So the only anomaly is when we played the 2 worst teams and had the ball in our forward half more and more forward 50 stoppages?
It seems arguing over ruck numbers is becoming a favourite pastime.
As for the actual time in ruck (not just CBA)...

Pretty wild assumption that all of the non-CBA ruck contests are forward half stoppages.
But no, when we got smashed in Rd 4, Naughton, Bontempelli, Dunkley and JUH combined for 20/71 ruck contests, including 3-4 CBAs as ruckmen for Bont and Dunkley. The switch to using Cordy for an even greater percentage of ruck contests came a week later.

Total time in ruck numbers are going to make a few people here keel over. It's ALMOST like the ruck role isn't straightforward as one is in the ruck and the other is playing forward. English has been spending increasing time on ground not taking ruck contests as the season has gone on.

So if there was 130% of ruck time on the weekend registered between our two players - that means that 2 players can be considered "in the ruck" at once?
EDIT: Actually I'm an idiot, 90% of English's minutes were in the ruck and 40% of Sweets minutes were in the ruck

It's a measurement relative to the amount of time they were on the ground.
English 89.5% of the time in the ruck * 80% time on ground = 71.6% of the match's ruck time. Sweet 40.8% of his time in the ruck * 64% time on ground = 26.1% time in the match ruck.. Adds up to 97.7% game time with some rounding etc or the stats not being exact when one player rotating off for the other or whatever logical reason being the reason it doesn't add to 100%.
Sweet attended slightly more actual contests while in the ruck according to the above table (26/87 = ~30%), probably because of the fact that there were very few stoppages in the opening 10 minutes of the match when they had kicked 1 goal to 0 and there were not many stoppages with how they were chipping the ball, while English started the match in the ruck.
Just to prove this English/Sweet ruck thing, and how they impact the game, we need a full set of scenarios to validate against.
That means we need a game with Martin and Sweet in the team, and English not in the team, or doing no ruck work whatsoever.
I'm sure if someone challenged Bevo with that, he'd be up for it just to troll the AFL and his supporters again!

I think it's important in the setup having Sweet on the ground which frees up English around the ground. Sweet isnt the greatest thing since sliced bread however what his inclusion does do is give Bev the ability to use English at either end without tiring him out with body on body ruck work

If Geelong bring in Stanley then Im going to walk back my earlier statement about us reverting to type and going with a single ruck.

Personally I'm yet to be convinced of Timmy's ability to go up against the bigger and more physical rucks, but that is just me.
Hopefully DeKonning plays like his father, Naughton would have 10 goals before half time if Terry was playing on him.

He's a lot better than his Dad, great prospect. Went to a game once with my Uncle, early 80's. Stood near the players race and the ball came near there and Terry dropped a sitter. We were getting absolutely pumped and my Uncle was not happy and 3/4 pissed. He yelled out "De Koning, you fairy." Reckon Terry heard it (very small crowd) and looked our way with half a grin on his face.

I think the motivation of beating Geelong outweighs the motivation of finishing top four. A top four finish guarantees you nothing. A victory against Geelong guarantees your sick and sleepless nights being replaced by several good night sleeps
D-Day, mutually assured destruction is upon us. Either Beveridge retains Jordon Sweet in the side, thus proving once and for all that one ruckman sized forward will always win a fight against one forward sized ruckman. Or he drops Jordon Sweet, confirming without doubt that his terminal case of short man syndrome is destroying the fabric of our club.

Listening to Bevo presser now, might have misread things but i'd be nearly certain Sweet gets dropped this week. Bevo talked up Sweety for the job he did when he rucked the 2 games prior to the eagles, but said his role last week was only pinch hitting ruck with some time forward. I'd put my money on his omission. Mara likely another week in the 2s as well.
My guess is Schache comes in. If Sweet is being dropped he’s probably not going to want to have Buku and Marra in the same team (not while their TOG% aren’t high).
