What a perfect preparation for the cats game. Had it circled when the schedule came out after last year's semi where i saw for the first time since 2007 a belief that we could beat them again. This time, we're in better form, playing better footy, at our new home ground. Last game of the round and the comp will be watching. Win this, and it will go a long, long way to giving us the belief that our best is good enough for anyone anywhere.

What is this 119 result? I don't think such a thing ever happened.
It was the day i broke my couch armrest with my fist, and slept in the shed for a week after :(

Heard last week Monfries resumes training today.

Can't see Newton or Moore getting a game vs Geelong. Not really a required weak spot vs Geelong given they don't use stoppages to provide their score. It would frustrate me to change the lineup with unforced changes when we won 2 in a row. Only unforced changes I would make would be structural (talls). Hombsch with a hammy is generally minimum 2 weeks so that leaves butcher and/or Clurey depending on form today. Only outs I would think about would be S.Gray.

Ken said in his interview that Hombsch's omission was purely precautionary and is right to go this week and Monfries 'could' be right for this Sunday. Hombsch will come in.

I'm overseas at the moment and coudn't watch the game, only highlights ect. I have very little time to my self to read every page to find out.

I saw the first page of this thread and saw Wingrad (inj)... Is this because of the hit he copped? or the injury he had 2 weeks ago or something else?

Thanks

Was in hospital for a check up and is apparently 100%

We've seen what happens with hamstrings even when given the all clear re Chris Judd.

I'd be happy to give him another week, for precautions sake. With the clubs no risk policy thus far, I reckon they'll go this way too.

Really think Benny Newton (providing he plays well today) should be given a game over Monfries who won't be 100% come Sunday.

But that's if we are going to make a change.

A difference from last year is that we've dropped significantly when it comes to clearances. We finished last year 6th in the league and for 2014 are currently bottom 5 in total clearance numbers.

Not sure why that is happening but hopefully Moore makes a strong statement soon.
Good point about clearances - there is definitely has been a change in our structure around stoppages. The clearances that we are getting are very clean

I think they will give him another week. Judd's injury prior to their game was an Achilles not a hamstring.

Depending on the Maggies tomorrow, but if Butch kicks another bag, would he be back in the side? ...
Depend on the context. Difficulty in gaining possession, difficulty in converting, handling of pressure shots.

Clearances are just about the most overrated statistic in the game. It helps if you win them sure, but given the rolling maul style stoppages we're seeing these days there's more importance in run, spread and accuracy from that stoppage and the next kick further afield (intercept score launches).

Fun fact: In a certain game we lost by 119 points, we won the clearances 34-30.

A lot depends on the quality of the clearance. Against Norf we let them just walk it out of there and it cost us. There have been a couple of times this year where we just couldn't get our hands on it for extended periods to halt momentum. Agree that rebounds are our primary scoring mechanism though.

I would back in our fitness staff to make the right choices, if Chad has to miss then Gray will stay.

I still would like Moore in eventually , gives us more options.

You are right I guess....I mean clearances might not mean much but its no reason to drop off that much....

Whats more worring to me is our i50's into scoring conversion

I hope that Hawthorn get up today, so we've got the chance of giving them 2 losses in a row.
