Yeah probabaly 9 or 10 players that Id drop before Wagner based on that 1 game alone.

Very weird.
Seems to be atleast 1 selection every week that I go wtf over. But the 3 ins are way above the 3 outs. Hopefully Jones and Viney have blown out their cobwebs and ready to roll

Not sure on those changes. May for Hore is fine and the obvious choice. Don't think it makes us "too tall" given Hore is no speed demon and May moves pretty well.

Kolodashnij... is he ready to go for 4 quarters, or are we repeating the same mistake from last week?
Lockhart seems a strange in to me. To get picked up by the club a couple of weeks before the season starts and then be in the team round 2 ahead of others is an interesting decision.

Was interesting that a lot of supporters were calling out for Melbourne to draft Lockhart but they didn't. They finally picked him up and a couple of weeks later he gets a crack. Hard work finally pays off, do us proud :thumbsu:

Also Collingwood winning tonight feels me with some optimism. They looked flat last week and this week pumped arguably the best team in the comp. Hopefully we'll lift too. :rainbow:

Only seen him live once, but at least in that game he was the guy I wanted us to grab from Casey. Limited sample size in the extreme though. Still, I hope he goes well. He must feel like a neglected kid in an orphanage being taken home by his long lost grandfather.

Why are either of Viney and Jones playing?

Both were absolute liabilities last week.

I love em both for sure but unless some miracle has happened, they ain't fit.

Maybe it was the top up fitness that had got them through.
Who do you replace them with?

I rarely went a week agreeing with Goodwin's selections last season and we made a prelim. Hoping it's the same this week because I can't make sense of 2 out of 3 of them.

Why now for Lockhart? There was no one else? And KK? After a VFL praccy match?

Why drop Wagner? He was probably in our top 5 or 6 last week surely.

I'm convinced now that there's some new fancy sports science theory that says, you're meant to play you're underdone players in real games to get them back to fitness

Lockhart I suspect there is a lot we aren’t seeing. Would be interested to know how many main sessions he was in and just went unnoticed. Don’t think they would pull the trigger if he wasn’t ready.

This. I would have replaced Frost with May and that would be it.

Lockhart for Spargo? Not sure on that. Spargo played well enough last year to earn a chance to play two in a row here. It's not like we have a full list of small pressure forwards either. And it's not like Lockhart is a player we've all been salivating over. Solid VFL player replacing another really. I hope he proves Goody right here..

And did we not learn our lesson last week with underdone players? KK I reckon might have needed another week or two. I hope he proves me wrong.

I’m also thoroughly confused. And I also have a suspicion that our best games last year were when the ins and outs appeared the most sensible and vice versa (just a gut feeling)

Unclear why Wagner was dropped, I think Spargo must of been a short person prejudice

Trying to put a few things together from other threads (Lewis comments for example) best I can guess is that our poor performance was put down to work rate rather than being under done

Someone hold me - I’m scared

Doesn't matter. Whoever is fit. Not worth the risk. Especially with Viney
I don't think either of them are unfit in that sense, I think they simply lack match fitness which can only be gained by playing. They're just as likely to get injured in the VFL than the AFL and I don't think we have anyone worth bringing in for either of them.

Last year Viney played an poor game against Carlton after coming back from injury playing only one VFL game prior. He dominated Adelaide the following week.

Adelaide were worse than a VFL side in that game to be fair

Yeah that was my 'sports science theory'.

They must be just wanting them to get fit by playing. Just not quite sure the AFL these days allow you to do that with two key mids.

I'd rather 2 fully match fit B graders than 2 half fit A graders. Plain and simple

You could do it with someone like Oliver because he can play a little forward, but Jones an especially Viney are useless outside chasing the ball

I think 0 tackles is the damning stat for Spargo. Port were rebounding too easily and we didn't have anyone crumbing or tackling. Thats what Lockhart's directions will be.

Whilst I love Spargo and his unique talents, he is easily exploitable, has to run twice as hard and therefore gets cooked twice as fast, given Geelong's list, height and speed, him being dropped makes sense strategically.

Spargo laid 3 tackles in the space of 30 seconds on our forward 50 when we were going left of screen. Strange he has 0
Yeah I seen that n thought **** he's had a few today and they reckon zero **** knows what a tackle is then

I specifically remember this. I said to my sister how much i love his endeavour and thatva few more of our players could use it. I'm sure i read somewhere he laid 3 tackles for the game. Do you have to bring a player to ground for it to be a tackle?

I'm guessing they have to be in possession when you tackle. So if they handball right before you tackle it doesn't count but just holding a piece of jumper while they kick must count as one.
