Main reason I'd bring in Thomas is that unlike some he'll put his head over the ball and won't shirk a contest. Hunt was deplorable last night and there was some talk on the coverage that he wasn't 100% after 1/4 time. Morris won't get dropped being in the leadership group unfortunately.

Agree Hunt had a bad game but every player can have those sort of games(And yes was carrying an injury for most of the match).Can we afford to have 2 plodders in the side(Thomas & Arnott).If Dimma has to make a statement to save both himself and the season then Morris needs to be dropped.

This isn't a side for the now, this is a side for the future. A number of best 22 players are sidelined by injury so take the chance to play a few kids give them a chance to show what they are capable of and you never know what may happen.

Its a bit of a copout from the coach to blame our attack on the ball (even though it wasnt good enough in the second half). We won more than enough of the footy in the first half and kicked 5 goals. If one of the better teams won that much of the ball in the first half they would have comfortable kicked 12 and put the game away. We simply aren't good enough and don't have enough classy players to punish the opposition. Then when they get on top we crumble.

Im sure our depth will be questioned again, but as allready been pointed out in this thread its our best players who simply arent good enough. How many times does Cotch win a clearance and the ball get marked by an opposition player. There was a really obvious one in the game against the dogs that cost us when we had momentum. Cotch, Martin, Lids and Jack simply do not stand out in enough games, especially the big ones, none are good enough to get close to the AA team, when 4 or 5 years ago it was meant to be these guys that took us to the top 4.

I like this. This attack on the ball is a red herring. It didn't matter how much of the ball we had. First half we were smashing them but our lack of confidence, skill and daring when we have it plus their game plan against our basic crap one means by the end of the game we are washed up. Double the free kicks at half time it still didn't matter.

You are not going to win many games when you have long termers all out at once or coming back via the vfl after being out for long term and then when you add on the 1-2 game injuries it just plain wrecks teams.

Put is simply, we ran out with 1494 games experience last night, only possibly st k, bris and gc will run out with less this round.

Injuries kill you, it just seems to get overlooked when it comes to Richmond

No way do i want that Hack Thomas in he is not what we need right now... he is another hack in the side...1/3 of our team last night was hacks we dont need to add to that....Never put him in side again...

Vickery will get his chance at redemption next week. If Chaplin and Newman aren't ready perhaps Elton gets a go? Starting to dip into unknown quantities now. Having too many new faces too soon throws out the rhythm of the best 22 playing group.

Well, Morris has been put in the leadership group, God only knows why.
He is possibly the worst player in the AFL and I'm serious when I say that.
Was good as a lock down defender in 2013, but will never get back to that sort of form.
Gordon and Lloyd have hit their ceiling. Both are 25 and will not get any better.
Arnot at least has a crack, good on him. But his skills and decision making are so poor. Kicked a nice goal, but thats about it.
He is just a younger version of Matt Thomas, once again, a battler who Dimma seems to love.
McDonough is the most overrated player on this board, without a doubt.
I have watched the kid a few times at VFL level and in my opinion he has not stood out at all, I really don't see the fascination we have with this kid.
He is way too skinny to play the game. AFL is about big bodies these days, which we do not have at all.
All our players need to put on at least 3kg of muscle in the gym.
Even our captain looks so skinny that it looks like he has been smoking a crack pipe and hasn't eaten in about 5 days.
I've had enough of this absolute rubbish.
The culture down at Richmond has been around for 30 years and it stinks of mediocrity.
Enough is enough, major changes are required.

Yep totally agree its Hardwick who persists in playn hacks for some reason...cause they " have a go" ...i want players with skills and smarts not players who just "have a go"...thats means i mite be a chance to play nxt weekend to pull on the tiger jumper ... id put morris to shame ..unfortunately im not skilled enought to play afl but id certainly "hav a go"..this is the reason u usualy get a game but at richmond as long as u are a "goer" skills dont matter..

Man exactly my thoughts....at the end of last year we had sorted out the team and structure of the team well ..and won alot of games for this very reason...this year we have changed it around and filled our side with hacks... go figure...

If they have to/want to try players in odd positions then do it in the VFL.

Dimma is making mistakes and learning as he goes. We cannot afford that and after 5 years with the group should know inside out what each players capabilities are.

To think we had Hinkley on the coaches short list. They clearly picked the wrong guy.

Our ability to play our run and carry style of footy relies on us winning the contested footy and being able to feed the ball out to the runners, unfortunately at the moment we have too many who pick and choose when they will go and when they won't. Guys like Arnot and Thomas while considered hacks will not die wondering when it comes to giving a contest. Sure there were some times last night where Arnot got caught out but there were other times where he straight lined the footy/contest and came away with the ball or at worse broke even. Thomas is much the same, not the quickest most skilled bloke in the side but again he'll be one at the bottom of the packs fighting and scrapping for the ball. IMO that was what was lacking last night as we were relying on smaller types like Edwards and Miles to win the contest and then feed it out, they should be the second link in the chain where they can break away from the contest and open up the play.
