Agree. Guilty of being a Jasper fan.
He played well last week. I seriously believe he is only going to get better. He showed glimpses lat year against St Kilda with that pace out of defence.
Agree, not a huge fan but Jasper is on the up... really impressed with his last two games.

Too bad that Monfries did not come up for this one but one phrase I do not like to hear with hamstrings is 'earlier than expected return'. Play it safe. Hope that Hombsch is going to be able to be included. He will add that extra to the backline that we would need. Pittard and Broadbent are good rebounders and spoilers but are not one-on-one backmen and we will require a few of that type against Geelong. I would expect Cornes to go to Selwood as I can't see him keeping up with Stevie J. Maybe we should bring Granger out of retirement for him.

Yea I dunno, think there is some serious overrating of Pittards work this year, same as Butch. Wouldn't drop him tho.

One thing he definitely has improved is his tackling technique. I haven't had to close my eyes and hope he wont be pinged for too high/in the back/whatever else the umpires usually pull from nowhere.

O'Shea out for Hombsch, Gray out for Newts & chuck youngie up forward.

Hopefully we'll see P. Stew & Moorey in soon :)

I agree he was killing it, I think they deserve that spot as much as each other but doesn't hurt to send him back to the Magpies so he doesn't lose his form. Obviously doesn't get the pill as much as he does in the SANFL, so go back there get some footy while bringing in a red hot Newton for debut. Rotating that one position between Young, Newton,Moore, etc will give more players a chance to show they're worth at AFL.
Thats crazy. The guy was already the best player in the SANFL. We won in W.A, deserves to stay in the side. No, he shouldn't go back to the SANFL. What so we can play someone new and untried?

people are getting VERY excited by the idea of players coming in and out of the side... I personally hope there are as few changes as possible, maybe only to a taller backline.. keep players like Young, Impey and Pittard playing AFL as that's why we have them.. they wont get better with a "run in the twos" really, they'll get better at this level where they're already learning

Hombsch will be the only change. My guess is it will be at the expense of S Gray. Neade and Newton are on the extended bench but both are named in the magpies 22. The competition for spots atm is very very healthy.

Agree - It's been so long since we have been in a position where there have been 5 to 6 players deserving a game. Its hard to get used to. Still think Logan is damn unlucky.

After feeling like I spent a chunk of this week defending Impey I'm glad he held his spot. :D

Seriously though, after some early mistakes, some of his work in the second half of the West Coast game was very good. He reads the play well and gets into good positions to give us run. His pressure acts are underrated too - he has the McLeod ability to read the movement of the opposition play and attacks the receiver to pressure disposal. He's still young so still has physical development to come but I love the way he tackles chest on to make sure no one is getting past him. That is important against teams like Geelong that will back themselves to break tackles.
