Well we've gone back to 7 defenders (6 + bench). I am happy about that.

Dougal and Hoff will go toe to toe with Stanley & Bliczavs.

Our three tall forwards should trouble their defence made of baby potatoes, whilst the inclusion of Neade will help with forwardline pressure. Overall - realtively happy.

Expect Ebert to run with Selwood, Wines/Gray to go head to head with Danger/Duncan.

As a forward flanker Neade > Rockliff.

As a KPD Hombsch > McKenzie.

Hombsch for McKenzie - meh. Sort of like for like, although Jack is the superior backman and does release Howard to ruck full time.

Neade is interesting. It suggests we want him crumbing and applying defensive pressure, something that we don’t back Boak, Rocky, Gray or Wingard to be able to do. Yet Geelong’s defence is under sized and lacking experience, if there was a game I expected Dixon, Watts, Marshall, Howard (resting forward?) and Westhoff to kill it, this is it. So why the need for Neade?

We looked slow on the inside and outside of the contest last week but Geelong don’t have the rebounders that Essendon had. Geelong are much more built around winning it at the stoppage, so Atley probably would have been more useful or maybe Boak, Gray and Wingard are to play more through the middle. Maybe we wanted someone to take on Tuoy, in which case Thomas would have been perfect, Neade is under sized. Johnson has pace but doesn’t find enough of it and doesn’t have the defensive capabilities.
