ago). But we can't drop Wright and Jaensch and not bring in another small forward. I would have brought in Petenko if he played another good FULL game. But you can't drop 2 small forwards and not replace them. Grigg and Kerridge aren't small forwards. Like Lyons they can play forward but a different role to Wright/Petrenko.

Again I'm happy with the selections. Good balanced young side relevant to the conditions on Saturday.

Can you really see a club like the Bulldogs going "nah he's useless because the Crows didn't pick him". I could see that happening if you were the head recruiter, but otherwise I just can't see it.
Yes, I can.. given that Sydney didn't pick him either.. and Adelaide has chosen McKernan ahead of him..
