Changes vs GW$ (R21): Grimes, Salem in; JKH, Bail out

Thinking really hard about this one - I recall Clark, Sylvia, Green, Dunn, Jurrah all kicking 5 in a match at some point. But not more than 6. And even in some of our 'good' games usually the goals were pretty spread out.

Heck, even Jamie Bennell once kicked 4 in a game

As someone who has lived through various (insert flavour of the month, prospective number 1 draft pick name here) "Cups", can I suggest we do a complete 180 degree turn on what we normally do in these situations..

If GWS have truly thrown in the towel for season 2014 as it appears they have, and are directing all their efforts to sinking lower on the ladder, then why don't we embrace the situation and use it as an opportunity to just belt the absolute shizen out of them.

It might be meaningless and some may say 'detrimental' to our long term prospects, but if GWS have decided to go down this road, one WE have gone down many times unsuccessfully before, then lets give them a bloody great kick along. Then hopefully they will feel the indignity of it all and the embarrassment of selling their soul for an unproven kid.

Im sick of the final few rounds of each season being an internal emotional conflict as a supporter not caring if we win or lose. I say we go for the soft kill and make it as brutal and as bloody as possible. We can take Brayshaw at pick 3 and keep our dignity and GWS can have Petracca and a prolapsed rectum after we destroy there asses on the G.

If both sides dont go in with that attitude, they are doing it wrong.

Both sides have shown, in some games, they dont deserve to be at or about the bottom of the table.

Now it's time to show that you know in your bones that you can win games when they are there to be won.

If either side waves the white flag and lets the other team run away with the game, that'll be a very significant signal.

Plus we need to win, after all the work we have put in this season to finish bottom again would be so deflating for the group, both sides need to prove to themselves that they arent still the bottom of the pile because as we have proven ourselves over the years its a very hard place to escape

Would like to see more attacking players come in rather than negating players. This is a good opportunity to kick over 100 points. I'd rather see attacking style players like Salem and Fitz come in than Jordie. Really want to see us attacking more this game.

Bookies have us clear favourites, but I think this is a 50/50 match tbh. They have some very talented players in the midfield and with Patton/Boyd down forward and Davis/Heath Shaw marshalling down back, this will be a close game. Bugg has turned into a good tagger also. So I'd expect him to try and shut down maybe Tyson or Vince. I'm going along, and I think we will win, but I'm not convinced we are clear favourites. We simply don't kick enough goals for people to say we will smash anyone right now.

He gets alot of his footy in the coal face and alot of them are clearances off good ruck work, He doesnt get 20 on the outside so I think I would be stopping Watts and Vince from getting their hands on it

I agree this game will be tight, especially as rain is forecast. I'd tag Tyson if I were Leon Cameron. He's our chief ball winner and I don't reckon that Vince' possesions are anywhere near as damaging as they were early season and Watts doesn't require a hard tag. Jones is the other one they might look to tag but his performance doesn't seem to correlate to the teams performance as much as Tyson I feel.

If you combined all the steps he has taken before kicking the footy this year it would probably be under double figures, if there is anyone more casual with footy in hand than Jackland Watts then Bernard has claims to the trophy

I feel Tyson has influenced more games this year than Vince. So he'd be the one I'd try and tag. Watts doesn't need a tag. He struggles to find the footy as it is. I got a feeling Leon Cameron might not put much pressure on our players this game and let it run it's course. They really don't have much to gain by winning. Pick 2(Petracca) to them right now looks much more appealing than winning against us in a nothing game.

The most telling thing about his miss from the goal square against Brisbane, is that absolutely no one near where I was sitting in the members had any expectation of him to kick it. He was less than 15 metres out on negligible angle and we all just assumed he was going to shank it.

If I was in Camerons shoes, I would be doing whatever it took to win (spoken like a broken Melbourne supporter). They needs wins/improvement almost as much as us.

They can consider a swap of picks type deal with St Kilda if they are really keen on Petracca (ie/ pick 1 in exchange for 3 and 20 or a player). This way Saints will still probably get McCartin (we'll go Wright and/or Brayshaw you would think) and GWS get their man.

Edit: now that I think about it, if it is threatened that this may happen - we would be in a position to trade picks 3 or 4 for McCartin, which would scare St Kilda off and leave us with Petracca.

So um.. yeh - Cameron will have the foot off the peddle.
