Changes vs Geelong

Robbie won't be rested I guess we have the bye at least, Sam Gray needs to go back to the SANFL and tidy up a few things hopefully we get Ah Chee into the midfield rotation.

Not sure on changes yet but I'd to see Eddy get another crack

Hartlett looks sad down back. Looks uninterested & offers nothing. I'd like Bonner or Houston to replace him.

This will probably come back to bite me but I don't think height in our defence is the issue some make it out to be. Yes Walker, Franklin and Patton got hold of Clurey so far this year. But putting aside these are three genuine AFL goal scoring threats who can get hold of anyone - I mean Buddy, come on. But even so Clurey was done more on the lead than in the air by Buddy and Walker while Patton was more strength than height. Time has been wasted on trying to turn Clurey into some aerobic mid but now that he is concentrated on defence Port can continue to build his size and core strength so he can go mano a mano with tall forwards.

I would have thought TJ's dismantling of Lynch and containment of Kennedy has shown that Bassett's team-first defence and Port's defensive across the ground play is more reliant on smart strong defending than height. TJ can take Hawkins, there's no need to rush in Howard or Austin for that job. They will get their chance soon enough. If Taylor is still playing forward, Clurey has the athleticism to go with him and judging by his job on Darling can match his strength. Or if that's Hombsch's job he can take a resting ruck.

Sam Gray was pretty good against Gold Coast but again against a team we dominated. Still Ken likes to show faith. Robbie Gray seemed to move more freely than he has in recent weeks and could easily have finished with 4 goals against a very good defender. I guess it's up to those closest to him to decide how to manage him.

Nicks as senior assistant made the point during the week that the three line coaches actually all work together on across the ground strategies and that their labelling as midfield, defence etc coaches is largely nominal. So Bassett's influence in containing opposition scoring opportunities across the ground by pressuring clean delivery in the forward 50 is probably showing in this approach.

I think the biggest whinge about Patton was we didn't even replace Hombsch for that game, and Jacko had to ruck.
If we had the same structure we had on the weekend I don't think many would have been quite as angry afterward.

Apparently the cats will be celebrating the 07 flag before the game.

If this doesn't get our boys up and about, I don't know what will.

Apparently a large contingent of Adelaide fans will be travelling to the game to join the celebrations of their proxy premiership.

Lol the hive mind developing amongst a segment of this board on this matter has no actual logic to it.

He's not drop worth and will never be dropped, his kicking could be better

It's hard to drop anyone after such a dominant and even performance. However, I still feel we'd be better off with a leading, tall forward who can stay deep when Dixon pushes up the ground (which he is doing extremely well at the moment!). There were numerous times yesterday where Dixon had pushed up to the wing and we'd have clean ball going forward but the deep option was Gray vs May and we butchered the opportunity.

S Gray is also playing decent footy apart from his finishing. But unfortunately I think finishing is a bloody important part of his role. He has kicked 6.9 for the season and never more than 1 goal in a game. In the role he is playing he really needs to be averaging 1.5 goals a game for mine.

Hartlett didn't have much to do yesterday but I think he really needs to perform better or else he could be the one to make way for Houston who should be raring to go after a two week break!

Geelong could make a killing selling 1 game memberships specially packaged to Crows supporters for this.

Don't think our issue is defence tbqh.
Yep the mix up forward still isn't quite right, which is why against the better teams we can't not include a fit & firing Angus Monfries who can not only shut down a star play making half back like a Yeo who cut us up he'll take his chances at goal.

An extra tall is always an option but with Hoff, Ryder & Trengove all rotating through & Dixon in amazing form it's not quite a priority unless Howard or Eddy are absolutely smashing the door down, the latter is a SANFL beast but he needs to take his chances given at AFL level.

At the moment we're getting plenty of goals through our mids and even a couple from our half backs but there's still plenty of work to do with our efficiency inside forward 50 as it's costing us close games against the better sides.

Hammer needs to readjust his role as he's totally superfluous to requirements & wasted down back, get him around the half forward line so he can lace out a few targets and have a few long pings at goal.

Sometimes I wonder if Tommy lied about his height to the authorities, he plays as if he's 210 cm tall. Made Lynch look as soft and pathetic as Jerkins in the last couple rounds.

More to a captain than disposal efficiency. A LOT MORE.

Which is why I said we shouldn't drop him, seems a lot of people missed that part.
