Changes vs Geelong

The White selection against GWS was a Ken masterclass decision alas Redden selection against Sydney in 2015.

I'll never understand why we have this penchant for going horses for courses with smalls and injecting 'speed' when we feel we need it.
Yet we'll never go horses for courses with talls.

It's a clear and detrimental selection bias.

Should be the quickest team selection meeting for the year - no change The only consideration that may take time will be deciding who will be the travelling emergencies. I would say that we take two.

Apparently the cats will be celebrating the 07 flag before the game.

If this doesn't get our boys up and about, I don't know what will.
Boak aside, is there anyone else on your current list who was playing that day? I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Also, do you guys expect that Danger and/or Selwood will cop a hard tag? If so, who have you guys used as a run-with player post-Cornes?

This game should be a cracker. I watched you guys play Gold Coast and you were very impressive, so I'm expecting your mob to push us all the way.

I think Westhoff played in 2007 as well.

Should be a good game. Hopefully Port can play 4 quarters. However, I'm not sold on Thursday night games, I have to head to work the next day.

This isn't about who was playing on that day in '07.

This is more about the perception of rubbing our noses in probably the darkest day in our club's 147 year history.

I'm not fussed by what they are doing. We did celebrate our 10 year against Brisbane in 2014.
Yep.
Regardless of the margin (ugh) they won the flag that year. If we won I'm sure we would be doing the same.

Initially I thought it was a bit cheeky, but having since heard that it's not uncommon to do this sort of thing when playing against the team you beat, then I guess it's just an accepted norm.

Having said that, though, I know I'd hate it if the Hawks do the same thing to us next year.

I'm sure that Boak and Westhoff will be hating it, but as for the rest of the group - I really can't see how any of the celebrations will provide motivation to the players, above and beyond what is already expected from them.

Players wouldn't even think about this stuff when they're out on the field, much less dwell on it so as to be distracted by it.

In before Geelong raise a giant blue and white flag pre game with a big "119" on it.
I've got a couple of mates who are Geelong supporters and neither of them ever bring up the actual margin. Unfortunately I can't say the same about supporters of another club that had no involvement it that game.

It's been that other club's greatest moment in their pathetic last 20 years. Built on hate and jealousy. #shitclubnohistory

The ol' vicarious premiers.

Since the last time we played them:

IN: Clurey, AhChee, Impey, Ryder, SPP, Polec
OUT: O'Shea, Young, Neade, Lobbe, Stewart, Toumpas

Not a huge difference, but a few big IN's in Ryder, Polec & SPP.
Clurey>>O'Shea
Ah Chee<Young (on young form last year)
Impey>>>neade
Ryder>>>>>>>>>>Lobbe
SPP>>>>Stewart
Polec>>>>>>>>>Toumpas

We are a fair bit better I'd say

Wow, were we tanking?

Is this the game where Lobbe almost set an AFL record for hitouts except for the fact that almost all of them went directly to Geelong players?

I am fairly certain that was our second game against them in 2013. We were down by 70-odd points at one stage, but pulled the margin back to under five goals. I remember the Geelong crowd booing their players off despite the win.
