2. Your midfield will dominate ours. Clearances galore.

Yeah we'll work really hard get lots of clearances kick inaccurately at goal eventually score after 10 minutes of hard work. You'll then get a quick couple in 2 minutes

Can see this going the same way it does every time we go in short. We do well in the middle, but get f-all score on the board because our forwardline in uncompetitive in the air.

Buku to fill in for ruck. Bont to play more minutes forward with Baz back in.

Buku will give us more in the ruck and around the ground than Sweet did last week and Bont will give us more than Buku did in the forward line last week.

Not too bad.

Asking a huge amount of Buku to compete undermanned up forward and then follow two aerobic beasts around in Blicavs & Stanley when he barely runs out 65% game time in the forward line tho. I hope he has his best game yet I really do

Changing the structure is bizarre. You look at the lineups and basically taking out the extra tall means Blicavs can go to Bontempelli/Dunkley instead of a tall.

Maybe it was just me but I would have utilised Bont/Dunkley forward directly on stewart. You have an elite star like Bont drawing attention or an elite defensive player like Dunkley able to shut him down.

There very well could be moments we have Naughton on the bench, Khamis rucking and basically a tall mid as the only tallish marking target. Bev would want our midfield to fire tomorrow night. Basically playing russian roulette with English and his durability also.

Missed the chance to dominate the midfield with English & Sweet against their average tap ruckmen, would have had the whole game on our terms but anyway

I don’t understand why we just don’t pick Schache. Fair enough we don’t pick Buku and JUH in the same side. Fair enough we don’t select Sweet if we play him in the role we did last week.

But 9 months ago Schache was deemed good enough to be selected in a grand final side. He spent considerable ruck time last VFL game and kicked 3 goals drifting forward. Isn’t that the role that virtually is vacant right now. And he historically doesn’t get in Naughtons way.

I’m a huge Schache critic and he’s not in my best 22 but This is the type of game though you select him

It’s a little mind boggling. Even picking Cordy just covers off some bases.

We’re now relying on a 4th gamer with zero AFL ruck experience and a poor tank to support English & Naughton. With Baz back in the side, we can easily shift McCombs role for something more structurally critical.

If Sweet needs forward craft and Scache is ok as a forward but needs to get better in the ruck then surely in the VFL Schache plays as the ruck and Sweet as a forward.

I have infinitely more faith in Buku doing this than Jordan Sweet who despite playing traffic cones last week was completely ineffective.

In his presser Bevo alluded to others in the team who are doing jobs that maybe weren't as visible as some. This was in context of Jamarra not coming back into the team. I believe he was talking about Buku.

Marvel is a fast deck, so I can sort of understand why Bevo would go in with just the two tall forward setup. Would prefer to give Sweet more of a go, but playing an extra small has worked in the past at Marvel.

I expect O'Brien to do some of the ruck work, since Geelong don't have the tallest of forward lines.

I think it’s just a bit of a waste having an all star midfield and then having makeshift rucks for 20% of the game

I also thinks that is his justification with McComb, Scott and to a lesser extent McNeil. He knows most realise they are not best 22 but they play some sort of role what Bevo thinks in his bizarro world more talented players cannot.

Unless TOB is the chop out ruck, Buku (who can't run out 3/4 of a game and is 190cm and 85kg) goes up for part of each quarter against one of 2 blokes who, regardless of our perception, regularly play ruck at AFL level. Even TOB is under-sized for rucking. And if Khamis rucks, that's even less time he plays forward, as he'll need his 30% on the bench.

What could possibly go wrong for those 6-8 minutes each quarter?

So when Slim Tim is actually rucking, we'll need to dominate AND take advantage of I50s AND kick accurately.

Compare the midfielders. Would we have the best 5 midfielders on the field. With English we should completely dominate the game. No doubt we will win inside 50s by a large margin. Let’s hope we lower our eyes and hit up targets but do not think our forward coach and Bevo understand that. The only reason we do not win by 30 plus will be poor coaching

Why play another tall when we can play Scott, McComb, McNeil, and West all in the same side. Marra and Schache haven’t even been named as emergencies.

All I can say, is that if we’re gonna go with the mosquito fleet they better ****ing play like a mosquito fleet and just hunt and terrorize at the bottom of every contest.
