Yeh will be very interesting see which direction we go with both ins and outs. Much harder to predict when there's several options.

Makes you wonder how Newton feels having to wait 4 years or whatever it is and yet to get a game then players like Impey come in with one preseason and get picked straight up. I know they're different kind of players but I think Newton has done enough now and has the consistency in his game he never used to have to deserve a call up very soon.

If Newton was deserving of a debut, he would have gotten one last year. This year it's very tough to break in so he'll be very unlucky if he doesn't debut.

Nah. Spent his first year without an ankle. Then had to recover from said ankle the following year whilst languishing in the West Adelaide SANFL reserves.. so realistically hes only had about ~12months in the selection spotlight.

Change Impey for Sam Gray and i agree

Someone who has played for the maggies and gets rookie listed... gets elevated and plays straight away. You could understand if Newts felt a bit dirty about that.

Changed my thoughts after watching the Magpies game. Butch didn't do what he needed to get his spot back, so I think changes should be:

Out - Wingard (rest him just to make sure, It's going to be a tough match), Gray (good debut but I think we need a bigger body this game), Hombsch

In - Monfries (by all reports he is training 100% and we need another forward to replace Wingard(, Moore (played the house down and deserves a spot), Impey (give him a rest for a week or two, but he'll be back.

Sam Gray in or out?
He stuffed up a couple of times in WCE game but I like how he goes on the field.
Think Impey should be rested.
How is Neades form going in SANFL?

I dont agree with resting Wingard, if Hinkley thinks he is fit, leave him in we are going to need his genius goal kicking against Geelong because we may not get many good forward entries.

Moore did some real dumb things on Monday, including 2x25m penalties inside the defensive 50. Newton deserves the call up before Moorey unfortunately.

We exist to win Premierships and winning games in Rd 5 2014 isn't worth dropping Impey for one of the prime examples we drafted him.in particular. The same reason Monfries shouldn't be risked this week, however the reason Wingard will play.

I think Neade will get a call up in an aggressive selection, to run at Geelong and chase and tackle their freelance halfbacks. The Neade and Wingard combination will carve up these Pussy's and give us something over them for the next decade.

If Hombsh is 100% he gains a recall.

Newton comes in for me, no point playing Youngy as a Sub for the third week in a row.

Out: S.Gray - Match up only, Young - Sub back to back, O'Shea - Watched the game again and he was better than my first observation, however he loses his place to Hombsh
In: Neade - add pace and defensive pressure, Newton - 7 Months of good to real good Football, deserves his chance, Hombsh - Match ups
Sub: Broadbent/Pittard to be injected on a Wing and run them ragged!

We will get plenty of supply forward, Hartlet loves the big occasion of Anzac day, Ebert is a premium runner, Boak thrives against Geelong, Polec loves the Adelaide Oval, Newton will be a revelation, Gray is in a fine vein of form and Neadey will revel in his opportunity.

Neade started real slowly, over running the ball and looking to be running to all the wrong areas, seemed to fall behind Amon in the internal trial, rarely seen against Norwood, then found his mojo against Glenelg as did everyone else and finally against WWT his tackling was first rate and he seemed to be clean again!

I have never in my life supported an opposition team as strong as I am going to support the PAFC this weekend! I hope you bend over the handbagers and royally fist them where the sun doesn't shine. I actually have a huge amount of confidence you blokes will roll them this weekend, their record after playing us is very poor. Good luck gents, do us a favor and do to them what our mob couldn't ( in fact during the H&A we never do).

Sorry tige the only side we are doing any favours for is ourselves.

Oh no worries, I'll bump this come finals time now

I'll just be happy for you to beat them.

The bump is dead tige ;). Happy for you to show us some support but in a few weeks time your side will be our opposition and there will probably be Geelong supporters wanting us to do them favours and we will get no support from you then.

I am really looking forward to the upcoming games it will really give us an indication of where we are at as a team.

Broadbent as sub??? No way, the guy is in AA form playing of the HB line ATM. Always starting 21 unless form or injuries dictate otherwise.

Wingard given a rest??? You must be kidding. Burgess has already declared him fit to play. Sure he might be slightly down on last years form, but he is one of those players that can kick 3 goals in a quarter and win you the match.

Does Newton make his debut this week??? The answer is simple...if the match commitee think he has more to offer onfield then any of our mids or forwards from last weeks 22, then he plays. I didn't see the Maggies v Eagles game, but WOW, 14 clearances tells me he has earned a jumper this week ahead of S Gray.

Butcher??? No possessions for 2 entire quarters of footy against inferior competition. Suspect kicking is one thing, but that type of performance is unacceptable.

I totally agree re Wingard. Sure he made some basic errors throughout the match, but Kenny went to him at 3 quarter time and asked him to lift. He had 3 shots on goal in the last kicking a big one. Watch the replay of the Glass hit and he gets himself into the best position to take the mark against 3 west coast defenders. The kid can play, even on 1 leg and Wingard being the champion he is, I can't see him dishing up some of those basic skill errors he displayed on Saturday night 2 weeks in a row. If he's cleared by Burgess, he plays this week

I wouldn't be surprised to see Kane Mitchell selected (for say, Sam Gray) to be the super sub. If White isn't going to do it, he's probably the next best option - otherwise it would be three in a row for Youngy. He's in pretty fine SANFL form.

Keep White on the ground did you see him zip past the whole WCE team in the last quarter?

Uh yes. That is why my post implied that White wouldn't be sub.

I'm just saying that his speed and endurance is too good to be just used in 1 quarter.
(basing my opinion off every game he has played apart from the North game where he was 6m behind Boomer at all times)

I initially liked the idea of possibly promoting Mitchell for the extra pace after 3/4 time. However, checking the available spots to upgrade a rookie, if we did that and Lobbe was injured, who would take our lead ruck role? Sure, we could throw Westy or Trengove in there but that would be robbing Peter to pay Paul. We need a spot open to elevate Renouf in case anything happened to Lobes. I'm no Renouf fan but at least his elevation if required would enable us to maintain our structure.

I really wish Butcher could've had a competitive hitout against the Eagles. Twelve possies and two goals would've had me calling for his inclusion in a 'worth the gamble' kinda way.

the guys will be pumped for this one, not threat of them being over-awed or complacent. I remember Hinkley talking about the final we play against Geelong last year and he said the reason why they lost was because at half time he took a more defensive approach for the 2nd half when what he should have done was keep the attack up like they did in the first half. This is the game the boys and hinkley have been looking forward to, and what a way to declare our premiership credentials by giving the Cats a 10 goal flogging.

Im not saying we will win but i will say its gonna take a supreme effort by the Cats to get the chocolates this time. The difference i think between the two teams is that our boys have more of a hunger than the cats at the moment, we have more to prove than them at this point in time
