I believe in this club and the TEAM ... We are Port, and we can win anything. We have the players, the skills, and the leaders. Just need them execute on-field.

Chucking wobblies over Young in instead of Monfries is just embarrassing.

Have you been asleep since 04 mate. Its properly the wrong thread to say the other stuff but lets be real . Our ability to stand up in big games against top 6 oppo has been embarrassing . Maybe if we didn't get 100 inside 50's a game and yet still lose beause of our lack of forward structure and abilty to execute under the heat consistently, my thoughts would be different but apart from a great few weeks in 14 ken has proved nothing

Young is way down the pecking order for a call up. Top sides don't carry or reward under performers.

Would want a better effort than his 15 disposals and 1 point against West Coast, the side who waltzed out of our forward 50 with little to no defensive pressure. Lets not forget he also survived a dropping after an 8 possession 1 point game against the Lions the week prior.

Wouldn't say he was unlucky to be cut Ken.

I agree. Might be a good manager and motivator, but too slow to make tactical changes on game day.

Good coach, but might not deliver a premiership.

No you didn't. If I remember correctly, the first thread you ever started was about wanting him gone and it was basically a copy of a post you made in another thread. Your first 20 or so posts were all about Ken. I'm still not convinced you're not a Crows troll.

I am totally confused with this selection. I am a Young fan but he was dropped due to form, doesn't play in the Suns game, then gets selected above Monfries that has shown consistent form at the Magpies. I like that we look as though the coaches have got their shit together but selections are still a mystery to me, this is what i hate about my club.

But he wasn't dropped due to form. He was playimg his role adequately but not outstandingly. Meeting minimum requirements you might say (in fact ken did say).

He was dropped because of Ah Chee's red hot form that indicated he could do more than meet minimum requirements for the role. That's it.

We're not replacing wingard with young. Boak will take Wingard's role in the middle and young will slot back in as a high half forward.

I thought selections were to be based on good form in the 2s on a regular basis, it's not that Monfries was not selected so much but the selection of an out of form Young the last few times he played is staggering to me, especially when it's a position we can cover with Eddy, Krak and the unfortunate Palmer.

Young has kicked 7 from 7 games, playing mainly as a forward.

Grey has 20 from 8 and Wingard had 10 from 8 (better return given his time in the middle). Ah Chee has 3 from 1 game, whilst Grey has 6 from 8 (could have been better if he could kick straight)

Problem with Young is that he has just gone missing for large chunks of games when he was really needed and had the feed into the 50, like the west coast game.

When a spot opens up for him to do that job due to injury, why are we suddenly surprised that he is the first picked again? I just don't get it.

Reeks of continuity for the sake of continuity, bringing someone else in would increase our "number of players used" but bringing Young in keeps us at the bottom of the ladder at 27.

The in form player for that position deserves the spot and that player is Gus, Young has no form.

Sam grey and young are both lucky to be staying in as forwards

Happy with the Young call up.

Clearly Gus is down the pecking order and suspect AJ is next call up after Young.

Unless he bashes the door down, I am happy with Gus taking a mentoring role with the lads in the SANFL.
