Deluca was OK for the first quarter , disappeared for the rest of the game. Mora ok in bursts but also not sighted for long periods. De Boer average,Yarran no impact. Hughes on limited game time and Clarke the best of the Freo players despite a knock to the knee .
Mora needs to show what he has got with better players around him. There was a play yesterday where Mora broke away from the pack ,weaved through the congestion into open space and hand passed perfectly to a Peel youngster who ran passed calling for it who then promptly fumbled ,lost the ball and a certain goal went begging. It must be really difficult for a small number of Freo boys in amongst a majority of Peel boys that just are not up to even WAFL standards. It was hard to judge any of them yesterday with the conditions and sub standard team mates.

Suban looked like one of our best with 8 disposals, god help us.

Deluca and Hughes are the only ones that showed anything at Peel level, the former at least deserves a shot at the big time, so:

In: Barlow, Deluca, Hughes
Out: Sutcliffe, Tucker, Weller

Love Weller but he's played every game and needs a break. Not sure with the Langdon drop suggestions - he showed a bit more than many. Tucker's been non-existant unfortunately which is to be expected for a first year player at times.

I think I've made it clear how I feel about Sutcliffe, the poor kicks out of 50, complete lack of awareness around the ball and general disposal is worth at least 3-4 goals to the opposition each week, although Sheridan's not much better.

Weller is cream. When we don't have the cake he is going to go missing. That said he should do a week or 2 in the WAFL. If nothing else it serves him a reminder about what is required at AFL level.

Tucker has shown glimpses but when he has a chance he has fluffed it a few times. The missed handball when running through the midfield is simply inexcusable. Could also do with a week or 2 in WAFL.

Langdon was non existant for the first half, but responded in the second half and deserves to hold his place.

I wouldn't be against holding all youngsters as that's the direction we need to head, but certainly Weller is on the block after RTB comments pre-game.

I think Ibbo may be an out next week. Not on form, because he was quite serviceable yesterday. But his face got really messed up. Surely that nose is going to need some surgical straightening.

Reminded me of Faulks. You can argue Petracca was unrealistic but Ibbo had the awareness of a deer in headlights.

Thought he did ok without being good. Wouldn't drop on that performance.

That's a really good analogy for Weller because he seems to have no support at all in the forward line. And cake is delicious

Agree with most assessment here . Weller kind of need some rest or WAFL game. Dont mind deboer coming in also with our season long gone but no clarke please, let him play few consercutive game with peel.

With the way freo play dont see any harm yarren, mora ,deluca all come in to refresh the squad.

Must've been some first quarter.

He had 26 disposals

Yeh, said in the Peel thread I was surprised by his stats. I was with Harry and Danny and we all made the same comment re Deluca. Looking at the scoreline after the 1st the whole Peel line up disappeared. I'm expecting some heat on this but Clarke was dominant in the ruck and the mids had an armchair ride. They should have dominated but they didn't.

Very hard to judge anyone on yesterday's first half. We were obliterated.
I don't think Deluca would've done any better, but deserves a crack.
I dream of someone walking in and doing a Barlow or Haselby (Blakely doing this) but if they can't do it at WAFL then I'm dreaming.
I'd love Yarran to walk in and kick 3 and show something. Chances would be highly unlikely.

I agree with you regarding clarke , but putting him back with freo will create more problem .
He will walk out on freo regardless of his form with no compensation.

Maybe Clarke simply can't travel. I'm not talking about is just bad away from home. I'm talking literally his knee can't take it.
My left ankle blows out like a balloon when I travel, due to previous injury.
I'm providing excuses but not all that far fetched.

Just cant afford to see him become a passenger vs cats everybody will definitely melt on him here if he play badly.

Fairly certain he won't be alone.

Fact is Griffin was obliterated and hasn't copped anywhere near the same levels of abuse had Clarke turned in the exact same performance.

I think we need 2 rucks and Hannath ain't the 2nd choice.

Clarke caught a big slide in knock to his knee and ankle and hobbled of and stayed of for a long break. We thought that his day was over .He fought through it which is something he usually doesn't do. Surprised us that he re appeared.

By the way do you had any free agent ruck/forward in mind for next season. Cant see griff /clarke as the solution. As sandi i cant see him play beyond 2017 if he is not properly managed.

I wouldn't draft a ruck unless English fell to pick 39. Maybe with our 4th rounder pick up Goddard, Ladhams or Strnadica. Basically I wouldn't chase a young ruck.

I was an advocate for getting Witts. He's 23 and 209cm. So could compete. Still remember he was awesome against Sandi last year or year before and has just fallen behind Grundy, which is fair enough as Grundy is very good.

Doubt Witts would come here. Truth is we'll need to go very hard at someone for 2018. Haven't checked who'd be available but there's always rucks available at seasons end. We'd just need to prioritise if it's worth paying through the nose.

I wouldn't be against chasing Nicols this year on big dollars but would be hard to land him and McCarthy and still go to the draft.

Nicols could play 2nd ruck behind Sandi. Griffin as back up and Clarke and Hannath off the list.

Nicols is good enough to take sole ruck position from 2018 onwards. Apeness plays forward ruck and we'd still need a spare as Griffin would likely be done by then too.

If Weller or Tucker aren't dropped this week, then as bad as it sounds, I hope one of them is next week (if they perform poorly) to give Yarran a go. Just play blokes like Yarran/Deluca and Mora to see what they offer. Instead of publicly saying it's time for Mora to get moving, after 2-3 WAFL games, just play him ffs, season is done and give him a go.

D Pearce needs to be dropped. He was deplorable on Saturday. I don't care if he leads the team in metres gained, his disposal was woeful.

Yarran seems to me like the kind of player who is going to do his best work on the big stage rather than WAFL.
I'd give him a run.

That's the thing isn't it, some people make better use of their AFL opportunities. I can definitely see it with Yarran. I hope to see him play within the next month. I think he's capable of keeping his spot.
