Goldy could certainly use a chop out, playing Currie could be the masterstroke we need to win this game.
Todd played less time on ground and got more of a chop out from Dish and Black. He just needs more of the same.

I think BJ might get the call up this week to replace spitta

BJ! Spitta Swallow!! Hahaha:D Ahem. God I'm purile, aren't I?

EDIT: Just realised you might be thinking I'm trolling injuries. I'm definitely not - just displaying my maturity by laughing at sexual innuendo stuff.

McMillan was excellent today. No way he drops.

I think Horse will eventually play to a standard which makes his current form look pedestrian by comparison and he will look back at his inept tackling attempts and be embarrassed. But, next week wont be that day.

He does good things, but he does bad things in equal measure. Melbourne do not punish you for those kinds of mistakes, Geelong is more likely to.

imo I think he needs to go back into the VFL and work on his deficiencies, his strengths are good, can get a lot better, but his weaknesses are momentum shifting shitacular level of ordinary.

I have faith in him, long-term. However, I wouldn't be opposed in giving another guy a crack and seeing how Jamie responds to some tough love.

Think I like McKenzie as the sub. Comes on and has a real impact with his kicking and reading of the play.

I'd bring in Greenwood for Swallow, but have a feeling Jacobs will get the nod. Purely because Scott wants to have another look at him this season at AFL level.

Geelong have plenty of ruck depth.

Blicavs, West, Vardy............

They will just replace Simpson with one of West or Blicavs.

I'd be playing Currie this week, especially if Blicavs plays. Whilst he's not an AA ruckman, he will grind Goldy into the ground in the second half of the game.

Im under the impression that Geelong will be putting Vardy in Pods place and bringing in both Blicavs and West. If this is the case then the one change for Swallow must also include a second for Currie. The Geelong rucks will be under certain instruction to run Goldi wide and deep into the backline. Jump into him everything that Voss and Malthouse planned well. And they will have a fresh combo in also.

If we dont play Currie I cant see us winning. Wake up Brad.

i like how people are suggesting j-mac should be dropped....very much so a downhill skier....his one of those players i cant see being in our best 22 next year....eaisly luke mcdonald takes his spot....

also for swallow, i'd like to see ben jacobs get a game, i reckon his ready to show everyone why the roos wanted him and why port did not want to lose him

for me these last few games for black and tarrant are so important, they need to show brad that they can ruck now and then, if they dont show they can hold up the ruck role for at least 25-30% of the game, brad will be forced to drop one next year in favour of Majak or Currie (if he stays with us).

Out: Swallow, Grima
In: Daw, Greenwood

FB: Hine - Thompson - C.Delaney
HB: Wells - Hansen - Mullet
C: Bastinac - Atley - McKenzie
HF: Harvey - Petrie - Ziebell
FF: Thomas - Tarrant - Black
R: Daw - Cunnington - Adams
I/C: Goldstein - MacMillan - Greenwood - Gibson

Em: Harper - Garner - Kennedy - Currie - Wright

Tarrant took 10 marks as chf. pretty good i reckon

Against limited opposition and couldnt convert to save himself, Daw deserves another chance. Lets mix it up, this is about next year not now.

Daw is simply not capable of playing the role Taz plays, which is not solely about direct scoreboard impact. Sure, he did not have his kicking boots on during Saturdays game, but his hit up marking, 9 inside 50's and 4 goal assists read pretty impressively for the position he plays. Granted it was against Melbourne.

Daw does not have the tank nor the smarts. He is either a stay in the F50 forward or a relief ruck at this stage. Maybe next year after another preseason of running up hills and practicing his game sense he might be given the chance.

Very narrow viewpoint, we need to see what he can do and he needs to learn the game at senior level. Nothing against Tarrant at all when I suggest we play Daw. I'm looking at next year not 2013.

North Melbourne do not tank. If we're going to drop Tazza for Daw we may as well drop Ziebell for Harper while we're at it

Daw's last two AFL games:
vs Adelaide - 0 kicks, 2 handballs, 0 marks, 1 tackle, 4 hitouts, 49% TOG
vs Duckers - 2 kicks, 2 handballs, 1 marks, 3 tackles, 1 goal, 3 hitouts, 50% TOG

Combine those two and you get 6 possessions, 1 mark and 1 goal from 99% TOG. Simply put, HE IS NOT READY!

Why??? That's a ridiculous statement. Should we also play everyone else on our list with less than 10 games so they can learn at senior level too? Surely that will fast track our pathway to success

Lol, I could cherry-pick games as well to highlight any one of our player's inadequacies, meaningless:rolleyes:

Getting senior games into our young blokes is ridiculous? Probably explains why we will miss finals again:rolleyes:

No, its informed.

What's the point of giving a guy a particular role at AFL level if he has neither the tank nor the game sense to play it? That's not development, thats just stupid.

OK I won't cherry pick. Here are his average's across ALL of his AFL games:
4.8 Kicks
2.3 Handballs
2.7 Marks
1.8 Tackles
1.5 Goals
4.7 Hit Outs
53% TOG

IS. NOT. READY.

6 goals vs Bulldogs, only equalled this year by LT.

LOL! I heard Eddie Sansbury kicked 5 on Adam Cooney once... we should get him back and drop that spud LT. PFFT, he can't even win the Coleman

Once again this thread continues to bring the LOL's in almost unprecedented amounts!!

Drop Tarrant, drop Grima, drop MacMillan, drop Goldstein, bring in Daw, bring in Harper.....etc.

Keep up the good work peoples, I always need a good old chuckle on a Monday morning.

Some differences from last time:

No Chapman or Pods this time around - they kicked 3 last time but have also really hurt us in the past - they do have Stevie J however.

I think we have a more settled backline now with Hansen back. Thommo will take Hawkins, Grima the second tall, then they don't really have anyone for Hansen to mind. Particularly if Delahney plays.

We don't have spitta obviously, but we do have Boomer.

All in all, it will be tough. But I think we can throw caution to the wind and really play without any pressure this Friday and I give us a good chance at an upset.

I would be interested to see the comparison between Daw and Tarrant on a like for like basis eg: How long on list, and stats for their equal number of AFL games from the start (their first 6), obviously Tazza has played more games but it might show what sort of improvement we might expect from Daw?

Below is the stats from the NMFC website for both players which don't break down on a game by game basis for each year, worth looking at though:

Robbie Tarrant (recruited 2007)
  • Career Average
    Games Played 33
    • Kicks 6.8
    • Handballs 3.7
    • Disposals 10.5
    • Marks 3.7
    • Hit-Outs 0.2
    • Tackles 1.7
    • Goals 1.1
    • Dream Team 50.9
Majak Daw (Recruited 2009)
  • 2013 Season Average
    Games Played 6
    • Kicks 4.8
    • Handballs 2.3
    • Disposals 7.2
    • Marks 2.7
    • Hit-Outs 4.7
    • Tackles 1.8
    • Goals 1.5
    • Dream Team 47.5

Bit hard because Tarrent's early games were as a backman. But he played 7 games in 2011 (after playing his first 2 in 2010) and his averages were:
Kicks - 7.4
Handballs - 3.4
Marks - 3
Tackles - 2.7

He was the same age in 2011 (22) as Maj is now.
