Nathan Vardy says hi.... Would possibly expect West, Blitz, Vardy, Hawkins all to be forward at some point. HT and Brown probably wont be seen forward as you have way too much height and talent to leave unattended.

And yes, Mids will be vital in this one...

Go Catters

Apologies mate, overlooked Vardy when thinking of your forward targets. Not sure how I forgot a good talent like that.

Luke Delaney to go with Hawkins step for step. Perfect matchup for Hawkins considering size and strength.

Thompson, Hansen and C.Delaney will be our avenues moving the ball out of the defensive half.

Don't really want the ball to be in Keys' hands against Geelong.

I have some reservations about the number of key defenders we are playing. Unless they plan to use Thompson on Bartel, who is too strong for mids and most flankers. If Thompson goes to Bartel that might be a smart move, he isn't exactly the quickest guy going around and he should kill him in the air.

I think car keys is suited for Hawkins while Hansen and Cam can switch between Vardy and the resting ruckman.

Saw a few weeks ago a thread saying they were trialing names on the back of jumpers for this round. Is that still going ahead? Haven't seen it mentioned anywhere.

Mitch Brown (omitted). Hmmm is that the same Mitch Brown who is apparently better than Hansen?

I didn't say he was better. Until this year when Hansen has finally done something there probably wasn't much in it, both fringe VFL/AFL players. Clearly Hansen is in front at the moment.

I'm not sure it will be a big issue Tas. Keys to Hawkins as others ^^ suggest, CDelaney to Vardy (bit worried about that actually) and Hansen to rest ruck or spare man. Thommo can play tall and small and may even be a dangerous rebounding defender if they don't make him accountable.

who will play on motlop and Varcoe? Possibly atley on one of them?
I'd say Hine will go to Motlop, Atley probably standing Varcoe, depending where he plays. Mullett to Stoakes.

Good luck for tonight guys.

I'm actually a little worried about your forward setup being a little too tall for our defenders if the ball comes in quick enough. Swallow being out will hurt you at the stoppages, but you still have some quality midfielders, and with Simpson out injured, Goldy can exploit us in the ruck and allow you first use of the ball to drive it in long and allow Petrie, Black and Tarrant to gain an advantage in the air. You must use it well going forward.

Didn't take much notice of the teams yesterday due to the cricket and a genuine lack of interest at the moment but the game is already lost at the selection table. Two delaney brothers what kind of idiocy is this.. once again backline is too slow and too tall. And hell not even podsiadly is playing so i can't see the reasoning for this.

I dont, I think we will be put to the sword:eek:.....Geelong by 45 pts

Hmm yeah it's possible.
Our defense is a bit of a worry as L.Delaney was prone to brainfades last year.
Mullett and Hine are good players but a bit inconsistent defensively.
Hansen & Thompson will need to play big games.

Taps are over rated. Your mids will be smart enough o work out where its going each time.

My concern is if they stick with Hawkins and Vardy and then run with Motlop, Varcoe, Stokes and Johnson up forward.

We have too many key defenders who do not play any other roles and it was the smaller forwards who exposed us against Carlton.

If that happens Keys will stick with Hawkins, Cam or Lachie to Vardy, Hunter will run with Stevie J, Hine to Motlop, Atley to Varcoe and Mullett to Stoakes. Geelong are premiership threats because they have damn fine players and they will certainly stretch us, but I reckon we have the versatility to provide at least decent matchups with whoever they run through there.

Not according to stats from the last 2 seasons. That was our downfall last season.

Yep, we have names to go on other names, but i am not confident the matchups will work in our favour. We struggle with multiple small/speedy/crafty forwards. Carlton pantsed us in that area, Brisbane didn't have a key forward have any real impact and still kicked 18 goals on us. Our smaller defenders aren't the most accountable of players.

We give them too much space, we allow them to get goal side, we often lose them in transition, it is my main concern for tonight.
