Having an opinion that isn't widely agreed with isn't embarrassing. Following everyone else and not having your own opinion is embarrassing.
I'm not referring to that one opinion.

On the match day thread, someone mentioned Berry out for Brisbane is a big loss and you said he was a bottom 5 player.

Wanted Gaff dropped for dropping a check mark.

I could go on.

I can only surmise from your comments that you don't know much about the game.

It's only my opinion mind you.

They are all terrible opinions which won't find much support around these parts and the fact you're doubling down on them speaks volumes.

Own up to them, and move on. We're all human.
Jackson Nelson hasn't improved though.

He's been dropped now

So i expect no easy opposition goals via silly mistake upon return or he will be the whipping boy still

Name the last "silly mistake" he made that actually cost us a goal. I mean, he's not Rotham or Witherden who are both playing this week and both made silly mistakes that gave up goals against the crows, so at least he's better than them.

Also, as I see that join date wins arguments now, given mine is lower than yours, clearly my opinion is the more meritorious, so glad we can end the discussion there. :drunk:

It's all about team balance the changes this week.

I think Ah Chee in makes sense (and not just because I'm the great man's sponsor). With Nelson out, we need some support in the middle, Ah Chee offers that flexibility.

Jones out sucks, but someone had to go and I don't think he's in competition with Ah Chee for that spot, he's in competition with Petruccelle. And on currently form I don't think there's much between Petch and Jones. Regardless, he'll be back in time - I hope he tears up the WAFL again, running through the middle when possible and forces himself into the team.

Nelson out is also harsh, but unavoidable, if we have Ah Chee for midfield cover, then Nelson lacks the speed or penetrating kick that the other half backs have, so again tough, but he'll be back.

Considering our outs at the moment, it's quite exceptional that we're developing pressure on spots.
Jones has improved out of sight , his tank has improved and his foot skills are good . He had a quieter game against the crows . Aerially is weakest and opponents outmark him , maybe its match ups against GWS . Having Ah Chee and Waterman seems odd to me as I think one of them could have been left out . Waterman dropped sitters and the turnover was like a 12 point turnaround on one occasion . I also thought Jones was getting good synergy with Nic Nat , the ol 1 2 , gelling with Kelly too , and Jones was good in the middle against the Dockers , ripping the ball off Fyfe and running away got me noticing him more . Jones will be back in the side and is the teams " most improved " this season imo .

Other than Shuey and Yeo its basically full strength though. McGovern out doesn't really make a difference anymore, in fact might be better because Edwards defends and Barrass intercepts
Rioli and Venables make us better.

Facebook comments section usually has the correct opinions?.. not the back the good character brigade
Haha

Oh God no

So if one of the Giants’ mids gets off the chain who is going to be our “cooler” with Nelson going out of the side? Reddo I assume? Or could Cole be pushed up to a run with role?

FWIW I thought Nelson deserved to be the one going out with the selection squeeze after his effort against the Crows. Despite that sub-par performance he has been more than serviceable this season.

We weren't discussing Nelson and in any event I don't disagree with him being dropped, someone had to make way for Hurn.

Not sure there's much to complain about there. Jones/Ah Chee was toss of a coin and the rest pretty much pick themselves with depth coming in. Witherdon looks to have gone past Nelson which, based on last week, is pretty hard to argue.
I would agree on your comment regarding Whiterdon vs Nelson ( good to problem to have in case we have injuries later on) . I think his defensive game might not be as good as nelson but it's pretty close. the same thing could not be said about Nelson when comparing the kicking and DE. Alex is by far ahead.

Jones out is pretty poor, the guy makes things happen around the ball and is very clean below the knees.

Reckon we're far too tall and it will show.

Funny sort of a side selected from my POV. Seems unbalanced. I like Waterman as a player and think he is b22 but it is hard to see where he fits in the current set-up. With 3 tall forwards plus Williams plus Ah Chee as a tall flanker plus Brander as a tall wingman and midfielder, I find it hard to see what his role is. It is like he is a mid tall guy playing a small man’s role because he is the better player. I am fairly confident that he is one of Simmo’s favourites but that is not a good criteria for winning.
Jones had a fairly poor game against Adelaide and he has been up and down. But he is good for the structure of the team especially when he’s up. I don’t think Ryan can be expected to take on Jones’ role after several weeks out with a stress related injury. My concern is that we could run out of legs like we did in the St Kilda game. Melbourne are currently picking the best team not the best 22 individual players (Brown is out for example), and that’s working for them. I probably would have had Waterman sub in this game.

Wouldn’t mind seeing Nelson for Edwards as a late change. It would allow us the flexibility to go with either (a) Allen as a KPD and Nelson playing a mid-forward tagging role on J.Kelly like he did against Collingwood, or (b) our current talllllll forward setup but an undersized defence, albeit one with Barrass, Rotham and Shep and Hurn who can both play taller than they are.

No, but having embarrassingly bad opinions is embarrassing.

Like dropping Gaff because he missed a tackle.

Or picking Cameron off the back of a three-possession, no-goal WAFL game because “everyone else has had a go, get him in FFS”.

Or wanting to trade McGovern like the club is playing NBA 2K or something.
Respectfully speaking you only get to disagree with an opinion. you can't have your cake and eat it too. What you shouldn't do is what you did above by implying your definition of embarrassing is the only definition and instead of disagreeing with an opinion and leaving it there, you went one step further and called the opinion embarrassing. Don't be an idiot. grow up.

next time you hear an opinion that doesn't register or appeal to you practice responding without indirectly bullying and using aggressive language to belittle others to get a kick out of it. state your case, provide your own facts and move on. How hard is it for people to follow that process.

Unless you think of yourself as some sort of high authority when it comes to matters AFL-related and West Coast related then I have nothing to say to you and I wish you the best. God bless and take care.

Noted.

For the record I’ve debated those opinions with him at the time he aired them. He stuck with them then and sticks with them now.

And there’s a difference between having an opinion I disagree with and having an opinion no rational person could agree with. All of the ones I cited are the latter.

I think if Edwards was to come out then Allen would have to play kpd because GWS would stretch us for height in our backline as I noted above. They don’t seem to mind playing this monster Flynn (201) in their forward line along with Himmelburg and others. Bobby Hill is their only small forward and Lloyd is mid size. I don’t think Rotham plays as tall as his height, and I am not sure Shep is as good at playing taller now as he was earlier in his career.
I wonder whether Whitfield isn’t the player who needs tagging. This game is shaping as a real game of chess even before a ball is bounced. The more I look at it the stronger GWS seem. On paper, our forward line and their backline is our strength.
We will have to play very well to win.
