Out: Young, O'Shea, S. Gray

Stewart instead of Monfries if Monfries isn't fit. Wanted Butch in, but it seems he didn't fire a shot today.

I'm liking the discussion but I'll wait until the Maggies play tomorrow to see who's played well, who's injured and then who trains on Tuesday before finalising my ins/outs for the Cats. Taking my lads down to training on Tues arvo for a BBQ & autographs - they're already pumped.

from the Port (Magpies) v Eagles game

Newton had 33 disposals
Moore had 28 disposals

maybe we can bring in both for S. Gray & Impey

Moore in for S Gray, no other changes needed unless there are injuries.

Conservative approach for Hombsch, and in particular Monfries who we need 100% fit.

Newton to debut the week after agree long game.

Unless Hombsch and Monfries are 100% fit ( unlikely in my opinion ), I hope the club errs on the side of caution, as they are too valuable long term to risk, even in a big game against geebung.

agreed ..

if Hombsch is going to be rested and we need a tall defender then bring in Clurey who has the form ...

Back from the Port v Eagles game and based on what I saw wouldn't make any changes.

Sure a few players racked up a heap of stats but that was due to the Eagles coach basically playing everyone behind the ball even when kicking with a 4-5 goal breeze. It was easy for the mids to run around outside the forward 50 and rack up stats. Newton did some good work in close and Mitchell was busy but geez, it's embarrassing watching us tear apart ill-equipped sanfl sides. And the Eagles were unbeaten and playing on their home deck.

The only change I would consider based on the sanfl game is to bring in Neade. He was electric in the forward lines where there were regularly 30+ players congregated. He had 3 goals by the second quarter and had handed out another one or two. Then Buddha took him off for half the quarter, our minds wandered and we drifted in the game a bit. By the last Neadey was providing some electrifying burst runs. His chasing and tackling was exemplary too.

Butch had a shocker,

Id love to see Newton given a run

a good run to see if he's capable

but man Geelong looks intimidating

I would like to see him play ... as well as Moore ... having 2 extra mid fielders against the cats would be a huge plus (especially seeing how we will have 2 extra days on them) after their hard game against the Hawks

Geelong today playing a lot of talls. Hombsch should be a certain starter - O'Shea could be our sub.
Out - Impey and wingard injured.
In Hombsch and Moore

Can't question you're reasoning FF but I would like to swap Young for Scooter as the sub. I'm probably harsh on Aaron but I think Newton on the inside and outside in the last quarter could be a good move for the PAFC against the cats.

Newton is banging the door down for a spot in the seniors. I think his time has come and he should be playing this weekend. It's what we need atm in the middle to improve our clearances. We also need a bigger body in the forward line so with Butch misfiring, Stewart should be playing his first game this year.
Impey and S.Gray for a spell in the seconds.

It's a tough call to make any change to a side that won like ours did in the west. Young probably deserves a full game more than he does dropping.

Newton is banging hard on the door but that's the great thing about depth and a team's good form, you have to really earn your spot.

Poor Sam Gray has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in a week, but if Hombsch comes back who goes out?
