He was very underwhelming, yes, but played as substitute for a reason imo. His fitness wasn't up to scratch and he came off a pre-season where he put on significant size which takes the body some getting used to.
His apprenticeship in the 2's has been long and as a pure inside midfielder, he's adapted to the role well. I'll be happy if he replicates his tackling at VFL level and can run out a full game. I won't be too concerned if he doesn't get it a shitload on the outside and hurts with his disposal.
He needs to work and get his hands dirty.

So if that is the case then I look forward to seeing such a change in approach, and even if he makes mistakes but, as you say, if he gets his hands dirty and replicates the VFL tackling and so on you speak of then I will be very willing to give credit for that![]()
Thats a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge call. Umm no he aint![]()
Grima must be being rested.
What's the most goals he's conceded in a match this year? 3 once or twice?
Scott must think our number 2 backline can handle their depleted forward line. I hope delahney can keep whichever player he is on to under 3 goals. Pref less.
His last 5 weeks as an example have netted him 35 tackles.
7 a game are very good numbers. 9,5,7,8,6.
We need that defensive output at a minimum in Swallow's absence. That should be his key performance indicator. Tackling and pure ball winning.
I completely agree we need that defensive output, which is why I preferred Greenwood assuming he deserved it.
Greenwood might be the most overrated 'defensive' midfielder in the history of football.

Is tackling not defensive play? Last time I checked in his games in the AFL this year he is top 10 in the league for average tackles.

happy with the key defensive match ups
thompson-hawkins
car keys- vardy
cam delaney-blicavs/west
hansen loose man in defence
hine should tag stevie j
and macmillan sub
Isn't Jacobs averaging seven over his last five in the VFL?
I'm just saying Greenwood seems to have this reputation as a defensive midfielder - is it because he shut down Dal Santo in 2009? He is tough and physical but he's definitely not someone you would trust with a defensive role.
Keys will play on Hawkins I reckon with Thompson and Hansen dropping off to give support.
A lot of us were unhappy Spitta got a serious injury while trying to carry an injury through games.Grima must be being rested.

I'm quite happy to see Grima rested before niggle becomes a major injury.
