I’m incredibly interested in what plan we have for Stewart because based on the team selection we have none.

The other thing I’m disappointed in is that Bont will spend a considerable time up forward due to the makeup of our side. It makes us a lot less dangerous overall.

Could we see O’Brien up forward for this game?

Buku to fill in for ruck. Bont to play more minutes forward with Baz back in.

Buku will give us more in the ruck and around the ground than Sweet did last week and Bont will give us more than Buku did in the forward line last week.

Not too bad.

You’d think Wallis will be sub. Out of that emergency list.

Sweet out is the right call if we plan on playing English mostly in the ruck. Sweet needs to become dangerous forward to be any chance of playing with English weekly now he is our number 1 ruck.

No great surprise there.

During todays presser, Bevo pretty much signalled that he would only use Sweet on a needs only basis against other athletically challenged rucks. Or when English wasn't available.

Its pretty clear that Bevo didn't see the point in running Sweet against a pair of mobile hybrid rucks in Stanley and Blicavs.

Right or Wrong those who advocate for Sweet to become a permanent part of the side better get used to the idea that he wont be.

As for Stewart. With the return of Smith, I think we'll see Dunkley play as a defensive forward on him for large parts of the game.

I also think that we might see O'Brien used as cover for English.

Well summarised

It’s staggering how many times Beveridge keeps going back to the small side well, I’m still waiting to see the advantage it gives the team. He’s more than happy to play multiple small role players so it’s not simply a talent issue.

Is it really that small????

The backline is as tall as we'd ever want to play.
Bont and Naughton as forwards with Khamis 3rd up.
Bailey williams on a wing instead of the likes of Hunter or Roarke Smith.

Changing the structure is bizarre. You look at the lineups and basically taking out the extra tall means Blicavs can go to Bontempelli/Dunkley instead of a tall.

Maybe it was just me but I would have utilised Bont/Dunkley forward directly on stewart. You have an elite star like Bont drawing attention or an elite defensive player like Dunkley able to shut him down.

There very well could be moments we have Naughton on the bench, Khamis rucking and basically a tall mid as the only tallish marking target. Bev would want our midfield to fire tomorrow night. Basically playing russian roulette with English and his durability also.

Not sure it's that bizarre. English rucked most of the game so if we keep that structure Sweet is either forward or on the bench and not providing much. Our second rucking won't be as strong without Sweet, but hard to justify a whole spot just for that.

The other concern is keeping Stewart honest, it probably would have been ideal to bring in Schache to play against him and go through him as much as possible.

edit: Cats have three key position defenders and Tom Stewart who is on the taller end of medium defenders. If we go the chaos ball with forward 50 entries then that's the only way I see us getting through.

Jeez, I don't like the idea of running English one out against Stanley and Blicavs with support from an undersized player.
Mate, 57.50% of the time, Bevs' right everytime.

I hope we don't just bomb it blindly into our forward line like we have done a bit this year.. Stewart could have a field day
