I have no doubt opposition teams would see DBJ as a player to play through. He can't defend aerially, he gives incredible latitude to his man, he attacks the ball and contest at half pace most of the time and he doesn't hurt you with the ball.

When it comes to the long term structure of this side, Burgoyne should be replacing DBJ.

Obviously Fantasia didn’t get up for AFL selection this week.

Replacing Mead with McEntee isn’t the big deal people make it out to be. Neither is replacing Bonner with Burgoyne - like I said, he should have never been dropped and if I was coaching I would have left Jase in the side and put it on Bonner to replace Byrne-Jones.

The coaches are still persisting with Georgiades and Farrell after their poor showings so they are backing them in to turn it around. Which is fair enough since both of them can score goals and that’s our problem. McEntee always gets selected when the coaches feel that the ball is coming out of our forward line too easily.

Exactly but they are not picking on form which frustrates people, they are picking on role regardless of whether he is up to the level.

We probably need a coach who is gonna look at every player with dodgy skills, it's a problem when people continue to think you can just turn scrubbers into a premiership defence.. you can't, people with footskills like our illustrious captain & DBJ are never playing in a flag.

Good to see the club prepping for mad Monday. Need to ensure the ramsgate isn’t booked out. But seriously, WTF is going on. Literally nobody putting their hand up for selection in the Magpies, coaches just devoid of any gameplan or idea. Talk about head in the sand stuff by Koch and co.

Crazy selections IMO.

Just keep picking Mead, he'll get there he just needs games and what better games than dead rubbers.

The only positive is, the lack of S.Motlop. When McEntee is getting picked ahead of you, well the days are numbered.

Yet DBJ puts in soft, pea hearted efforts weekly and seems to cop no heat.

Bonner was horrific last week, but he's still best 22 when firing, and I can't hold against him the coaching staff picking an underdone player. He should've played SANFL last week, ready for AFL this week.

Bonner only missed 3 or 4 weeks and would've still been able to train for fitness since it was a jaw injury.

I can't think of a time when Bonners soft and weakness has cost us do dearly. No excuse for it.

None, if we had an SANFL reserves team he would be struggling to get a game for that.

McEntee is averaging as many touches per week as Sam Hayes had last week.

But Hayes doesn't do enough.

Under the brilliant mind of Kenny Hinkley the number of touches a player needs to average in the twos to be considered for promotion is inversely proportional to their height.

McEntee is the type of player we needed to bring in. I’d prefer him than Motlop and Mayes as at least his exposed form at level is minimal.
