Stopping Whitfield and Williams is key imho. Look at the last game for proof.
G.I.T.T.O.Q. Will not tell you what the letters mean, but if it's not Whitfield it's McCluggage or even
Petrevski-Seton it rarely varies. V.O.S.S. is important for us as well as C., but our defence is
nothing without P.O.T.B.C. the 7-7-4 is really helping at the moment.

Yep, that was my initial reaction too.

GWS have 3 "key" forwards that they play which are Cameron, Himmleberg and Finlayson. I would say Lew Young goes to Himmelberg with Wood on Finlayson and that would mean Cordy on Cameron which scares the sh!t outta me. Trengove does not have the pace to keep up with Cameron who loves getting on his bike with the high ball out the back from transition turnover. We need Wood/Crozier to really be the third man up to peel off and kill the high ball contest between Cordy and Cameron. Not sure Trengove has a really suitable matchup this week like a Josh Kennedy or Tom Hawkins big strong KPF

Came here to basically post this.

I’m petrified that GWS somehow break even in the midfield but torch us by targeting our weakness at KPD by pumping it in and letting their talls do the work. Cordy got outbodied all day on Sunday and Young, while having had two good games, is still really inexperienced.

It’s the only part of the ground I’m worried about, but could be a significant Achilles heel. Be interesting to see how Bevo approaches it.

Every team has these. Injuries, retirements, players taking time off etc.

We have been blessed with a good run this year. We've had our 3 best players available every game. Wood has played his first full season in... forever.

GWS, Collingwood, Essendon and Richmond have been absolute ravaged, yet they all sit in the finals.

My list indicates quite clearly that we have been ravaged too.

Why do you buy into opposition clubs' puff pieces about how hard they had it and deny our own hard road to the finals?

It's pretty incredible that our round 23 team has just 8 members from the 2016 premiership side. I still get annoyed when the media compare us to 2016. The team is just entirely different in every facet with the exception of our major ball winners through the middle.

In: Fletcher Roberts?

Because we haven't had a hard road to the finals? That was the point I was trying to make. I don't consider many of those massive losses and have all been replaced by great/solid players.

GWS have literally had their 3 superstar mids out (Ward, Cogs and Kelly) for huge parts of the year. Imagine us without Bont, Macrae and Dunks?

WTf. Get off the peyote. I have told you before it is bad for you.

We've definitely had a pretty decent run with injury this year. Or maybe we're just used to being annihilated haha

Dickson plays if fit should be zero question about that he takes either west or Hayes spot.

I don’t see us going with three talls down back even though gws play the three bigs in Cameron, Himmelberg and Finlayson. We lose too much of our run if we play three talls, means rather than having 4 of wood, crozier, Jj, suckling and duryea down there at all times we only have 3 of them. I think we stay with cordy and young because Trengove isn’t really the right match up for any of gws’s three talls.

Game will be won or lost in the midfield anyway. English might struggle in the ball ups around the ground but will smash Mumford in centre bounces where he can get a run at it and around the ground providing a link up in our transition, can also see him working hard forward.

I see what you mean but as far as I am concerned we have had significant outs too and I think we should not let others own the hard luck injuries story without pushing back.

Same with the easy draw, hard draw stories. Yeah, yeah...well our draw was hard too.

Toyd, Picken, Morris, Libba, Daniel......

Exactly. Imagine if we had a fully fit Picken in the side. Imagine if Tom Boyd hadn't got injured (mental health) and was still playing like he did in the 2016 finals. Imagine if we had Morris, one of the best, most experienced, defenders in the AFL. Imagine if Club Champion Liberatore jnr was running around like he was early in the season. Mitch Wallis, tough and proven medium forward and rotation inside mid. And Caleb Daniel, a really special player who can rack up the possessions and had incredible disposal skills by foot.

Our injury woes this season are right up there with most publicised whingers in this genre. We just haven't chosen to rationalise our performance with the injury crutch.

Cheers Fossie.
