I think the plan this year was for Daw to be the chop out, but that got severely forked when he did his meniscus and blew his pre season. Tarrant going down again compounded the rucking issues. Goldy was always going to get back up this year. Oh, and Hale was done at North and admitted as much himself and needed a change of scenery. H couldn't get on the park (for multiple years) and was sucking up major $ which were needed elsewhere.

I'm kind over it too tbh. Daw has too few letters in his surname. Drew Petrie has a shortened first name. Goldstein has too big a lung capacity. And Tarrant is my captain in supercoach and is really costing me. Why won't Brad clear the forward 100 and put Cam P as a combo FF/CHF with Wood crumbing off him? We're being fed a whole lotta angina.

And bring in who?

Currie?

Haha

#EDIT He's played 3 games and come in underdone. If he hasn't shown enough improvement we sure as shit ain't gonna see it moving him ito and out of the side.

He looked much more comfortable with leading with drew on the weekend that is for sure.

I'll take that as a no then. Why are we cutting him slack because he is allegedly 'underdone'. If you take the field, you are deemed fit and should be judged by the same standards as everyone else. You don't get special consideration for not picking up a football til late in life and being underdone. If they are issues, sort them out in the vfl. It was ok to play him last week given the game was effectively vfl standard. This week we can't carry him. I only harp on about it because I think he will be the difference between us losing and winning.

I am not convinced you actually watch games.

I see you still didn't actually answer the question.

I did. I effectively said it was unnecessary to have such a role.

Well this going around is in circles has been fun but....

Maj won't be dropped.

You can type till your fingers are stubs. its not going to happen.

Mate, everyone is open to criticism, but surely you'd agree that pre-empting Maj's failuire is jumping the gun a tad? Especially when he demonstrated improvement at the top level, RE: timing for marks? And that improvement was from one match to the next?

Maj's upside is one of the things to cheer oneself up after dealing with our roll-coaster season so far.
Yeah. I agree its jumping the gun a tad. I agree he played a better game last week. But the opposition was woeful. And i'm sick of the roller-coaster ride. And I think he will lose it for us on Friday.

I know he won't be. And I sincerely hope that he plays a blinder and you can hang sh*t all over me. I won't care one bit if we win.

Was just trying to change topic.

As I don't want this board to denigrate into a hypothetical board.

Hypotheticals can be used against you in the future though.

I thought that was the point of posting

to put it nicely, lacks some decision making and brain power. He gets way too much leeway on here. Excuses galore.

It's getting lazy and overplayed.

List me all the young key forwards in the league and please remove those that were drafted with a top 5 pick or accessed via priorities and concessions.

Then remove the ones who have any flaws in their game - such as imperfect decision making, poor physicality or finishing and we'll see how long the list is.

I always thought the point of posting/being here was so we didn't have to talk footy with the morons at work..

I prefer to "speak" to my people.

As for this HH, big men take time. Thankfully Majak is already an asset, with the only liability being the player he will replace in the not too distant future.

Majak struggles with the basics that no other player in the AFL does. Name a player in the AFL that doesn't know how to snap, that gets pushed out of every marking contest when he's in front...? Wood playing his first game is more valuable to the side than Majak IMO.

no he is and they are both different players why are people comparing the 2? Majak plays majority forward as Key position and ruck, Wood plays a similar role to Black. Opposition players would fear Daw (bc what he is capable of, taking pack marks) then Petrie. We look more dangerous in the side with Daw in and as we saw against the lions (Merett) if he positions himself right Daw can be unstoppable.

Ridiculously generalised statement. Let's compare him to some of his peers.

Can Shaun McKernan take off from HB and kick long goals?

Can Ben Griffiths chase down and tackle an opponent with the speed and ferocity of an inside mid?

How's his vertical leap compared to Jordan Lisle?

Who's a better set shot from outside 50, Majak or John "#8 2009 draft" Butcher?

He's being held up to some strange arbitrary standards.

Why are we comparing him to these spuds? Does it make him a better player or us a good team to say "Wow, you are better than Shaun McKernan and John Butcher". Shoot for the starts people. I know big men take time. Take as much time as you want. Sign him to a Franklin-esque contract for all I care. Just don't put him in the seniors til he is absolutely destroying the seconds taking 15 marks and kicking 8 on a regular basis. Thats what he should be doing in the seconds with a frame like that.
