Opinion Changes Vs Geelong

I wouldn't string any of our forwards up on our use of the ball today, give it another week. I think our talls have shown they are capable if they get reasonable supply. If he gets good delivery and fails then that is a different matter.

Definitely. The ball use was beyond terrible yesterday so I don't want to be too harsh on him but for his size he really should be doing better. He monstered West Coast last season, now he just doesn't do enough

Please mate.

Lindsay was wonderful yesterday, how he wasn't paid the mark and or free kick in the 3rd was an absolutely disgraceful decision. He is a very good footballer on his day, but it was an unnecessary braid fade which will cost him 2 weeks possibly 3.

You lay a shepherd, then the onus of duty of care rests with you.

The game was screwed a long time ago, now it's just laughable.

It was an accidental head clash. Why is it that anytime someone gets an injury it's someone else's fault and they have to go? If LT didn't have a melon of granite and was KO'ed also he wouldn't have a case to answer to!

If he goes then it's another shocking decision against North and the game is becoming even softer! Just get rid of the shepard so the players are even more protected!

In: McMahon, Hine (will add pace and aggression in the backline).
Out: Jacobs, and someone else who is not Mullet, we need to retain his pace and kicking potential (which has also been caned for no good reason).

Buddy I don't agree with the rule but that's just the way it is being interpreted at the moment.
It's ****ed but he will go.

Yeah, I can't understand it either. I also noticed he retained his run and pace in the last 1/2. Jacobs blew up something shocking, and isn't quick to begin with.
Mullet got caught ball watching to many times, He cant defend 1 on 1 at this stage and his disposal was terrible. cost us a couple of goals from poor kicking around the back half.

McMahon is a definite inclusion
i feel LT will go for that bump
Harper had a shocker and wright as always was just too soft on some ocassions but in saying that both would be a key next week playing LT role .
out : Macmillan just terrible
wright (if LT is not suspended highly doubt it though)
LT
Jacobs was good at some stages but was too soft
in : Hine ( played good at werribee ,brings aggression )
McMahon ( key player ,solid player)
Greenwood ( might be left-field but strong at the ball and can tackle ,which will be important against geelongs bigger bodies)
Black (if LT is suspended , we already have 3 towers and cant afford to go another with daw )

our terrible forward 50 entries i felt were because of our setup, we just kept on bombing it in , and there is no way we can rely on tarrant to take a mark and thomas was the only small forward up for it to keep it in there i felt.
most are calling for daw inclusion but i only see that happening if tarrant or hansen are coming out of the side.

players on notice :
HARPER play him half forward ,he is not up to a midfield position
Anthony & Gibson ( same type of players but efficiency needs improving

In: McMahon
out: jacobs or mullet.

Mullet will probably go for McMahon as it is a positional replacement, not a reflection of his game. I feel like Jacobs will be given a run for a few games at least. I can't help but feel his fitness is not up to scratch and he is struggling to cover the ground.

The only other change will be Lindsay if he is rubbed out.

Not good, ******* perfect would be more apt.

It's poor coaching, Majak lays tackles, chases, has presence and takes unstoppable contested marks.

The upshot is its been a while since we have played poorly and been ultra competitive against a top 4 fancy.

Overall our clearance work was electric, Goldy was back to his best and there were some great signs, we have so much upside it's absurd.

Out: Thomas, Jacobs, MacMillan, Anthony, Gibson

In: Daw, McMahon, Wood, Kennedy, McKenzie

I'm pretty sure Wood is still a rookie.

I think we will be seeing Majak sooner rather than later.
He would have burnt Collingwood with his athleticism as they were out on their feet.
How many times did Liam Anthony hack the ball forward with no thought at all.

Wright - is going no where.

Black - We cannot play a forward line with Tarrant, Petrie, Hansen, Black.

Anthony - needed to play the whole game not warm the pine. Jacobs being selected was like Brad feeding him a hospital handball. I don't think he was ready to go and was to a degree fed to the wolves. Clearly is in need of VFL time.

If LT is out it is really going to hurt.

Jmac, Im a big jmac fan, but not anymore has to earn my respect back at Werribee, Disposal was terrible.

Mullet, played half decent but again Disposal was poor and cost us goals, especially for a player who is supposedly a great kick.

Hansen, terrible disposal by foot killed us, but did play ok, should not get dropped imo.

Anthony, hardly played and still managed to kill us by foot but also had a couple of nice passes too.

Can u spot the Pattern. We loss because of this yesterday, so for that

OUT
Jmac
Mullet
Anthony

IN
Hine
Mcmahon
Gysberts

Yeah you are right, however I think we should persist with young Atley.

Oh wait, you are talking about someone who played significantly better than Atley.

Am I the only one who thought mullet played ok. Was damaging from hbf at times and was the only player to actually hit a target... So many other players who were way below mullet, including harper and atley both senior players compared to mullet.

No you are not, I thought he played better than OK.

By significantly better you mean a guy who missed targets under no pressure, made poor decisions and is terrible 1 on 1 v a guy who yes had a bad night but was under more pressure and has the runs on the board

Out - JMac, LT
In - Loose, Hine

I like to demand double-digit changes as much as the next bloke but it just won't happen. I love Black & think Daw is ready to contribute as much as any of our big forwards, but he'll struggle to get a look in this week given Geelong's depleted ruck division.

Wright & Harper were woeful but given LT's likely sanction they stay. I kinda get the Mullet angst too but I'm a fan, thought he did plenty enough ahead of many others.

I reckon Scotty will back the blokes in to rediscover their skills & make minimal changes. Depleted or not, it was collingwood & despite being unbelievably sloppy, nearly stole it.

absolute certainty for reasons well covered

Out: MacMillan, Wright, Tarrant
In: McMahon, Hine, Black

Harper, Atley, Jacobs and Mullett all get rockets.

If Ben Ross was still on the list I'd have him in the side too, at least he can hit a target.

I feel like a lot of people are forgetting that Mullet is 21 years old, has only played 9 games, and this is the first season that he has had any muscle on his frame.

It wasn't completely his kicking letting him down yesterday, but rather his decision making (probably a result of the pressure being applied by collingwood and it being his 9th game). His game was far better than that of Macmillan (who is far more experienced in terms of AFL football) and I believe he will play a lot better when McMahon is back and mullet is allowed to play looser across the half back flank. The absence of McMahon meant Atley and Mullet were under a lot more pressure, and were caught a lot deeper in defence.

It also infuriates me that LT will probably go for a stupid bump and head clash (and ziebell got done last year), when Thompson got off for this forearm to the head

I'd agree with that but the reality is he still turned the ball over about 5 times.

Atley definitely wasn't caught deep in defence. Playing up the ground on Sidebottom was new for him and he got taught a lesson in running both ways. In his defence, he's not the first to be out-worked by Sidebottom.

Jacobs pretty much trailed Harry O by 20m. Every time.

Harry O worked back for a 3 on 1 when Tarrant did that stupid deep kick for Thomas to beat 3. Goldsack strolled by Jacobs who was not on his man, not in the contest, not front and square and applied zero defensive pressure.

Similarly Harry O was obviously going to be used in a switch when standing 50m out at HB and again Jacobs took forever to close the gap and apply an arm tackle to be run through.

Obviously you cannot burn a player on one game but watching a guy pointing for others to pick up his man and getting blown up by a seagull like Harry O is not inspiring.
Thanks for the Shag. Pretty much agree with everything here.
