Whats more concerning and more accurately reflects the fact that we are 1-3.... your stat or the one below?

In his 3 games Reilly has more kicks (38) and less clangers (9) than our best player, future captain and golden boy Patrick Dangerfield has in 4 games (36 kicks and 12 Clangers)....

Reilly wasn't great against St.Kilda - but was nowhere near as bad as many on here bang on about.

Danger is handballing it more often now, hes performing way better than Reilly

You are spot on, we should move Danger to half back and move Reilly to the midfield to be tagged and smashed.

We may as well. Because he isn't dealing well with the extra attention. He is performing nowhere near where he should. Needs to lift. Needs to first actually get more of the ball, then when he has it he needs to kick it.

He could be carrying an injury - he might not be. His performance is sub par for a player of his standard. No discussion whatsover on this forum.

The issue I have is that in every single bloody thread - the same people bring up the 3-4 brain fades that Reilly has. Every week they highlight this without commenting on the good that he does.

Well he does get smashed around every round with no protection from teammates whilst carrying a niggle so at some point he will come good.

He is not getting smashed around any more than elite players like Ablett/Pendles/Johnson/Mitchell/Cotchin get smashed every week. He is just not working through it like those players are.

Oh nah bad example there. Theres no doubt he has to lift but many great players have form slumps every now and then

So we cut Reilly some slack because his best isn't very good and he's playing close to his ability but instead focus on our best player because he's down on form? Yep I can see how such a strategy doesn't lead to average players playing 200 games for us.

Bullshit he isn't. Those players might be heavily tagged, but I've never seen Ablett and Pendles physically smashed.

2012 and 2013 are clearly the two outliers in Reilly's career. 2012 was career best. 2013 was career worst (until it was prematurely ended by injury).

I'm not expecting him to return to the form he showed in 2012, but if he can get back to the form he showed from 2005-2011 then his position in the team will be completely secure.

Winning 6 finals in 16 years is evident enough this club is hellbent on being 'just good enough' and doesn't have the courage to either be very good or very bad.

You need courage to be one because if you fail, you become the other one.

Sorry but you can quote stats and best and fairest results all you like but he was a very mediocre player given chance after chance.

Do you think a 30 year old slowing Reilly can get near his best and it will be good enough to keep his spot in the side for the next two seasons?

And I think the real issue is you hold the superstars like Danger to account and aren't as demanding on 200 game veterans. Besides the chance of winning a flag are enhanced by having more players closer to Dangers ability than Reillys. Reilly has failed as a mid, failed as a tagger and had one decent season as a defender when he didn't have an opponent. If you're happy with having players like that in your team don't complain when we never win another flag.
