Well I'm pretty annoyed SPP isn't back in. I'd of thought perhaps Atley mighta got an inside gig... happy Marshall is fit!

Neade in feels like we're going to be playing Wingard and Gray significantly more in the midfield while leaving Boak, Neade and Motlop forward.

Then why not give Thomas or Johnson a chance ? Na Just give Neade another go, does so much ! always the same players in and out in and out

If Neade has been picked off the back of consistent form so far, rather than just Ken's love for his "defensive pressure" after some rubbish SANFL games, then I'm okay with that. Will offer more than unfit/injured Rockliff has, but straight back out if he does nothing - had plenty of chances already, so it's straight in and perform or bust. Hombsch is a good choice if Howard is rucking. Houston very lucky to survive, and you'd think will be replaced by Pittard very soon.

How has Atley been playing? Seemed close during the JLT series and seems a logical choice to replace SPP, but evidently not.

Surprising myself with my lack of melts at Neade’s inclusion, but he ended last year in good form, he’s started this year in good form for the Maggies, and our forward pressure was arse last week. I am slightly amused that he’s yet again managed to find his way into the team in a week where there’s likely not to be many changes the week after (due to the short turnaround from the ANZAC Day SANFL game), but whatever. It’s fine.

The Pittard situation is a weird one. Ordinarily I’d accept the coach’s explanation that they wanted to give him another week in the SANFL, but does that mean we plan on playing him in the SANFL on ANZAC Day and then again next Saturday against the Roos, or does it mean we’re planning on giving him another two weeks? Neither option is ideal. I would’ve just had him in for Houston straight away TBH. Would’ve liked to have seen someone like Barry or Atley come in for Amon too.

Team selected lacks some hardness and ball getting ability.

Two inside mids are out (Rockliff and SPP) without even one of that type coming in.

That is particularly baffling with Ryder out.

We will get thrashed around the ball Saturday night and lose by 4-6 goals.

How about Boak going back in to guts with Ollie and Ebert ....with Robbie and Chad rotating through there
and Motlop and Polec waiting on the outside to get it forward

Still think we'd get thrashed around the ball?
Sounds pretty potent to me.....

Jakey would probably play his best in Boaks interlinking half forward role

So from our best 22, with everyone fit and in form, is missing Pittard, Ryder, Rockliff and SPP. Not ideal for only round 5.

Still I'm just glad we've brought in Hombsch so Howard can ruck without compromising the backlines completely. Of course having a ruck in so Howard is back would be better, but at least it's an improvement on the last two weeks. No SPP and no Rockliff has us light on for inside mids, Geelong's strength.

Still if we have Howard rucking most of the game, with Marshall getting up, then our three tall forward line should stretch Geelong's injury plagued defense enough to get us over the line.

Wondering what Amon did to survive that MacKenzie didn’t .....

At least Mackenzie had to try and defend and do something Amon might as well not played for all the impact he had on the result or am I being unfair?!

Could just be that McKenzie put our defence out of balance and Hombsch fixes that.
