Changes vs Geelong

i would like to see skippy come in as a bigger body and as much as i like lonergan he'll find it hard to get a spot with the ins over the next few weeks...

also good to see laycock getting a game too be very underdone so i think we should give him another 2 weeks on the track and another game in the twos to get a bit of run in the legs...

also jetta and alwyn are required in the team together i feel they would struggle without each other...

so in that

Out - Lonergan (unfortunately) if suspended NLM
In - Skipworth, Hurley

PS another week for McVeigh we dont want a repeat of the north melbourne debacle

Just heard on SEN that Dempsey has been reported for rough conduct. Hopefully this will be just a fine.

Nothing on Lovett-Murray yet though.
You will find that they meant to say Lovett-Murray not Dempsey for the front on rough conduct not that it will matter as it looks like Demps will miss anyway.

rooke is not a permanent fixture anywhere for the cats - depending on matchups he plays forward, defence and midfield on occasions. If essendon go small up forward then rooke could easily end up down back.

He is a utility player but for the vast majority of this season he has been playing as a high forward rotating through the midfield on the odd occasion. With Harley back in the side now I would be surprised if we see him down back at all. They are fairly settled and versatile with a backline of:

Taylor, Scarlett, Wojo
Milburn, Harley, Enright/D.Johnson

I think the calls for Lonergans head are a bit harsh… Sure he hasn’t been racking up massive numbers but he’s always doing the team things that go unnoticed… he’s hard at the ball… not afraid to get at the bottom of the pack and is quite capable of kicking goals if up forward… one of the better set shots in the team…

No, I think they are quite fair, and I'm one of his long time supporters. His output has been down in the last few games and even though he adds toughness around contested ball situations, he isn't having enough impact for us. Before he was injured earlier this year he was "doing the team things that go unnoticed" and still getting enough possesions to have an influence. The last few weeks he has been trying as hard as ever but his form has been average, he hasn't won as many clearances as he normally does, and even the small 1 percenter type things he often does have been less.

Going back to Bendigo to find some form isn't the harshest call, but the question is do we have another inside player to replace him? McVeigh and Skipworth both apparently lacked fitness in the Bendigo game so I would give them another VFL run, Welsh is still out obviously, I wouldn't call Prismall's an inside player but even if he was he is probably still a few week off too.

IN: Prismall

!!! :p I really want to see him play again. :(
so he can receive special attention from mooney, wocinjski and rooke? no thanks. we'll let him recover for a bit longer. lol

INs: Laycock, Skipworth, Nash, Mcveigh*
OUTs: bellchambers (omit), NLM (if suspended), Mcphee (if injured), Dempsey (if injured or is suspended)

*: 4th choice inclusion if below 4 all go out --- not yet fit enough to play, probably 1 week more in the VFL before he's right to go

Stokes is also up for a week if found guilty of striking Bulldog Piken - if he goes this will certainly help ease the pain of losing both NLM and Hurley in the same week.

Laycock needs one more week in vfl level i reckon. Anyone know is Prismall can play forward at all? His what i reckon Knights should try, Play Lloyd half forward tell him to push up the ground get scarlett out of defence. Rotate Bellchambers/ Ryder in the ruck forward line possibly half forward flank catch the geelong backline offguard. Play Neagle in the square. Our defence should be alright as they don't the so called twin towers yet have play makers such as stevie j and stokes. Key is shutting down the midfield though which will be a big challenge
whenever scarlett goes to lloyd, he'll move up the gound and another tall will go forward, as soon as he's off him, he'll push deeper (but in general play, not at stoppages so its easy for cats to change opponents).

thats what i'd like to see

I actually can't see a match up for him, Varcoe is much taller. Who would he play on?

You can't see Geelong not having a match up for a small indigenous forward a good thing?

With our definite outs (Dempsey, NLM) I can't see Knights changing the team around too much. I'd bring Myers and maybe Skipworth in.

well Lovett-Murray will be out, as will Stokes for the Cats. Bartel gets 66 demerit points with an early plea for a trip, so he's fine.

i could see stokes being a real danger for essendon ... with him out, taking down steve johnson will go a long way to giving the bombers a chance. assuming our skills improve dramatically from last weekend's first half display.

Out: NLM
In: Pris/McVeigh

I know that its a tall/utility for a mid, but i don't see anyone else putting their hands up, with Hurley out and a host of other names finding fitness at Bendigo.

I hope Winderlich plays foward because he played well against hawthorn or brisbane from memory and his speed will worry geelong defenders attacking from the HB line. Hopefully Prismall or Spike can cover his absence in the midfield.

I don't see any of their fowards except Johnson to be real dangers to be honest, so nullifying him and their mids will go along way to winning the game.

I actually can't see a match up for him, Varcoe is much taller. Who would he play on?

Varcoe is 180 cm tall. Jetta is 178 cm tall. 2 cm is barely taller..

Jetta generally plays as a small forward around half forward / forward pocket- Varcoe plays in a similar role to Jetta - i dont think that they will play on each other.

Jetta's provides frontal pressure like Davey & helps to keep the ball in our fwd 50. He also kicks goals and sets up team mates (perhaps too much).

In a sense & because of his role in the team I dont think he needs to play on any one - they play on him. I hope that this makes sense.

Give the kid some time and space to develop into a good footballer as with confidence and hard work this kid will be come a very consistant performer for us.

Everytime i see him his flapping his arms around on the wing trying to get an easy kick so not sure where his playing really
Please stop harassing our small forwards.

Last week you wanted Davey out, and he played a great match. It'll just take some time before Jetta shows you.

Well I feel sorry for you; you clearly struggle to understand the game. Just so you know, Jetta plays forward for us. Monfries runs up the ground for countless leading marks; this doesn't change that he is playing forward.
I appreciate that you don't rate Jetta, and I think most posters have a player or two that they see less in, but your tirade is becoming tiresome. If you continue to post "Jetta is shit" "outs: Jetta, Jetta, Jetta", "If we play Jetta, we lose", we'll have problems.

Ben

Oh Ben !

How much football do you watch ?

Slattery has problems with small forwards who are strong overhead - not withstanding that Johnson is 6 or 7cm taller.

And Johnson played most of the game on Friday in the forward 50 and got at least 2 of his 4 goals from one on one contested marks.

The Johnson match up is crucial because he is the most INFLUENTIAL ( currently ) player in the Cat's lineup and leads the league for score involvements.

I would try Pears on him and hope for the best.

Why does Motlop always kill us in the first half, and Ebert in the second half when we play Port?

Slats is our best small defender, Johnson their best small forward. Obvious matchup to anyone who doesn't have a crusade.

With the MRP, Bendigo and injuries having been done now:

OUT: NLM (susp.), Dempsey (inj.), McPhee (inj.), Lonergan
IN: Daniher, T Slattery, Skipworth, Prismall

Daniher to play the forward/back swingman role that NLM does.

T Slattery to provide Dempsey's run off half back.

Skipworth to play in the forward line again.

Prismall to demolish his old club. Lonergan has been out of form recently, and needs to get a stack of it in the magoos.

On Jetta: His in my team because he's forward pressure will be vital against the Geelong backline.

Do you think Mcphee will miss??
On Jetta: Hes out of my team, anybody can create forward pressue;)
Lonegran would be grate doin Jettas job(probably give you a couple of goals).
Im told Slattery hardly got a touch on Sunday.
Bring in Skippy and Prissa!!

Out: Lovett Murray Demspey(inj)
In: Atkinson Myers/Nash

Not Prizzy back yet, and don't think any of Skippy, McVeigh, Reimers are quite ready. Tempted to go Nash over Myers as he deserves a chance this season and i'm a big fan of him, and Myers has had many chances. Then again, thinking Myers as the more he plays the better he becomes (We have to hope:thumbsu:)

Do you think Mcphee will miss??

He was probably pumped full of painkillers. Let's face it, the Adelaide and Melbourne games are more important to our season, so they won't take any chances.

Then why don't they?

Jetta is better at Jetta's job.

Im told Slattery hardly got a touch on Sunday.

He's been an emergency a couple of times, so I'd give him a run anyway.

Bring in Skippy and Prissa!!

:thumbsu:

Dempsey will play, McPhee is fine,Lovett-Murray only one that will be forced change, being a Sunday game will help Dempsey, Prescott said on Bomber tv that Dempsey has come up well so he should play no worries.
